It’s so gross here. Some of the vinyl seats are literally duct taped together and the booth I sat in wasn’t even properly secured to the frame so it kept shifting back and forth under me. I was here for lunch and walked past one of the nastiest looking buffets I’d ever seen. Half the trays were empty or nearly empty and what was there you could see the grease sheen on all the food. I ordered scallion pancakes and a lo mein and they were inedible. The pancakes were undercooked with nearly raw dough inside and the lo mein was flavorless and covered with grease, easily the greasiest Chinese food I ever had. I was served what looked to be the awful buffet food as an entrée I’d guess, as it came 5 minutes after I ordered it. I didn’t get more than 3 bites of food in before giving up the meal, paying for my soda and leaving to find something else to eat. The only reason it doesn’t get one star is because the waitress was friendly. If you want Chinese in the area, head to Thousand Crane, literally right across the street. It’s at least average Chinese as opposed to this place. I’ll never be back here again.

The food here is fantastic and pretty authentic(coming from someone who has lived in China). I’ve had their sesame chicken and kung pao chicken, the latter of which was the closest I have found to «real» Chinese food in this country. That said, the service here is markedly terrible: we seat ourselves and go unnoticed for extended periods of time, the women working here are so eager to get the order cooking that they leave before we finish ordering, no refills on water(if we even get the first glass), and the buffet always seems to be closed regardless of the day. Still, prices are reasonable and the food is excellent. We will continue to come back.

We eat here frequently enough that as the waitress seats us she usually asks, «Scorpion Bowl for two?» So we don’t disappoint her we usually say yes. Our last visit was Christmas night 2010. There was a different waitress so no Scorpion Bowl. We ordered by the numbers: P2(Egg Foo Yung) and N1(Shanghai Noodles). Apparently the waitress didn’t understand my accent, or I hers. I had to keep repeating my order: «N1». And she keep asking, «And one what?» My girlfriend tried to cut the exchange short, «the number one». The waitress looked at her. I glared at her, and pointed at the item on the menu, «N1!» «Ah N1». Success. The food was nice, hot and tasty. Not too greasy. The rice was a little dry and not as sticky as I like it. Being Christmas the place was busier than usual, though it was mostly take out.

I checked out Peking garden 2 this winter with a work associate. Our dinners were dissapointing and high on the greasy side. The meal fell short of the kind of quality meal I have come to expect from Downtown Manchester and hit a mark somewhere around that of a mall food court. For Asian cuisine I would suggest heading across the street for two better options.

Good solid inexpensive Chinese food. No surprises. Hot n sour soup with the Kung Pao chicken combo is always a winner, decent fried rice. 3 Stars for food adding a stars for price, consistency, and the fact that they deliver.

As previously predicted, I knew I’d come back with a better experience and re-review. After coming here several times because it fast, convenient, and close to my apartment, I’ve grown to love this place. Especially convenient when I am cramming for an exam and can’t leave and they deliver the meal right to my door. They actually have the flat rice noodles(chow fun) that I looove and miss so much ‘cuz it’s not that common here. And they have great black pepper beef. And I love their egg drop soup the most out of all the places I’ve been. I’ve dabbled here and there on their menu, and it seems that the rest of their food is pretty solid. So, here you go, Peking Garden 2! Yay! I’m a fan!

I’ve only ever gone for their lunch buffet, but that is generally quite tasty, and if you’ve got a large enough party you can claim the lazy-susan table, which makes the trip worth-while.

Two stars for having Suan La Chow Show on the menu which was just okay and really needed to be spicier. Everything else was the usual greasy american-chinese.

Great place for quick and friendly service. The food is good and typical chinese, but the service and friendliness is what makes this place so great. Scorpion bowls are delicious and very strong, and the lunch and dinner specials are very affordable. They now have 2 for $ 9.99 lunch buffets!

The only downtown Chinese restaurant has a loyal following. The food is great. We often take out or get delivery(very, very, quick!) and the quality of food does not wane. Eating in the restaurant – service is excellent and there is a casual family feel to the place. I have always wanted to try the bar(looks intriguing) but have not had a chance.

The Peking Garden 2 has a full bar, Chinese decorations, the upper walls painted a light seagreen, and two shades of light blue. The wooden seats have a dragon carving on the backrest with red seat cushions covered in plastic. I had the lunch buffet($ 6.95 served Tuesday-Friday) and some complementary hot tea. The buffet had basic offerings including veg. lo mein, pork fried rice, pork slices, beef & broccoli, pineapple chicken, fried chicken, pork dumplings, string beans, sweet & sour chicken, egg rolls, spring rolls, crab rangoon, scallion pancake, egg drop soup, and hot & sour soup, oranges, and sugar fried rice noodles. The hot & sour soup was bland and the other foods were typical greasy Chinese food, nothing special. The service here was friendly.

Some people tell me that Peking Garden isn’t actually that good. but I must disagree! Their tofu is interesting, in a tasty way, and the complimentary fried won ton type things are most excellent. On top of that the décor is nice and the staff is excellent, I just hope I’m not the only person who feels this way.
