I was in Manchester for precisely one dinner … and am glad that I ignored the(Italian) dinner recommendation of the hotel’s front desk clerk and rather; chose El Jimador. Beware, they are relocating at the end of October 2015. I was greeted warmly and seated in a booth. The chips, salsa and menus arrived swiftly. The chips were unsalted(yea!) and the one salsa was mid-range on the heat index and had good flavor. Carly(?) was my server. She was prompt, knowledgeable and attentive. I ordered the shrimp, scallops & chicken fajitas. They were served blazing hot, inside a scooped-out pineapple. The proteins had been cooked with the pineapple … it was a terrific flavor combination! The sides were the usual: shredded lettuce, cube’d tomatos, sour cream, cheese, guac & refried beans. All the veggies were crisp/fresh. If I ever find myself in Manchester again, I will indeed seek-out their new location.

Been here 6 times and the food is pretty good ordered many different items and all have been good no complaints on the food would eat it any time. Service is a little rough the servers have been unfriendly and slightly rude and slow. Hopefully they improve however I think they are family so probably not.

Best carnitas I’ve had in a long, long time! Chile relleno was also incredible. Service was quick and friendly despite the fact I walked in 15 min before close.

After reading all the amazing reviews why not? We sat at the bar area,(which I think was considered a bar area for technical reasons) apparently that’s not a popular spot to sit, as there are only four chairs and the kitchen and wait staff walk through it to access the dinning area. I think that was done just to annoy anyone at the bar, they had other access points. We ordered a «Special» Margarita,(made with cucumber) was great, especially after watching a waitress come from behind the kitchen door and start complaining to another about making it as she’s muddling the cucumber. Had I realized I was being such a bother, I would have picked something else to make her life easier. I had ordered an enchilada/taco combo, and my significant other ordered the burrito/quesadilla combo. The hard tacos were straight out of a box, as I was thinking fresh corn tortilla fried taco. Bit of a bummer. My boyfriends burrito looked, and tasted identical to my enchilada.(Now he’s disappointed) The quesadilla was a bit light on the cheese, like none existent, did they run out of cheese? As I get half way through my enchilada my boyfriend noticed a hair on my fork,(thankfully before I had put it in my mouth) and as I look closer there was another one. REALLY? Did I upset you that much with the cucumber margarita? Then I was done, nothing said(I’m not one to complain or send back food) but I wasn’t putting another fork in my mouth from this establishment.

My first time at El Jimador was at their Laconia location. The chicken chimichanga is my favorite, big chunks of chicken and very filling! Great price and portion sizes.

Hidden in an inconspicuous strip mall, El Jimador is as good as it gets around here. Their food is delicious, spiced just right… reminds me a lot of nearby La Caretta but I really feel like it’s a notch above. As far as I can tell, they don’t use sour mix and are squeezing fresh citrus and using simple syrup for their Margaritas. Service is attentive and friendly… bottom line, it’s great overall. News: We learned at our last visit that they are moving 300 S. Willow which is just down the road and will give them more visibility and I’m not sure but I think they will also be changing their name… I asked the manager and he said they’re set to open in the new location at the beginning of November. He said they’re going to have a bigger bar too…

I’ve been there about twenty times at this point. It’s solid. I am going to ding the service level a bit, it’s very waitstaff dependent: one time will be perfect and the next time disastrous. I know ownership has changed over a few times but it’s still a rather solid restaurant and reliable option.

WOW! This place is 5 minutes from our house and we JUST found it… we typically drive about a half hour away to get really good Mexican but no more… we got the El Molcajete… this amazing hot bowl of Mexican, cheesy, meaty goodness! It was SO good and SO affordable… Good service(not jump down your throat friendly when you walk in, and we wouldn’t have known about the dish had I not told our server it was our first time there and asked her what was good, but not a huge deal) but this place is AWESOME! We will be back and back and back for sure!!!

My mother was born in California and has lamented the lack of good Mexican restaurants on the East Coast, in general. That changed when we found this restaurant on Unilocal. The food was authentic Mexican cuisine. Good tasting, with a mélange of flavors, and not just tortillas and beans. Somebody in the kitchen knows their food. I only started eating Mexican in my thirties because I had a tamale once and got sick, so I stayed away from it. Then I started eating at Taqueria La Cumbre, in San Francisco, while attending law school. While I’m still just prone to eat burritos and enchiladas, I know good burritos and enchiladas when I taste them. I ordered a crab stuffed enchilada but was warned that it was imitation crab, so I asked for a shrimp enchilada. It needs to go on the menu. It was great. Tasty, grilled shrimp to perfection with lots of meat in every bite. My mother had a combo of 4 different foods(quesadila, chile relleno, beans and a tamale, I think). She exclaimed over and over again how good the food was, and when we had to go back to Manchester we made a special trip to the restaurant to get meals to go. They give you salsa in a bowl and add an extra bottle for refills, so you don’t have to ask for more and their tortilla chips are crunchy and tasty, likely home made as the pieces were so big. This is a restaurant where the staff appear to like each other a lot, so they huddle in the back talking, which made it hard to get quick service, but they were always friendly. It’s not fast food, but the waiters could be a bit more attentive, especially in a not so crowded restaurant. That being said, I’ll go back over and over again, and it will be worth the wait.

Don’t let the humble exterior fool you — this Mexican place is a gem. From the custom-made«El Jimador» tables and back-room bar section, to the extensive food/drink/dessert menu, this place is the go-to when we’re hungry in Manch. If you haven’t tried the fajitas, you’re missing out. Portions are huge and come with a variety of side dishes, like fresh guacamole, fried beans, rice, and warm tortillas. Between the entrees, free chips, and margarita menu, I dare you to finish your whole plate.(But you’ll want to.) It’s also easy to customize your order. They’re happy to swap in gluten-free options(like corn tortillas over flour) and most of the meat-based dishes can be half-and-half(i.e., half chicken, half beef). If you’re vegetarian, that’s cool too — you have your own section of the menu.

Totally worth it. Not many Mexican places in NH, and this place hits the mark. My friend had crab enchiladas which were ok. But the margaritas were heaven and the salsa was wonderful. The bucket of meat was anew and unexpected excellent surprise. Check this place out.

Initially the husband and I wanted to do brunch over at Portland Pie Co on Elm Street. But for some reason the doors remained LOCKED20 minutes after their opening time. So we gave up and looked for another place. My friend Anthony had raved about El Jimador to me previously so I figured why not. We entered the restaurant and smelled freshly cleaned and the waitstaff immediately sat us in a booth. The décor is colorful and inviting. Makes you forget you are in a strip mall. It is similar to La Carretta in design. For drinks we decided to get the Bloody Maria which was made with Stoli Hot Vodka and their house bloody mix. It was insanely delicious. Basically the best bloody mary I’ve ever tasted. Seriously. Meals: Husband got the enchiladas and I went with huevos rancheros. I’ve never had them before and decided to give it a try since I’d been mocked by friends for it. The waiter was friendly, patient and prompt. My husband enjoyed his enchiladas. There were three and each came with a different meat inside. My huevos rancheros were amazing. Three fried eggs, ranch style, covered in this amazing sauce that was spicy but had a cinnamon background to it which was mind blowing. It came with 4 flour tortillas and I used two of them as a vehicle for some of the eggs. Unbelievable. Both of our entrees came with the traditional rice and refried beans. They were basic but good, just the same. In the end though, I focused more on the eggs and ended up leaving most of my rice and beans on the plate. The price was decent. About $ 10 – 12 per entrée and the drinks weren’t bad either. About $ 6.95 I think. All in all it was a delicious meal and before we even left we talked about how we wanted to bring a couple of our friends there one night and have dinner and drinks together.

I hope it would be a bigger place but the inside is really nice, dinner was excellent they know how to make some good alambres, that I can say, missing some fresh corn tortillas. Service really nice, I would definity come back again and keep on trying their menu!

This is a truly superb eatery just a short drive from the airport. I’ve had my senses locked into Mexican food for a while and the selection in the Lakes Region is nonexistent. So after dropping my spouse at the airport, I stopped here thanks to the Unilocal reviews. El Jimador has a welcoming atmosphere with four-top booths in the front and larger tables and a full bar in the rear. Tastily done painting in pastel colors Their Margarita menu is larger than many large Mexican chain restaurants. And as well, they feature many tropical cocktails as well as wine. I was pleasantly surprised that the ubiquitous tortilla chips and salsa did not spare the picante. That was outstanding. The other item I liked was their asking for my preference in flour or corn tortillas. I am a fan of corn and they were more than willing to please. Although my first time in a Mexican restaurant I normally order the fajitas and that is usually the bar for judging, their extensive menu also featured carnitas, delicious pork morsels that brought me back to the Cuban«Masitas de Puerco». Deliciously sautéed and accompanied with the tortillas, Mexican rice, refried beans and melted cheese. The dinner was superb. And then to my diet’s chagrin, I saw churros in the dessert menu. Yummmm. Service was also extremely good, despite the restaurant being busy. Overall, a keeper. Great meal and will be back.

If you blink you’ll drive right by this little gem. The surroundings fit the typical Mexican Restaurant theme. A wait line to get in is usually a good sign. The waiter was responsible for too many tables but he handled it with a smile and good attitude. Chips and salsa were tasty and plentiful. The chips were not loaded with salt(which so many restaurants do). The menu is extensive; it’s even good for the vegetarian crowd too. I had the Chicken Enchiladas with the Mole Sauce; they did a great job with it. Margaritas are priced from 8 – 15 buckaroos, not bad at all. Food is plentiful and tasty & definitely a super value. Definitely one of best Mexican Restaurants in the area.

This very nice cheerful establishment is well worth the trip. The food is handmade, tender and delicious. I was greeted warmly, and with fresh salsa and fresh hot chips. I ordered a margarita, and told bartender to make her favorite one. Wowza is it good with fresh squeezed lime. The fajita enchilladas are addictive, order them spicy. The steak was fork tender and dishes thoughtfully prepared. I will certainly be back. This is by far the best Mexican place in Manch area!

New England is not known for Mexican food and I have had many very mediocre and bad Latin American meals in these states. I think El Jimador is the best mexican food around. Yes it is a small chain with a few locations but the food is consistently good. Their carnitas was excellent. Chunks of crunchy succulent and flavorful fried pork. Sure the tortillas are not the most authentic. The chips are so so and the salsa is bordering meh… but the rice and refried beans made up for that. Their margaritas are really good and they do not hold back on the tequila. If you are in New Hampshire I would def check them out.
