I hate to be so critical but when it’s necessary, it’s necessary. If you’re looking to pay for over priced ramen with no true content then by all means stop on by. We were having a late dinner and their Unilocal says they close at 10pm. I call and they tell me 9:30 but they will let me order Togo. Fail number 1. We ordered 2 orders of miso ramen, asked for some spoons and were told that it was all packaged inside. We take our food back to the hotel to find out there were no spoons. How are you supposed to eat soup without spoons? Fail number 2. Next, I opened the container and to my surprise, one piece of meat. Really? I just paid 37 bucks for 2 orders of ramen with one piece of meat? Fail number 3. As I continue to write this review the stars keep going down. In a nutshell if you’re really dying for expensive, ok ramen. Head on over! Otherwise you’re better off buying a cup o noodle.

Holy crap! Real Asians don’t only reside in Mammoth, but they work here too… Making some of the brest ramen I’ve ever had! We did sushi last night out here and it sucked. My Cambodian amigo and myself, both from southenr California for 20+years each know our Asian cuisine. The restaurant last night had us sorely disappointed and pissed off so today we weren’t expecting ing much better. But upon opening, there were now white guys cooking. Which wouldn’t have been a problem IF the sushi was good. And it wouldn’t have mattered here either, because the ramen(although pricey) was amazing, as was our service, our raw octopus with fresh wasabi appetizer(takowasa), and THE best sake I’ve ever had — Dassai 50 junnai daiginjo. Dude! This place is awesome! I’ve been at over 15 ramen shops in Torrance/Gardena/Little Tokyo and this one ranks up there in the top 5 easily — — naybe even top 3. The noodles, the broth, the chashu, the egg… Delicious. Come here.

There is ramen in Mammoth!!! Ok, so all the reviews say make a reservation and its super packed at dinner. We went at lunch. The place was pretty much empty. So I highly recommend checking it out at lunch if you are not on the mountain during the day. This allows you to relax with your group and not feel like you are holding up the flow. The food was pretty dang good. I ordered the spicy miso ramen and my wife got the all veggie ramen. The portions were decent but leave you craving a little more. The taste is spot on! Plenty of kick in the spicy miso ramen and plenty of veggies in the vegetarian ramen. The service is really nice too! Plenty of other things on the menu, but be prepared to pay the mammoth premium. Bottom Line: Its awesome there is ramen in Mammoth, but its expensive and the portions are smallish. So, for Mammoth they are A-OK :-)

I was in the mood for noodle soup and I was glad to see that there’s a new ramen shop in Mammoth. I showed up on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm and was promptly seated. Since I wasn’t sure what their speciality was, I asked the waiter for a recommendation and he said that his favorite was the tan tan men. I don’t usually associate tan tan noodles with ramen, since I usually think of it as Taiwanese, but what the heck. The tan tan men was OK, but definitely nothing great. It was super greasy, and the broth seemed to be a pool of red grease. The broth was mildly spicy and had a slightly sweet peanutty taste. The noodles tasted like frozen ramen noodles, and were nothing special. The amount of noodles seemed to be kind of skimpy too. There was just a meager amount of ground beef(like maybe a tablespoon) in the broth. Overall, it wasn’t all that good, but at least its semi decent Asian food in a resort town, so you can’t really complain. If this was in the Bay Area, I’d give it 2 stars, but since it’s in Mammoth, it’s at least 3 stars.

This rivals Momofuku in NYC! My husband and I LOVED the ramen here! Wish we had discovered it at the beginning of our trip so we could try everything on the menu! Very traditional, very very delicious!

A great find! After a morning of intense boarding/skiing, my friends and I were famished and was looking for a good meal. What we ended up finding was a great meal. Nothing beats the cold like a warm bowl of flavorful ramen. Hits the spot in the belly. The interior is decorated in correlation to its environment which mirrors the atmosphere of Mammoth. Our server was attentive and quite humorous. Love conversing with him. He was detailed about our orders and specifications. Thanks to Unilocal,I noticed the Daikon Salad several times, read up on it, and decided to order the small portion for the group. After the first bite, we all agreed that it should have been the large order. The crunch came from the daikon which usually denotes freshness. It was topped with shredded seaweed, white sauce, and soy sauce. It’s an interesting taste that makes one yearn for more. I recommend this dish. I ordered the Mison Ramen with an Ajitima Egg(Soy Sauce Based Egg). Broth had the balanced flavored where it wasn’t too salty like some place or too bland. It had the right amount of seasoning and taste. I added spice, which is located on the table, when the bowl came to elevate the spice factor. Didn’t want to get the Spicy Miso this time around. I had a chance to sample my friends bowl and man, that Spicy Miso will creep up on you if you are not a spicy eater. It is good though. Ramen had good thickness to it. Was not soggy or under cook. Scallions was there which gave the dish more texture. I’m a fan of bean sprouts and it came with my bowl. Win. I love the fact that it came in a big bowl. This gave me room to work my noodles. Some places serve their dishes in a small bowl, which is fine, but once you tried any dish with extra real estate, you’ll appreciate it. Overall, I would recommend this place if you want to warm your belly up with deliciousness. Next time I’m in town, probably for boarding, I’ll definitely swing by for a bowl and try their other dishes. Fan.

I’ll just give you the TL;DR. –Make a reservation. They are weirdly busy, even for being brand new. –If you’re from LA, drop your Sawtelle comparisons. This is Mammoth. Change your expectations accordingly. –Don’t be shy about requesting menus, waters, utensils, etc. They seem understaffed for the amount of business they’re getting, so if you don’t get their attention, they might overlook you. –Food will come out at all different times. Including appetizers like 10 minutes after your ramen arrives. –The ramen doesn’t come with a lot of meat. You get 1 slice. Eat it wisely. –Adjust your expectations accordingly. That being said, the food was good. We agreed that we would come back another time. There’s a decent selection of appetizers and drinks, and a small-medium selection of ramen types. Looking forward to trying out more, so glad this place opened up!

I hate to be Debbie Downer(and as my first review as a gold elite for the year, I’m saddened), but this isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. If you’re from LA, you will not like the fact that your ramen will cost $ 14, add corn for another $ 2, and when given your shoyu ramen, you only have ONE piece of meat. One?! Wth.(Look at photo.) I know they just opened, but the #1 problem they have to fix is service. There were only 2 servers and when we were seated, we weren’t given menus. The 2 parties who sat down after us received theirs and ordered way before we had them. Ugh. We were given the right amount of chopsticks, but only 2 napkins. We needed water refills, but they were wayyy too busy. We ordered the garlic fried rice… chicken because they didn’t have pork. It wasn’t as flavorful as it should be… it needed pepper and soy sauce. Yes, the garlic is what you taste, but that’s it. I must admit, the Ajo Ramen added with corn was darn good and garlicky… Just the way I like it. But again, the price is a big thumbs down. Because I liked it so much, I gave 2 stars. This place truly has potential, and I know it’ll do well during the el nino season since it’s the only place like this in town. I would only come back if I desperately needed soup(say if I’m sick or what not) but other than that, I’d go elsewhere. For four people, our bill was $ 60. Seems pretty ridiculous. I’ll stick to J town/Sawtelle Ramen in LA.

Courteous service, good flavor, but pricey and small portions. Long story short. I am glad its here, because after a long day of boarding, I want either phở or ramen. But get here early or expect an hour long wait. The place is small and quaint so guests in line for a table will be eyeing your food as you eat.
