Hands down the best kabobs in West County, and probably St. Louis! I’m so glad to discover this place via Unilocal.Ordered the Mixed Kabobs and Chicken Tikka, both were very tasty. Even the rice is super tasty! It’s close to our other favorite place Rice Thai Bistro. Sad thing is that the waitress said they will only be open weekends, and they might move to another location in three months. So go here while you still can, they have an email list to keep you updated on where they’ll move. Pros Excellent Kabobs, Large Portions, Super friendly wait staff Cons Place is a bit outdated, Tricky parking entrance Tip Its right in front of West County BMW, blink and you’ll miss it. The sign in front says Michela’s, park at the back and you’ll see the Flames sign and back entrance.

Formerly known as Michaela’s Kabob Palace and Naan and Kabob, now known as Flames Kabob,(I think), this is some of the best Persian food out there. Highly recommend getting the spicy beef koobideh and the chicken kabobs. Sometimes koobideh and chicken kabobs at other Persian places are really dry and lack flavor but both of these are delicious here. They have some afghani menu items and Indian food too like butter chicken. The qabeli pulao is awesome too. The ambiance needs a little work but the food makes up for it! The servers and owners are very nice. On the front of the store facing Manchester, the store still says michaela’s so this is a little confusing and the sign in the back says Flames kabob. Hopefully the sign gets updated! I love the food here though, clean place, fresh flavorful food. Check it out!

Food is good but portion not generous for to go orders especially quantity of Biryani was little according to price. The weekend buffet was very good, try beef kobiedeh very juicy and tasty. Fresh bread was good but I think serve only on Saturday .Over all nice place and good food.

Easily some of the best kebabs in North America. The rice is what makes the kebabs stand out. Very friendly owner — Riza. I highly recommend you try the mixed grill for a good assortment. This place is sort of a hidden gem in St. Louis!

We loved this place when it was Kebab Palace. Note that ownership has changed and that Kebab Palace owners now own Sameem in the Grove and it’s still amazing. Now for this restaurant… All I can say is disappointing! My husband and I love Middle Eastern cuisine, and we’re spoiled with kebab palace. We decided to give this place a try and we’re dismally underwhelmed. There was no one in the restaurant which is never a good sign, and then we continued to hear individuals either arguing or speaking loudly in the kitchen. They used packaged samosas with an admitted packaged chutney :(for the appetizer as they were«out» of pakora. We ordered biriyani and various kebabs and my husbands beef kebab was cold, the biriyani was super oily and seemed«old» like it was re-heated from a previous day and the chicken was under seasoned. The koobideh was so so. Their raita was bland and watery and when I asked if they had a fresh chutney/chimichurri type sauce, which we easily find at middle eastern restaurants. After a lot of rummaging in the kitchen they whipped us up a seemingly fresh parsley/garlic concoction which was commendable. The atmosphere was super strange as an employee was more interested in watching the world cricket championship and checking his«fantasy» stats on the big screen than asking us how our food was. All in all we will not be going back. I say don’t waste your money here and make the drive to Sameem in The Grove instead.

Don’t be fooled by the lack of bells and whistles when you go to this place. The mixed grill and the lamb kabob were absolutely delicious and the rice was done to perfection. The service needs a little improvement, but with time, I think this will come, Insha’Allah.

I would probably give this place a 3.5 but I could probably round up. Ordered the mixed grill. Portions are large-ish. The rice was interesting. It’s a mixed grain rice with a spicy curry flavor. Very aromatic taste to it. The ground beef kabob with decently grilled. The texture was a bit tough for my taste. I tend to like things that are slightly crispy with a soft inside. This was a bit rubbery consistency. The taste was a bit salty. However the combination with the rice was nice. When I combined the kabob rice and grilled tomato I was pleasantly surprised at the final product. It was a great mix together. Individually they were decent. The lamb kabob was a bit tough also. It was nice to have a slight charring to it. Probably the best cooked meat was the chicken. It was soft tender and juicy. Again the combination with rice and tomato was great. I’d say the price quality ratio is decent given the portion size.

As far as Persian food goes, pass on this place. It’s owned by Pakistanis. There is a curry taste in their Persian food, which shouldn’t be there. However, I’m Persian, so I’m a bit more picky than the average non-Persian Midwesterner about how Persian food is supposed to taste. To the average St. Louisan, they probably wouldn’t know the difference.

A hidden gem in West County. I came across this place by accident while waiting at a stoplight at Manchester and 141. I’ve enjoyed some pretty impressive kebabs at outdoor stands outside the United States and this place is easily on par. My favorite is the seekh kabob which comes with buttery basmati rice and a huge serving of grilled meat. The chicken and koobideh combination is excellent as well with unique spices and flavors. Everything suggests authenticity and attention to quality. The décor feels like a dining room in a private home rather than a restaurant, which is fine by me. Menu prices are lower than expected. They keep changing names for reasons I don’t understand but the location and quality are the same.

This place is a wonderful find. Both times my husband and I have been here the food was fantastic. Our concern, and kind of enjoyment was that we were the only people in the place. Quite literally. I have to say that being waited on, and being able to tip the chef directly, was an awesome experience. He really out did himself in not only the cooking, which the food was amazing, but he helped us customize our order so we didn’t over do it, on top of explaining the items more thoroughly. I don’t even know what we ordered, other than it was kabobs and it was wonderful. I think I may have mentioned that. And if you are a tea drinker, the ice tea he made me was so good, I was trying to talk my husband into going back for some more of the tea the rest of the weekend.

This place was good, just not what I was looking for. I wanted a gyro so when we got there he ordered me one, but when it came out It was not shaved meat, but a tube of meat. Don’t get me wrong it was good. We ordered Chicken Tiki Marsala and that was wonderful and a beef Kabob that was great also. I would visit again, but not when I’m in the mood for one thing and I get another.

This location has changed hands numerous times. And you can kind of see why. The location is right off of Manchester but the entrance is behind the building and isn’t very inviting. When you open the doors you are in a foyer with doors to a hair salon on the right. There really isn’t anything that says you need to go down a small hallway to get to the restaurant. It almost feels like you are walking into an abandoned building. But through that hallway and past some dilapidated bathrooms is the dining area. We were greeted immediately. There was only one other table when we arrived. Cricket was playing loudly on the TV. The waiter came over. I asked him to turn the TV done. He did and handed me the remote and said I could watch whatever I wanted. ok? We tried a plate of kabobs, a gyro, and tikki masala. The food was interesting and pretty good. The gyro isn’t what you’d expect. It’s not shaved lamb meat. Ours was a beef kabob with the standard gyro fixings. The fries that came with the gyro are the bomb. The Tikki Masala was good… not great. The kabobs were bursting with flavor and spices. The entrees come with a shit-ton of rice. Plenty to take home. We saw the waiter when we ordered, when he delivered the food, and with the check. Never any other time. The other table was showered with attention. Not sure what that was about. Overall the food is good. The value is good(we spent $ 30). But the service & ambiance leaves much to be desired. …oh and this place is now called Michaela’s

This place is wonderful. The food is amazing!!! We went on a Sat night when they had a $ 12.99 dinner buffet. I think you could order from the menu too, but everyone seemed to just go the buffet route. This is not your typical buffet. It was filled with every kind of kabob, with lean meat, freshly cooked, 2 kinds of rice, another meat entrée, salad, dill yogurt salad, cake, cookies and a fresh fruit salad platter. Everything tasted fresh and recently cooked. Even the parking lot smelled like a kabob BBQ. :-) The same meal ordered from regular restaurants would have easily cost you well over $ 30 per person.

The food is decent but I think we caught them during a slow period and they weren’t ready for us. One of the guys literally had to run out to buy something while we were there – and being idoits, we waited. We did go back though and the kabobs were very good.

Revisited for lunch. It opened under new management with some American menu items but they still have the same great ethnic dishes. The eggplant appetizer is delicious! Great customer service! I hope they do a groupon or something to get people in the door. They need help in the décor area. It feels really old and run down.

This place seems to be called Michela’s these days. They are directly across the street from the BMW dealer and you enter in the back of the building. Once you find it you’ll be happy you invested the time in the search! I took my 14 year old daughter there tonight and we both thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We started with sesame naan bread that was delivered warm and delicious. I ordered the koobedeh and she had the lamb chops. Between the two we were served a salad that seemed a bit out of place and included Italian dressing. When the entrees arrived we were both very please with our orders. There were 5 chops in the kid’s order and mine came with 2 skewers of meat. Much like others recommended, you’ve got to try the rice with carrots & raisins. The baklava was obviously not made on-site but was served warm… an interesting twist. We sampled the house-made ice cream and it was good but we were both pretty full so we passed on it this time.

I wanted to try this place because I have only been to a few Afgan style restaurants and I have passed this place a ton of times. I went with my girlfriend just to try something new, plus my girlfriend wanted to compare it to the Afgan restaurants that she had experienced while in Europe a few months earlier. When we went in the place seemed about empty which was a bad sign to me already, but we sat down and reviewed the menu anyway. I ended up ordering the lamb karachi. I was excited because I had something similar in a Persian restaurant I tried in Columbia Missouri. However, when they brought me my meal I was pretty disappointed. There was not much to eat at all, and although I did not spend an outstanding amount of money I felt like I paid for more than that. The food that I did get was very good, I did enjoy it, but left still hungry. My girlfriend, on the other hand was disappointed with her food because it did not taste like the places she had been and she ended with more vegetables than she did meat. Overall the service here was really good, but I do not think I will be returning, I had a very so-so experience

Currently the best Persian food in St. Louis. The quality of food is very good. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. I have had Persian food all my life. I would say this place is very comparable to some of the best food I have had. If you are new to Persian food, this is the best place to start in STL. The service is good and has very nice staff.

This is a compromise between my partner and myself. She didn’t like her dish, the gyro, but perhaps it was different from her expectations. She didn’t like the the flavo profile. I had the lamb karachi, and i thought that it was good. I will have to try some other dishes before I can really judge this place. The service was good.

I can’t believe I forgot to review this place… I picked up food from here a while back and it was really delicious. I can’t remember exactly what I ordered(two of the vegetarian meals) but I do know the food was high quality and clearly made with expertise. This was the kind of meal where you take a bite and there is an unbelievable intricacy of flavors. Almost decadent but the kind of food where you feel good about it after you eat it. Good, good stuff.

We went here for lunch on a Saturday. There was hardly anyone there, but don’t be fooled — the food is just phenomenal. We had hummus and pita bread to start — the hummus is exquisitely seasoned and creamy. My husband got the chicken beriani(chicken and vegetables stir fried in a special beriani seasoning) and I got the lamb beriani(basmati rice, chick peas, green peas and spinach stir fried in beriani seasoning, served over lamb shank). Both came with special chutney and Afghan bread. They were out of lamb shank at the time so they substituted lamb chops. OMG — the lamb chops were extraordinarily tender and perfectly seasoned… whatever that beriani is. The chutney is mouth watering. I died and went to heaven. For a bit of a hole in the wall place, the food was reasonably priced and tasted absolutely first class! Definitely going back for more!
