Way over priced for what you get. The bean and cheese burrito had almost no cheese and I paid for guacamole on my taco but when I got home I realized none provided. Not sure how this place has great reviews. Unilocal let me down here.

So this place makes it easy to find a favorite. Mine: Breakfast tacos: bean and potato. Simple and tasty. Pile on the homemade salsa and it’s heaven. Lunch: chorizo and potato taco. Seriously yummy. Pile guac on this bad boy and it’s a filling meal on the cheaper side of life. Dinner: veggie tostadas. I need more beans, so get a side of those. Get their rice, the $ 4 size, and some chips and quac and it’s did and done. Hells yeah.

What it isn’t: It’s not fancy. It’s clean and well kept, but just plain and ordinary décor. What it is: The tamale’s seem to be their claim to fame, so I did order them oh about on 4 different occasions :) They sell them by the dozen guys, and I had out of towners visiting. That said, I tried their burrito the other day and WOW. Ok, have you had a burrito at a Taqueria in California? You know what I’m talking about, those burrito’s that are the size of a small baby and perfect in every bite. I thought I’d never have one again until now. It’s big enough for you to split and I sure did and we all agreed it was just perfect. I had the carne asada burrito BTW. Seems like family owned and run, everyone is nice and casual. So get your tamale’s to go for dinner and your burrito for lunch and you’ll be so happy you did!

Best breakfast tacos and migas in town. In the taco triangle it’s tops. The super taco is awesome. Best place to go eat breakfast when you’re hung over.

Try the super migas with ham and avocado. Top it with some mild salsa from the fresh salsa bar!

Wow. I feel so incredibly guilty about giving this very obviously mom and pop restaurant a less than glowing review. But it is what it is. We ordered breakfast tacos– they got our order wrong– I ordered a bean and cheese taco and they brought me a bacon and cheese taco. Haha it was funny because literally who would ever order that? They brought our order back correct after we told them what was up. The tacos were COLD. I mean like actually cold. Cold tortilla(flour tortillas not homemade,) cold eggs, cold beans, cold bacon, and really cold potatoes. One of the issues with the tacos is that none of the ingredients were mixed/cooked together, they were layered, which was weird texturally and flavorless. I’m speaking specifically to the egg tacos, the bacon and potatoes would definitely had been better mixed in. But that would mean you would have to cook each taco to order, instead of what obviously happened which was all the ingredients were pre cooked and then slapped on a cold tortilla to order. Delicious salsa bar gets a star on its on. But cold salsa on cold tacos still isn’t great. Maybe it was an off morning? My husband said he came for lunch a while back and got a plate and he said it was really good. But he agreed this morning it was BAD.

I LOVE family owned, hole in the wall places, and not because it’s the hipster thing to do. I just love how homey and unpretentious they are, and this place is no exception. Located right at the end in Manchaca Road, it’s a quick drive from home base. I’ve driven by it more times than I can count, and finally came to my senses and stopped in. Comfortable, happy hole-in-the-wall. Typical low budget table and chairs, the menu is up on giant yellow boards or on laminated sheets hanging from the ceiling, the wall to wall fridge in the back IS the back wall. The Awesomeness: *Salsa bar: beats Polvo’s by a landslide. They have 6 – 7 salsas to choose from, each more delicious than the next. Full up the single service cups, or buy a pint to take home! That habanero one is bomb. *Food is fresh and fast. The carne guisada and barbacoa are amazing. *Staff is so friendly *individual tacos(onion and cilantro are the only toppings) and just over $ 2. Score. The not so awesome: *The queso is pretty blah. A bit like Velveeta city. *Chips are forgettable. Tasted like anything I could get from a grocery store and slightly stale. Same both times I have been there. Not that this will keep me from stuffing my face with them. *Stay away from the fajita chicken! I ordered chicken tacos and I wasn’t sure what I was even eating. Really chopped up, a little tough and kind of grey(?). And bland on top of that. Just weird. Overall, a few lackluster items won’t keep me away! This place makes me happy.

We just moved to Austin and I’m from San Antonio, TX so I like more Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican cuisine but this place always hits the spot. The Chili relleno is my favorite because of the sauce they use. I’ve ordered it like three times already. The beans and rice are okay and the tortillas are good. My wife always gets the chicken enchiladas and those are good too! We’ve even ordered tamales to go and those aren’t too bad either. I would have to say that we get take-out from here every Sunday — so they are by-far the best mexican food we have found in South Austin.

I’ve gone here for years for my tamale cravings. They also got really great flan and soup. Definitely stop by for a dozen of tamales. You won’t be disappointed.

WOW, just wow is all I can say to begin with! I live right down the road from this place and have passed it several times without going inside. I was working near and had my team with me so they always ask me to look up places on Unilocal and I found this place since it was close and cheap. It’s a very small indoor seating area with several menu items. They have photos hanging up of a lot of different plates you can chose from for about 8.99 and up but there are these absolutely amazing tacos for $ 2 something a piece and I must say they are some of the best tacos I’ve had in years. I had the steak fajita taco and barbacoa taco, I honestly couldn’t decide which one I liked better. Both tacos were very good sized(I went with flour tortillas) and the flavor of the meat was just perfect. They also have tamales for $ 1.50 each and they have flavors I have never heard of a tamale made with.(Pineapple, sweet potato, maybe even strawberry! and of course pork and the norm.) I did taste a bite of one of the pork ones and it was great. Oh yeah this place not only has an awesome salsa bar but they have two interesting salsas that were vreamy and spicy just like I like, spicy poblano and spicy avacado were the two favs of mine. MMMMM, now I want more! It’s a little place so don’t drive past it, stop and enjoy!

It’s ok. The first time I came here the tacos were great.(Breakfast). The staff wasn’t very responsive when trying to order.(You have to order at counter and they will bring your food out when ready). What I don’t like is that everything you order for breakfast tacos are pre-made. Therefor none of the ingredients are mixed together in the taco. They are just layered by how you order. The bacon is pretty much like bacon bits. I was like um where’s the bacon slices or chunks. NOPE. TINYLITTLEPIECESOFBACON. We asked for a basket of chips. One lady said 1.06 went back to table to get money and went back to the counter then the next lady said they were 3bucks. Lol for a basket of chips? No thanks.(Most Mexican eateries offer your chips for free or at least the first basket) I know Mexican food very well.(I travel all over and eat at some of the best hole in the wall spots. This is nothing compared to any of them. The best thing they had was the bottled BIGREDANDTHEAMAZINGSPICYAVOCADOSALSA. ***pork tamales a dozen are 12 bucks. Are you kidding me. I live in San Antonio and they are 7 bucks a dozen. Lunch plate specials are 9.99 come on guys. Way better lunch deals around Austin. I should know. I lived here for 20 years. Check out Mariana’s at 35/Stassney Al pastor on riverside(homemade tortillas) Vasquez #1−4 are all good. Happy eating to everyone.

Wonderful food, nice, polite and humble owners and staff. They genuinely care about their customers. Such a joy to go in there and relax. No snark, eyerolls, attitude, expected tip or dirty looks. In short non of the garbage that one has to deal with and navigate in most bars, coffee houses, and restaurants in Austin. Their tamales are hand made, I love going there and getting my fix! I tried the tostadas tonight and they were delicious. The cost is reasonable, a great value. I love Mi Ranchito. Leticia and her crew are awesome!

OHMYGODBESTTACOSEVER!!! This looks sketchy especially to anyone that doesn’t live in Texas and understand the Texas way of taco life but I came back twice! My first taco was the Migas. Breakfast taco with beef, oh my god it was so good! The next time I tried three more. One was brisket, one was carne gusada… I can’t describe the orgasm I had while eating them. So good!!! Why don’t I live in Texas?!
