Since I moved from another state a month a ago, my eyebrow wax was long overdue. I decided to look on Unilocal for the best place to go and so I gave Benefit brow bar a try. I have to say I am very impressed! The person who helped me was Mayra and she was very nice and efficient! She took her time to ask me what I liked and didn’t liked… and she was very professional! The last time I got my eyebrows waxed at the old salon I used to go to, the person messed up one eyebrow by waxing way too much hair! Mayra at Ulta fixed my eyebrows by giving them a beautiful natural shape! I am very picky about my eyebrows! Worth the $ 20!

I’ve had my brows done here more than a handful of times and love that they take the time to map out the brows first. I get to approve of the shape before proceeding. The wax itself is way gentler and kinder to my sensitive skin, not to mention cooler in temperature than any other place I’ve been to.(And I’ve been to lots of spas and nail salons for waxing) Ulta has a very clean environment and never reuses the sticks/supplies as I’ve seen lots of nail salons do. The pricing is very clearly displayed. You can even tip on your card there! My face gets cleaned off appropriately and I’m shown the mirror for final approval. The gal who’s been taking care of me is Mayra, hopefully I’m spelling her name correctly. She does a fabulous job.

I’m sorry but $ 20 to get an eyebrow wax when it costs $ 5 across the street at the nail salon is just ridiculous. I was never informed of their prices before the wax and didn’t ask as I assumed they would be on target with other salons in the area. They try to justify the cost by saying they use higher quality wax and«skin care» instead of baby oil to remove excess wax from your face. However your face is still red after you get waxed and I broke out in tiny pimples everywhere the wax had touched afterwards. Three days later my forehead still feels scorched! I’m not on any medications or use products that would cause this so I’m genuinely confused… After the«eyebrow map» aka showing you the 3 points of your brows with a brow pencil(just google yourself) and waxing I assumed that the technician would be showing me relevant Benefit brand products, but surprise! they didn’t… They didn’t even fill in my brows with a pencil or brow color so I left looking sparse and swollen… Trying to give the girl a hint I asked if Benefit made specific brow products and was instead referred to the Anastasia line… This didn’t sound right to me as the whole reason I decided to go to the brow bar was seeing a lady on a prior occasion getting the royal treatment at the brow bar, complete with a full eyebrow makeup look and multiple Benefit samples. Had any of that happened at my appointment I would be writing a very different review. Instead I paid $ 24 with tip and had to go home and finish plucking stray hairs myself… PASS
