Note: I did not get my haircut here. I had an appointment and left before they had a chance because of my terrible first impression. As I walked in, a stylist and client (in foils) walked outside to smoke. The front desk did not know that I had an appointment, asked the stylist outside, who confirmed my appointment, and then did not know where the new client paperwork was. The salon seemed to be under construction and was very messy and dirty. Overall, I got a very bad vibe from the place and did not feel welcome or comfortable. I opted to leave without getting my hair cut.

I found this little salon on Unilocal.I had just moved to Manassas, and after years of coloring my hair myself, it was a dried out, brassy, calico mess. I called and asked for Monica. She was great and got me in the next day. I’ve been going to her for months now, and my hair is a beautiful, beige blonde, and so healthy it’s incredible. She worked with me on the price because I see her so often (I hate roots), and she only recommended one product (she’s not pushy), which worked beautifully. She also keeps a record of your cut and color and goals so there’s no guess work next time you come in. She’s just marvelous. Much better than the chain salons, and I’d much rather support small businesses.

Stopped in for a haircut this afternoon around lunch and a stylist was available on the spot. Large, clean and well-​lit indoor space despite that the exterior looks like you are walking into a closet. Friendly staff. I’m not really picky about my hair and I don’t any kind of colors or crazy styles but they seem to offer a wide range of services if you are into that. All seemed experienced and friendly. My stylist Christina did what I asked and my hair looks very nice.

I just tried MJs for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! It’s scary to try a new hair salon, but my stylist Heather made me feel welcome and right at home. I cut long hair to shoulder length and Heather took the time to ask how I usually wore my hair and offered suggestions that worked with my face shape and lifestyle. I’ll definitely be back, great find!

I was really reluctant to write this review because the lady who did my nails was very sweet but she didn’t seem to have much experience doing professional manicures and pedicures. I did buy a deal for a manicure and pedicure and it was only $ 20 so I was super excited to use it but you definitely get what you pay for.
My cuticles were not properly cut and the nail polish was not evenly put on. The stations were dirty because the previous lady who worked on a customer’s nail did not clean hers. When she applied the nail polish, I even had to mention a few times that she missed certain spots. By the time she got to the top coat, my nail polish was so thick that it took forever to dry and she just slopped on the top coat which got all over my cuticles.

I have been at MJ once through a living social deal. If the place is not far from where I live, I would use this as my regular salon. However, I was interested to know more about their salon after being disappointed a number of times in other places where i used groupon or living social. Other salons didn’t take care of me as much as their regular customers since I only used living social or groupon. But MJ is different! They know that they are into these deals for exposure to the public and Monica took care of me. She’s knowledgeable and she is unlike other people in other salons who will insist of purchasing hair products such as shampoo or conditioners especially that I had a keratin treatment which other salons advised me to have special shampoo and conditioner. The treatment was awesome! And after a day without shower post treatment, my hair was so soft and nice and I really love it. Again, the treatment is unlike another living social deal that i used. I like Monica so much too. They took care of me immediately as soon as I arrived. Again, if the location is not far from where I lived, this would be by regular salon. But I will definitely come back here!!!

I am so happy with my Brazilian Blow out! At first I didn’t know what to expect since I drove 23 miles to get there from Alexandria but as soon as I got in the chair Monica made me feel right at home. She took the time to explain the difference between the 2 products and I went with the Brazilian Blow out… It took about 2.5 hours but the time flew by and by the time she was done my hair looked amazing. It’s my 3^rd blowout so I knew what to expect but it was better than that!
Oh and of course everyone at the salon was great. We just hit it off… I’ll be back as soon as it’s time again ! thank you MJ!

I have been seeing Monica for over 20+ years. Now I take my 2.5 year old son. She’s the ONLY person he will sit still for, she’s great! I was in a hurry once and made the HORRIBLE mistake of cartoon cuts… BAD one! He was creeped out by the entire place, clowns, and noise. The «hairdresser was aweful and actually mean» Guess too much biz due to excessive advertising…“what companies need to to when not getting referrals” I have referred Monica to numerous friends and all have thanked me. I have posted 2 pics of our last visit, enjoy! MJ is top notch and 6 star worthy. Do yourself, your family, and your friends a favor and visit Monica, or Jayme, best hair stylists in 500 miles!
