Funktion Spirits and Spoonfuls

Great restaurant that will be missed. Funktion has officially closed. We tried to make reservations with no one answering the phones all day. We stopped by to find a notice posted by the owners of the sad news. This restaurant will be missed by many for sure.

Great food and service! Cheesecake is homemade plus fresh. We ordered short ribs and black & blue yummmm next time I wanna try garlic and shrimp for sure

Stopped in for a quick dinner and ordered the half chicken with mash and veggies. All of it was great except for a very flat brown gravy that they poured over it. Great atmosphere, staff was very accommodating and while sitting at the end of the bar I got to see a lot of really good looking dishes pass by me. If I were back in Manchester, I wouldn’t mind going back.

This place is a gem! First time trying it for lunch I got the Spinach Salad it is fresh and delicious. The bartender was very friendly I will definetely be back!

Just had an amazing lunch at Funktion today. What a find! Plentiful portions of truly well prepared dishes. I had a delicious chili with scallion and sour cream served with home made tortilla chips and a buffalo chicken rollup with blue cheese, tomatoes and red onions. Fresh and flavorful with just the right amount of spice.
My wife had the spinach salad which featured amazingly prepared roasted butternut squash along with goat cheese, candied walnuts and a honey balsamic dressing on Baby spinach. Followed it all up two delicious locally made coffees. Honestly, we were worried we wouldn’t be able to eat dinner, the portions were so large.
Finally, we must say something about our server, Heather. She was a wonderful guide to the many treats this restaurant has to offer. We’ll be asking for her the next time we go. She mentioned they have a wonderful Sunday brunch with a Bloody Mary bar (I think a pic is attached), we may be back tomorrow!

The pasta special «Cheese Purses» was fresh pasta good cheese and the sause complimented everything well. Special Cab wine was good for 5 bucks. Disliked the bread. Hard day old at least. The sesame seeds were insidious on the hard crust of the bread. Would have been ⁵⁄₅ if the bread was better. Butter was good. Excellent atmosphere with the windows. I love when i ask for drink specials and the server lights up and says we have a great wine Its a CAB for 5 bucks, you should try it.

It was my first time trying funktion! Everything was so wonderful. Heather was an outstanding waitress. The wine and dinner was so so delicious. I can’t believe this place has been here for 8 months and iv never been! I’ll be spreading the word about how good it is here :) :) last thing I need to add to this comment the music hit the spot !

This bar is a must come drink at!!! Bartenders are friendly, atmosphere is amazing and relaxed. Come check out Funktion, you won’t be disappointed!

This place has amazing food and service! I got the Brussels sprouts to start, cooked perfectly and the bacon made it even better. I also got the slider trio with pulled pork, short rib and Asian meatball… wow, so yummy. I wanted more but was too full. Great drinks and atmosphere!

Went here with a few friends before a show and really did enjoy it! Great for a fun night of a few apps and drinks. The food was very good and we will be back. Seems more of a lite bite and a drink place rather than a place for a full dinner but that’s needed in Manchester too.

I was bummed. Ask anyone all I spoke of was trying the strawberry balsamic martini (which was delicious) but went there on a Saturday and my gf was scolded for swearing (sentence enhancers as i call em), AT A BAR. Apparently it was by the owner but so bummed most likely will not be back

This place never lets me down. I stopped by on my day off, i had the stuffed Acorn squash. It was all that i wanted it to be, it is stuffed with a quinoa salad. The salad was perfectly balanced with the red wine vinaigrette. Seems like the new fall menu will be a hit. I will come back to try all the other items on the menu! Thank you guys for the delicious food!

I stopped for dinner midweek and ate at the bar. The restaurant has a modern feel but is extremely welcoming and comfortable. The menu had too many items I wanted to eat! This is good! I had the blue cheese kettle chips. They were fabulous! I also tried the onion dip with them… it was great. For dinner I had the sliders. They were excellent. I couldn’t decide which I liked the most. The Asian meatball was the surprise of the three. They were moist, seasoned well and topped with an excellent relish. The BBQ sauce on the pork and brisket was homemade and really well done. I can’t wait to go back and try some of the specials they have every day!

Everything my husband and I have tried here has been amazing. The overall feeling of the restaurant is funky, with a definite modern twist. There in house drinks are amazing, I would suggest the strawberry balsamic martini, but they are all great. They also don’t have anything in there well that you wouldn’t buy yourself, jack Daniels and captain Morgan to name a couple. All of this and they have great food as well. Not quite your typical tapas but even better, with a new American twist on a lot of favorites. The highest priced food on the menu is $ 12 which leaves you open to try, and share, a lot in one visit. This is definitely somewhere where I will visit again, and bring all my friends to.

I was looking forward to trying this place since I started following them on Facebook. After convincing my friend to give it a try, we visited them on a Friday. We were able to sit outside which was great, but that was the only plus of the evening. How I was so wishing I would like it! EVERYTHING was slow. The drinks, slow. The food, SLOWWWWW. And it wasn’t busy when we got there. I got the grilled cheese and bacon bites. It’s a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon that they’ve cut up for you. Not worth the $ 10 they charged. I also had the stuffed avocado salad which was good, but again not worth the amount they charged. They also served the plates as separate «courses». They’re tapas not courses so I find that unnecessary. Also, this isn’t disclosed when you order or when they bring out the first dish so we sat there waiting 20 minutes wondering what the heck was going on. Everyone that was sitting outside was remarking on how slow the service was. The person next to us actually got up and went into the restaurant to get their bill and then back in to pay it. I would encourage them to have a few entrees, get better at efficiency, and re-​evaluate their price point.

Anyway, this place is a small new bar/​restaurant that wants to attract an older crowd in Manchester. They took the spot where Dos Amigos used to be. While it looks different now, I still pine for those dos tacos. This place will need some time to find it’s place in the downtown restaurant scene.
