We’ve lived on manchaca for almost four years, and we just discovered machos tacos. At fisrt we had the tacos, which are amazing. Great flavor, stuffed, with whatever you get. Today, we got the menudo and it was packed with flavor, the meat was cooked just right, and was the posole as well. It’s hard to find good menudo here, and we just found it. Thank you!

Wowzers! They say everything is bigger in TX well they are right! Man, one breakfast taco can feed a village! I am now a Macho Fan!

A little pricey for what you get but it seems real popular with the locals. Look across the street.

the food was pretty good however it’s not the kind of restaurant like you might think you have to go up to the counter to order your food then it is brought out to you if you need any condiments or anything else there are no servers so you have to search for everything yourself and find it on other tables around the restaurant the staff is friendly for a quick bite it is a good place to come.

Delicious al pastor tacos. The salsa they give you when you sit down is delicious!

I gave this place 5 stars because they deserve it! The food is delicious first and foremost, but the place is very clean and put together and the people are extremely kind! I will most definitely be back!

I tried this place because a lot of people recommended it. I was sadly disappointed. The breakfast plates seemed very small and tasted like cheap food. I wouldn’t waste my time going here.

Super friendly staff, super delicious food. Not mention extremely cheap! They have the best homemade habanero hot sauce(very spicy!). My go to place for tacos down south.

Great breakfast food(it’s all I’ve ever had here, and it’s amazing). A lot of food for the price you pay — tacos and burritos are stuffed! The best thing I’ve had here so far(I’m generally a plain Jane) is the breakfast burrito with all meats covered in queso. It’s so flavorful and delicious! Above all else is the amazing customer service. Maribel(the lady that runs the place) is the most positive, professional business owner I’ve met! She puts her business on the top of mom and pop shops on so many aspects. She remembers customers names and continues previous conversations she’s had with you, i.e. «How’s school going? How’s work?» Etc. She’s takes great care of the people from my work and myself(we come here quite often). Macho Taco is the place to eat, whether you live in South Austin or not, this place is a MUST.

Why do I love Macho Taco? Let me count the ways: 1. Excellent service. Everyone is super friendly. The chips and salsa arrive as soon as you sit down. Your food arrives hot as soon as it’s finished cooking. 2. Delicious food. Everything we’ve tried here has been great — breakfast tacos, tacos, quesadillas, salsa. The portions are also pretty big. 3. Locally owned and family run. It’s obvious Macho Taco is run by a nice family. All of the family members are very friendly… like so much more friendly than anywhere else. 4. There is always parking. 5. It’s not expensive. At all. That combined with the huge portions is a win win. I hope one day they’ll be open for dinner too. There it lots of competition for mexican food in this area, but Macho Taco is definitely up there.

Their breakfast tacos are HUGE and only $ 1.95 per taco! I thought I had accidentally ordered a burrito when I first saw the chorizo, egg, and cheese taco I had ordered. The salsas are fresh made and delicious, as well! Also try the huevos rancheros, great choice! :)

The young lady who worked the front counter was very polite. The décor in the actual restaurant is outdated, but there is plenty of seating and the atmosphere was quiet when we came(there was no one in the venue). Prices are cheap and the food is above mediocre. I had the chicken enchiladas with rice and charro beans. The enchiladas were splendid! Lots of cheese and seasonings were on point. The rice was a little dry and a little under seasoned(compared to the rice I make at home all the time). The beans were under par, BUT my girlfriend thought they were delicious. Again, similar to my rice I like my beans to have lots of flavor and explode in my mouth: D I’d be down to give it another go because the prices are excellent for the amount and quality of food as well as the polite demeanor from the staff.

I love this place! They are so friendly and efficient. I have become a regular because the truth of the matter is that once you live in Texas, tacos become a staple and Macho Taco has THE best Tacos around. The food here is great but what takes this place to the next level are their homemade sauces! Try the green sauce, it’s like heaven in your mouth, I could seriously drink the stuff!

Super fresh ingredients. So much flavor. Family run. Spotless. The minute there was a break in business the whole family came out to wipe things down, check on seated guests, check bathrooms, etc. I wish this place was in Denver.

It’s not earth shattering but if you like home-made food just like your mom and grandma used to make… then you’ll like this place! Everything is made fresh to order. The breakfast tacos/burrito were good, the pancake was buttery and the homemade empanadas were yummy! We went again for lunch and the beef fajita tacos were delicious! I recommend calling in your order then picking it up hot in 10 – 15 minutes! Plus they had three different sauces which were all flavorful and one of them was very HOT — just how I like it! We will definitely be back!

Very clean little restaurant with great Mexican food! My daughters had the Chrizzo burritos and they were huge and had excellent favor. The carne guisada, rice, and beans were awesome! The only thing they are missing is homemade tortillas, hence the 4 stars not 5. The staff were all so friendly and inviting, I’m sure we’ll be back before we leave Austin!

Have been eating at this place for the past six years. Is definitely a little gem in south Austin. I usually stop by for their lunch special or breakfast tacos. Great family — locally owned and operated.
