Norco Service Center-Goodyear

Nightmare scenario — After noon on Saturday, big storm coming Saturday night, serpentine belt comes off and my car starts to overheat South of Big Pine on my way to Mammoth. I call AAA and they tell me the only shop still open is Norco Service. AAA drops us at Norco 90 minutes before closing (until Monday). I have no idea if the problem is big or small, but know that I am at Norco’s mercy with regard to timing and cost. Norco got right on it, got a part from NAPA (which was closing even earlier) and had me on the road in under an hour at a fair price. Disaster averted thanks to AAA and Norco.

Based on my one experience, I highly recommend this place. I had to get my car towed into Mammoth Lakes, and the local tow truck driver recommended this place. They were able to replace my starter, within a few hours, and overall were so pleasantly helpful and accomadating. Despite being a small town and semi-​remote, the service seemed very reasonably priced. I so appreciated the serivce and helpfullness, when I needed it most!

Very professional. Great work. Fair prices. I ripped my brake line out with slipped tire cables. The guys here were very helpful. They got the part ordered promptly and made a very difficult process as painless as possible. I sat there while it was repaired and observed that a ton of locals truly trust and like Chuck and the guys at Norco. I highly recommend their service center.

Tire required a plug, got charged $ 25 for a plug. In LA, it would of cost $ 15 tops.

This shop not only diagnosed our problem and took care of it as fast as they could, but they are kind human beings. Respectful of suppliers, regulars, and walk-​ins, while knowing their job. Ours was a brake/​bearing problem on a single axle travel trailer that had disaster written all over it. They know what they are doing. AND the work is 100% guaranteed for 24 months. We live a long way from Mammoth Lakes so this is important. If something goes wrong with this particular job, we go to our local shop, have it repaired, and these guys will cover the cost. What more could you ask for?

This is my first time writing a bad review because the service was awful.
I left my 2006 Titan tire to be patched and went to breakfast. They said it would take about 45 minutes and they would call me. No call. I returned after an hour and my tire was ready. Never in my life have I had to pay $ 45 to get a patch! In town (Orange County, CA) American Tire repairs them for free. I thought maybe $ 15, double that for resort town so $ 30. But $ 45?!
I asked if someone could put the tire back up into my truck…“Sorry, everyone’s at lunch, do you want to wait an hour?” Honestly?! I asked if they could at least get off their lunch butts and GIVE ME MY TIRE? Begrudgingly, Miguel sauntered over to the tire and rolled it to my truck. I had to ask a friend to return the tire to its place under my truck. I’m a 62 year old woman and was fully prepared to tip anyone who would have helped me with this — even after being gouged for the repair. But they couldn’t be bothered.
This is not service!!! Go anywhere but here to get a tire fixed in Mammoth Lakes.

Talk about amazing service! This morning we were heading out of Mammoth and stopped at Vons for ice. Thanks to the planter and a somewhat inexperienced RV driver, we ended up with our exhaust pipe stuck in the rear tire.
We called AAA and they sent someone right away. Unfortunately he had no idea what he was doing. An hour and a half later (to the tune of $ 277), he had the popped tire off, but was unable to put on the spare.
We drove carefully to Goodyear and hoped for the best. We couldn’t have had better service! They were able to saw the tailpipe and put in the new tire, no problem. They even adjusted the pressure in all of the other tires as well. Totally cost? $ 67.50! Excellent, honest service. Highly recommend if you need help with a car or RV in Mammoth!

$ 35 for a flat repair. Took a day to get it done. When I came to pick it was going to be a 45 minute wait to have them put it on so I just did it myself.

Chuck is fantastic! Got a flat over Tioga pass and ruined the side wall. Called a few shops in Mammoth, Chuck seemed the most knowledgeable, so I went to Norco. Unfortunately, no matching tire in stock. «No Problem» replies Chuck. I’ll order the tire, it will be delivered tomorrow and you can pick it up. Oops, i say, I don’t get back from backpacking until Sunday, are you open? No, he says, but I’ll leave the tire in the Minimart, you can pick it up then. Went on my 4 day pack trip without worry, came back to tire ready to go. The garage happened to be open and the tech loaned me a floor jack to make the install of the tire a breeze. Plus price was VERY reasonable. You don’t find service or prices like this in the Bay Area. He even correctly noted which wheel came off my car so the directional tire was mounted correctly. Friendly, honest, knowledgeable, and good pricing. When do you see all those adjectives used together? Highly recommend Norco.

Had an alignment done. Steering wheel was a little off-​center and the manager had me bring it in immediately and they fixed it, no questions asked. Professional, friendly, and a pleasure to deal with.

Was camping for a week near by in an RV I rented and was having problems charging the batteries. Brought them in to Norco worked with Chuck the owner. he said they were very low and needed about two days to charge them. Had to buy a new battery so I had power. Back in two days and turns out the batteries were both bad. He called the Interstate battery rep and they were a few months out of warranty I was faced to having to replace the rentals batteries and hope to get reimbursed from the rental company but the Interstate rep gave Chuck the OK to give me two new ones and cover them under warranty anyway. Then Chuck allowed me to return the battery I bought and had used for two days. In the end it cost me nothing and I got two new batteries. It was a bit of a hassle while on vacation but Chuck went above and beyond and saved us from a miserable time without power. He is stand up guy and I don’t hesitate in recommending his shop.

Great service on a drop-​in on a Monday morning! Had a screw in the tire and a slow leak. Dropped in, was able to back right into the bay, and the mechanic plugged the tire in about 10 minutes. $ 20 and a happy tire and travel. Recommended!

I was in town for the weekend and got a flat tire called these guys on President’s day. They opened at 8am, were incredibly friendly and accomodating and got my tire patched very quickly. I was back on the road in less than an hour. These guiys were great and I recommend them.

Great service, reasonable price to diagnose the problem and a gentleman that went out of his way to be sure our car was fixed that day which helped us not to have to stay overnight and wait til the morning.

Has an overheating problem coming up from San Diego. Stopped at a Toyota Dealer who mis diagnosed the problem and charged me $ 163. Good Yr Norco diagnosed the problem correctly and solved my problem for $ 63.
I believe these guys are honest and do a great job.

Took my car to AAA approved shop during my vacation in Mammoth Lakes. I strongly suspected malfunction of fuel injector. Ask shop to check it out. They charge me 250 $ for 2.5 hours of labor for unnecessary tests. Could not find the problem. Suggested to change distributor 350 $ and if it does not resolve the problem… change knock sensor… Could’t trust them! I drove my car on 3 cylinders back to LA. Took it to mechanic and within 5 min diagnosed with clogged fuel injector! Then I asked Norco Service Center owner to
be reimbursed for time and money. His offer was 50 $! Which I refuse.

I would STRONGLY caution anyone from using this business. I came here on the 4^th of July weekend with a car that wouldn’t start and I needed to get home to San Diego. Not many choices in the area that can even do the work so I was STUCK, but they were recommended by AAA. They were very nice and agreed to get my car in and take a look. Of course the part I needed would have to be ordered and wouldn’t arrive until the next day. Well the next day came and they got the part and put it in, but when they went to put the car back together they realized the belt (which they had to have taken off to get to the part the day before) also needed to be replaced and again was sent from somewhere else so wouldn’t be there until later in the day. They finally got the car done late in that day and got me on my way. I also got the tourist rate as another reviewer had mentioned, that didn’t surprise me so much since they are the only large shop in town that I saw. The bigger problem is when I got back to San Diego my car was squealing like they had put a pig in my engine compartment. I called them back and they again were nice and said «oh just take it to your local mechanic and have them take a look, we will stand behind our work and refund you if you send us the parts and the receipt». So I take it to my mechanic and they need to replace the belts that were just replaced, something about them being defective or something. My mechanic even called them to confirm what was going on and they said «yes just replace them and have him send us back the parts and the receipt and we’ll reimburse him». So I send them the parts and wait 3 weeks then call them to find out where my refund is. Oh, they are waiting for their refund from the parts guy before they will refund me. ??? I never heard that before… Finally (4 weeks later) when I call back they agree to refund me, BUT… only for the belts, not the labor to put them back on. So they really didn’t stand behind their work as they stated, they simply got a refund from the parts guys and passed that on to me. I didn’t agree with that so they said they would look into it and call me back, well big surprise they don’t call back. Two days later I call again. Now they agree to pay for part of the labor but not all, something about how it didn’t take them as long to replace because it was part of a larger job (sure seems like I paid for the whole thing). I guess I’ll need to go through AAA to get the full refund; hopefully they have more leverage than me as a non returning consumer. They didn’t seem too bothered when I got off the phone with them saying I was calling AAA to file a complaint, said «their hands were tied». Bottom line, I would NOT go here unless you are truly stuck in Mammoth with no other options, which I would guess they get most of their business from judging from the fact that the tow truck guy from 20 miles away seemed to be best friends with the workers at the shop (even gave him a free red bull when he dropped my car, funny how that works). If you are a GOOD and HONEST mechanic I would recommend opening an auto shop in Mammoth, there is plenty of business up there it seemed. I am giving a stars because you can’t do zero and they actually got my car running to get me home and were friendly while they were overcharging me to do it.

Needed an emergency brake job. They got me out that day, but they worked incredibly slow and they marked up the parts by 400%. I guess I got the tourist price.

We found ourselves stuck in Mammoth over Memorial Day weekend with a Saab that wouldn’t start. Norco was there to the rescue. They diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and sent us on our way without charging us «mammoth» prices. Chuck was friendly and helpful. It did take a little longer than we would have wanted for them to diagnose the problem but the part did arrive over night so we were only delayed 1 day.

We had an emergency vehicle fix that popped up during the Thanksgiving holiday in 2008. Chuck at Goodyear was a godsend. They helped us out with a fuel pump issue, and got us on our way in quick fashion. The staff was helpful and communicative throughout the entire experience.
