If you like authentic central American food, this is your place to go in Manassas. The platanos fritos were cooked to perfection. Tried the tacos and and another dish, can’t remember what. It was all good. Homemade tacos of course, and excellent sauce and Pico. Right behind the taco bell… not sure why anyone in their right mind would go to taco bell when this.little.gem is right behind it. They also have a bakery that looks fabulous, but i was too full to try anything there.

Delivery did not work out. The staff seemed to be surprised when I called. It took time to give my information and then I was told there was a $ 20 minimum purchase, which is more food than I could eat.

I love their ribs, great food… I prefer to go than eating there. Things are little slower than a TYPICALAMERICAN restaurant, but its authentic in all senses if you’re looking for the whole experience. Come with patience and an appetite. It would get a five if service was a little more updated.

We’ve been there twice in the last week. Takeout on Wednesday, breakfast buffet Sunday. Believe the hype; there’s coupons in the mail circular too if you live in Manassas. Delicious. fresh, and inexpensive.

If you want authentic Guatemalan food, this is your place. It is not a Tex mex kind of place like most restaurants. I recommend two things, the garnachas, they are very good and tasty. They are an appetizer but come in 5 I believe and are very filling. I also recommend the chicken soup. It is a lot of food though, it comes with the broth/veggies and on a separate plate you get the roasted chicken with rice, salad, and tortillas. The things I have ordered here that I didn’t like was the carne guisada(fatty) platanos(not ripe) and ceviche de camarones(lacked flavor). Pupusas are ok but these are Guatemalans making them not salvadorians

My boyfriend introduced me to this hidden gem. He’s full Guatemalen and I’m full Honduran so I was very pleased & he knew I would be. We came on a Sunday morning for the breakfast buffet. So delicious. They had everything from small pupusas to platanos and huevos en tomate. They had a variety of egg dishes including quesadillas with eggs. Of course, they also had the basics — queso, frijoles, crema, & tortillas amongst other tasteful foods. They are constantly refilling the buffet table as they run out quick but it’s obvious this is a popular place on Sundays. Not pricey at all, so we went back with my parents, brothers & sister in law and they loved this place too, especially my Honduran born parents. This is definitely a taste from home & highly recommend for my Central American food enthusiasts!

You want delicious tamales or authentic Guatemalan food, in Manassas this is the place! I love there chicken or pork tamales. I’ll stop in and get a tamale for breakfast and it is delicious. I have been here with co-works for lunch and everyone was happy with their food. I also have enjoyed their papusas, YUM!!!

Don’t come here for ambiance, décor or impeccable service. And definitely don’t come here for a cold beer; they don’t have a liquor license. Do come here for good food. This review is based on two visits. I can’t vouch for the«authenticity» of the food, but I know what I like. It seems like every country in Central America has its own distinct versions of basically the same dishes. In this case, the(Guatemalan?) version of tamales, fried plantains, tostadas, chile relleno, taquito /flauta, fried, stuffed potato croquets, rice and beans are all delicious. If you like the usual tex-mex items and you are feeling adventurous, I would suggest thinking of the food in this way. It will be familiar, but different. Not necessarily better or worse than what you are used to, but good. Also, the portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. I like the homemade tamarind drink, since you can’t get beer, but that seems to be an acquired taste.

I ordered the Fajita meat which came with rice, 1 square queso(1×1) potato salad of some sort, salsa, avocado. It was missing the salad and I ordered extra avocado substituting the refried beans. I also order the chicken tamales. Chicken Tamales: First of all when I opened it it was huge and fat! I realized they put the chicken in-between the tamales and it was pink(yuck) I didn’t eat thinking there are bacteria infestation everywhere. Secondly the meat was really rough and chewy… my jaw started hurting after 40 chews. The rice was wrapped in a soggy paper, which was really weird. Made me think it was microwaveable food. Everything was mediocre. Not really impressed. I wouldn’t order form here again.

The food is delicious, I always get their papusas and fried plantains. HOWEVER. Delivery service is extremely unpredictable, they might as well not even advertise it. I was told by one person that they deliver until 8pm, then told by another person that they«don’t have delivery today». It seems there is only one guy that does delivery, and if he isn’t there, well then tough s**t, you don’t get your food. The staff could do to learn a little bit better english as well; they always have to hand off the phone to somebody which wastes a lot of time. So, in short. Food is good if you’re willing to dine in or go pick it up; but if you can’t do that and need it delivered, best of luck to you.

As authentic as it comes. True Guatemalan Papusas are amazing. very high quality food comes from this resturaunt/bakery. Try the ceviche to anyone who is a fan because its amazing and massive. You will not leave this place hungry but make sure to grab some febreeze and TP on your way home… the morning after is pretty rough… 100% worth it though.

I love hole in the wall places. From the outside, the windows are tinted so that you can’t see in. It almost looks abandoned. Frequenters of Cuna Del Sol will know better. Upon entering, the restaurant floor is a humble, frill-free layout. If you notice, you will see true Guatemalans and other Latinos sitting with family and friends and you know this is the real deal. Service is friendly and attentive. The menu is expansive and it has a little bit for everyone, especially for any one looking to play it safe with burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches. We had a variety of pupusas, a chicken tamal, a tipico el sol, and tacos al carbon. We loved every single dish and took all the leftovers home. A note to Mexicans: the Guatemalan tamal is very different from the Mexican one. I’m personally more of a Mexican style tamal, but I did get thrown off by the difference in styles. Regardless, the food quality and service quality(and prices!) were incredible and we look forward to returning in the future!

Guatemalan Food One of our favorite parts of teaching English to immigrants has been the party on the last day of class. Students are asked to bring a traditional dish from their country of origin. One time a woman from Morocco brought some roasted lamb with dates, and the meat absorbed the sweetness from the fruit. It was so good. We had one very sweet, very beautiful woman from Guatemala who brought some little things. I don’t remember what she called them, but they were good. It was a small, fried tortilla topped with some ground beef, shredded cabbage, some type of sauce with just the right amount of kick and topped with shredded carrots. I’d never seen it since. Last week I was talking with a student from Guatemala, and I asked if she knew of any good Guatemalan restaurants in the area. She mentioned this place. I described the food item that the former student brought, and she said that these are known as «garnachas». She added that this place has them. She also added that this place has very good atol de elote and is also a bakery. So the next day we went. It’s a very nice, low key restaurant. It had a couple of televisions, one on Univision, the other on Telemundo. I imagine this place will be packed during the world cup. Precious got the chicken soup, and I got a plate of garnachas. The garnaches are listed as an appetizer, and it was my intention to get a main course also, but they filled me up pretty good. We also go the atol de elote. And we got some bread that I intended to use to make a sandwich the next day. It was good. I’m going to be honest. The garnachas were not as good as the home made garnachas that our lovely former student made, but they were awesome nonetheless. The atol de elote was good too. I’ll be back to place. I might even like to catch a world cup game at this place just to take in the atmosphere.

I can only review the buffet breakfast. The wife and I went on a Saturday but the buffet is offered seven days a week. It was very good food for a buffet. The breakfast buffet definitely has Central American flair as you can find, pupusas, queso fresco, crema, pollo guisado, rellenos de coliflor, and many others, along with the standard, eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc. We ordered coffee to go along with the meal and the question was if we would like it prepared. That just means if you would like cream and sugar in it. The service was great and I am looking forward to going back to try some of the other foods but may have trouble not getting the breakfast buffet.

Very authentic Guatemalan food. I would definitely go back, but be sure you’re ready for the real thing. This is not Mexican food! It’s different and I had a few friends that were thrown off by it. They do have fajitas for those who like what their accustomed to. The irate time we went we dove right in and for five people ordered take out. It was a ton of food(we spent $ 80) but we also got some of the more expensive dishes. The chicken guasada was one of my favorites but they had great papusas and sopes. It’s way better eating in with the food piping hot. The have a cool bakery tree too.

I was looking for some really good Spanish food and this place popped up in google and had good reviews. That’s all I needed to know. The food/drink/dessert menu was extensive. I had the Plato Tipico with the ensalada de fruta and I thought they were both delicious. The only bad thing I have to say is our waitress seemed to be frustrated because she was so busy. She basically told us to hurry up and order or the food would take forever to come out. It was Mother’s Day and the place was packed but that’s still no excuse. A bad waitress won’t stop me from coming back again, though.

Cuna Del Sol: Crib of the Sun? Really… Really? Not a ‘staring’ experience for lunch today. I had read several reviews and almost went here a time or two since moving to Manassas. Not a very good lunch experience but I’m not going to slam them too bad because my server, Sayra was very nice. I wanted some Sopa De Pollo, it’s on the menu but this entrée comes with chicken on the side. I just wanted the soup & Sayra said it would be no problem. It came with chicken livers, not a single bit of real chicken meat. The broth was tasty, there were lots of potatoes & carrots and flavored with cilantro. I ordered the Tacos Del Sol. Never have I had tacos like this. They looked more like enchiladas. There was no way to pick them up. WTF? Tacos you eat with a fork… please!!! The chicken was all dark meat… C’mon man! The tortillas were supposed to be flour but they had a mushy & mealy texture and flavor. I basically just ate the chicken. It came with rice, guacamole & lettuce on the plate. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful, that’s the best I can say about their ‘tacos’. I also ordered sweet tea, it was clear that it wasn’t fresh brewed, in fact it was more like tea syrup and not very good. The soup was $ 10 bucks and the tacos were another $ 10. Not really what I expected for that kind of money… $ 22 bucks… Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!!! I sat at the bar so I could watch the Rose Bowl Parade on their HDTV. It was fun. it was festive, lot’s of color… mostly red. Then somebody turned on the house sound system… spanish radio playing Christmas music. Felize Nuevo Ano Amigos! Change the calendar… right…the Mayan one. I doubt I will try this place again as there are way too many other options in this town.
