We drove for 30 minutes to get to this place. This was on a Wednesday night. We got there at 8:48PM. We were greeted at the front desk and told that they could not seat us since they were closing at 9:30PM. They told us that we could order take out. Please change the timings on your website and outside the door to reflect this. We drove to another Indian restaurant 5 minutes away and they were happy to seat us for dinner. Never coming back to this place.

Best indian food around! We frequent Saffron for the buffet on the weekends. But they have a full menu of spicy, savory cuisine that will blow your mind and satisfy your curry cravings. Top your meal off with a Mango Lassi, and finish it with some warm sweet Gulab Jamun!

The food is delicious but the heat is very inconsistent. I prefer spicy food and they do a 1 – 5 rating system. I always choose 3.5 but sometimes its spicy and sometimes not. The real problem with this restaurant is the service. They are awful. They mostly make you feel like you are inconveniencing them. God forbid you go there anytime after 8:30 — even though they say they close at 9:30 they don’t want to seat you or serve you and they treat you like crap if they do. Pick up the service, Saffron! If they did i would give them a 4.

The quality of food is not the same anymore and their buffet food is stale. It seems they serve all the left over from their dinner menu and the naan is not fresh at all. When i told them to serve me fresh naan they said they dont have anything fresher then that. Bad service and bad management. Stay away from this place!!!

Neither the food was good nor the service. I have been to saffron couple of times for dinner and the food was good. I tried the lunch buffet today and the food was terrible. Some of the dishes were stale and the naan they served was cold. When i ask them to serve warm and fresh naan they told us that the naan they served us is fresh. It seems they dont care about their buffet much. Horrible Food… Horrible Service!

The lunch buffet was reasonably priced($ 10/pp) with an interesting variety. The lack of Chicken Tikka Masala forced me to try some wonderful dishes that I normally would not have selected such as Spinach Chicken, curried potatoes with zucchini and cheese paneer. I’ve been to this restaurant many times for dinner and have never been disappointed. So glad I ventured out to try the lunch buffet.

Food was good BUTCUSTOMERSERVICEWASHORRIBLE. They tried to squeeze 5 people into a 4 person table. My friend was sitting halfway off the edge of the table, and when I asked them for a bigger table, they were super annoyed and gave an attitude and rolled their eyes before finally agreeing to move us. It wasn’t even packed. They took forever to bring us our take out boxes and our checks. Only gave three stars for the good food

Previously rated 5 star but my last trip there the food was disappointing when compared to previous visits. More like a typical US/Indian buffet than the stand out food they used to have. The lack of a goat curry on the buffet, which they always had in the past, will probably mean I don’t go back.

We were visiting a friend’s place and their parents took us to this restaurant. As you enter the front door, hmmmmmmmm, great aroma of heavenly spices overtake your senses and your stomach activates itself and is eveready to accept what food it gets from these aromatic surroundings. The owner, Mr. Akram greeted us and seated us. The service from the servers I thought was average but why I give this restaurant 5 stars is 2 main reasons: A. Akram was going around introducing himself to all guests that had come and just gotten seated. Trying to create a conversation and getting to know his customers. Akram, if you are reading this, please don’t stop this. This is so important in the customer service world I cannot even express it. B. The food was absolutely delightful. Our hosts are vegetarians so I decided to stick to veg too. The samosas; the filling wasn’t to my liking. There are plenty better ones but what was just amazing was the casing. Different casing than what you usually find at other Indian restaurants. My favorite dish was the malai kofta. Yes, on the sweeter side but the sauce was just addictive. The best part of all the food was that it wasn’t oily like a lot of Indian restaurants tend to be and the use of spices is just perfect here. You get each and every flavor on your toungue. It was a chilly night(40s and raining) and this food just comforted our souls and brought a certain warmth within us. When we visit St. Louis again, definitely going to come here.

Unfortunately Saffron, when I first came here 3 – 4 years ago, you were awesome. You guys had a variety of curry meats(goat beef and chicken if I remember correctly) and a bunch of other awesome stuff. I’ve been here 2 times now twice in the past 3 months and you guys have done nothing but disappoint. First of all your variety for the lunch buffet has diminished severely, there is only chicken curry and chicken tandoori for the meat dishes. There was no beef or goat or lamb or whatever else you used to serve. Second your waiter was extremely rude to me and my guests, there was some dried up chicken in the curry and tandoori and it was not good, yet you questioned whether or not I liked chicken… and why I didn’t eat the small remaining pieces on my plate. Well obviously, because it was dry and terrible. The second time I came, same thing, very limited amount of choices, yet you still charge 10 dollars per visit. On top of that, on your own website you guys say you close lunch buffet at 2:30 yet you denied customers entrance at 2PM. I was absolutely shocked when I saw that. Sorry, this is really unacceptable

Always impressed with Saffron! I’ve never had a bad or mediocre meal there. The only problem is that I crave the food for 2 weeks after I’ve eaten there. I have to satisfy the intense craving by going back. MALAIKOFTA rocks! I could have this every day and be perfectly content. PALAKPANEER is my second favorite vegetarian entrée. I’m hook! Also, the entire staff, servers to waiters to buss service, is top notch — friendly, helpful, and professional.

I had to write these guys a review because it’s too good. This is possibly the best indian I’ve ever had, and I’ve eaten a lot of indian in my day across the US and abroad. The staff is very friendly, alert, and accommodating. The food tastes fresh and delicious. Not too heavy, not too light. And the chutney is perfect. My wife and I generally hit the veggie samosas pretty hard to start, then we move on to chicken palak, lamb rogan josh, and aloo gobi. Depending on my mood, I may even smoother all of the above in an impromptu garlic naan wrap(not for amateurs, the elderly or the faint of heart). But we’re also not above tossing in an order of lamb madras or vindaloo. Just depends on what mood strikes us. Bottom line… go here. I have yet to find a place in St Louis that comes close to this, and they’ve earned the business.

Visited Saffron for the first time in too long. This time for takeout. I called in an order at 3pm and it was ready to go at 5pm when they opened for dinner. First off parking is a breeze! Shocking how sparse this shopping center is. Especially since Burlington has now closed. Don’t be deterred! This restaurant is fantastic! There is plenty of seating/tables. The host is always pleasant. Our order included Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Tikka, Lamb Rogan Josh, Chana Palak, Mushroom Saag, Palak Paneer, and Samosas. First off with our order the owner gave us plenty of rice. Which doesn’t typically occur at all Indian restaurants. He was very generous. I did get all the dishes«mild» spicy as kids would be dining. OMG what a delightful meal. But the favorite of all my 4 girls was the Chicken Tikka Masala. Very smooth and creamy with a wonderful hint of spice. All the other dishes were very good as well. With nothing that was subpar. Now I am no indian food expert but knowing«asian» cuisine I felt all the dishes were very flavorful and appropriate. Also indian food is great as leftovers! Thank you Saffron. Keep it up.

After mass on Sunday, we were ready to eat some Indian food! Saffron was close by and we were happy to see they had a lunch buffet available. I read other reviews that said the buffet was a small one, but I thought it was just fine and provided an array of options! While I was disappointed not to find Saag Paneer(although they did have Palak Paneer), I discovered plenty of other delicious items. I think the roasted chicken and veggies were actually my favorite. My husband enjoyed the rice pudding for dessert!

I have been to this place a few times, for lunch buffet and for dinner. I would definitely recommend coming here for dinner because the menu provides a ton of options and they are delicious. They have several types of naan and traditional Northern Indian dishes with veggies or meats. I never tried the Indo-Chinese section of the menu — just didn’t feel like that would fit in well for some reason. The dishes I have tried are always rather flavorful with those spices and delicious. For lunch buffet though, I wouldn’t rave about it as they are your usual Indian restaurant buffet food. The selections were somewhat narrower compared to other places. The quality is not as good as the dishes you get for dinner — smaller plates make a big difference. Overall, I’d recommend going for dinner, even better, with a group.

Went here for the first time last night — Excellent! The lamb korma was as good as I’ve ever had and we’ll be back.

I came here with my parents for our usual Friday night dinner. The food was delish as always. This is one of those meals that I absolutely love cheating on my diet. Well worth the pain. I ordered my usual chicken curry, & we got the meat samosas. The samosas were made with ground chicken(which was good since my dad doesn’t eat beef). The samosas were divine & quite heavenly! The chutneys that came with the samosas were very delish! Service was always great. And the staff gladly accommodated to my dietary needs. This place always gives me a lot of foodgasms.

After another meal here last night, I think Saffron is my new favorite Indian food restaurant in St. Louis. Ambience is very straightforward, but the place is not as loud as some of the others. From the food standpoint, I think Saffron is the best. The food always tastes very high quality. You can generally taste the ingredients in the dishes as well. The portion sizes are very generous so I feel like the place is good value. We have typically gotten the usual Chicken Tikka and Vegetable korma which are both excellent. Lately we have also added an eggplant dish that has been excellent as well. The servers also worked with us to find the right level of spice and they have been right on. I highly recommend!

Husband and I brought Teen 2 here for dinner the other night — she is our adventurous eater who loves Indian food. By the time we left she had declared that this is her new favorite Indian food restaurant. We started with the veggie samosa’s, which are my favorite standard appetizer. They were served hot and full of delicious veggies. They were bigger than what I was used to, about the size of baseballs. That didn’t stop me from hogging a whole one for myself while Husband and Teen 2 shared the other one. For dinner I had something that I don’t remember the name of, but it translates to 5 types of lentils. It was fun to try some different varieties of the legume, and the sauce was spicy(flavor, not heat) and gingery(I know its not a real word, but it fits.) Their naan is probably the best I have ever had. It was fluffy, and had a great flavor. They make it in house and you can really tell. Definitely going to have to get in there and try their lunch buffet one of these weekends.

Delicious food and great service. Gotta get back to try their weekend lunch buffet next. Loved the chicken tikka — the sauce was beautifully creamy and the flavor went on for days while the chicken was cooked perfectly. Sadly, I did not order this dish but lucked out when kid 2 announced she was full and I finished her’s instead of continuing to eat mine. I ordered their mixed tandoori. The flavors were all there and they were all right but the chicken was a bit dry for my liking. Also, the lamb kebab. Sadly, that was about all there was on this dish — chicken 4 ways plus a little bit of lamb kebab. I wish I had tried one of their korma dishes instead. Of note: their naan may be the best I’ve had in STL. Served fresh from the oven it is both pillowy and chewy with a little bit of crust on the side where it was slapped up against the wall of their tandoor oven. Take a piece of this stuff, dredge it in the tikka sauce and you’ll be in savory heaven…
