This is one of my favorite sushi places in Louisiana. The food is always great, the prices are right, and the staff is always friendly. A great experience overall. I wholeheartedly recommend it

While I have not been to every sushi place in West St. Tammany, I have been to many, and this place is the best. Huge portions and fresh fish. Lunch prices are obviously much cheaper but even dinner prices are worth it.

Megumi is hands down the best sushi spot on the Northshore. It’s the freshest and the most beautifully presented sushi of the 6 places I’ve been in the Mandeville Covington area. Nothing else comes close. Only downfall is the Christian music station. I wish they would just stick with an Asian theme there. I love Jesus but as a Jew I don’t want to hear it blaring while having a sushi orgasm.

The menu here is huge and doesn’t have images, so be prepared to read through pages to understand what the difference is between an ‘aloha roll’ and a ‘Hawaiian roll.’ I asked the server for some suggestions and he wasn’t very fluent in English or very helpful. I ordered a lobster roll, but it was drowned in mayo and various sauces and not a lot of actual fish. The portions are huge but quality not so great. Id suggest you select a different sushi place

Great hole in the wall to get sushi. There are so many rolls to choose from, you definitely will not go home hungry. Me and my wife frequently go about once every two weeks. The wait staff is nice, fast and there is usually no wait to get in. Me and my wife always get the Drew Bree’s roll, snow crab naratu and the blt roll.

I sat down with my date, and we placed our drink orders. They were promptly brought, along with a HOTFREAKINGTOWELOFMAGICANDLOVE that we used to clean up with. A delicious soup was also brought out WITHOUTUSASKING that we sipped while we perused their SUSHIMENUOFINFINITEDESTINY. They have quite a selection. My date and I ordered a roll each, and considered ordering more. That is until the GOLDLYROLLSOFGRATUITOUSBOUNTY were presented. Quite majestically I might add. While some sushi restaurants are content with calling a volcano roll a volcano roll and calling it a day, Megumi’s was stacked and covered in spicy tuna. I ATE A MOUNTAINOFSUSHIWITHSPICYTUNALAVA. There was plenty of food for us both, with barely enough room for tempura ice cream which was also very good(sorry, food coma is setting in, losing steam). All in all great experience. I wouldn’t dream of docking a star, but I will say my dinner could have been improved if they hadn’t been playing Christian pop music. I seriously didn’t even know it still existed and honestly didn’t need the reminder. Regardless, I’ve found my new favorite sushi restaurant.

Went on Christmas Eve for lunch. Lunch menu seemed very generous. we ordered teriyaki chicken/sushi lunch special. The meal started off with clear soup that stunk to high heaven’s… That should’ve been the tip off. Big portions… The fish was bad, the chicken was old, microwaved, frozen and also all bad… Nothing teriyaki about that chicken it was bland and disgusting The platter of salads was mishmash of disgusting sauces the lettuce was wilted I can’t even explain to you how horrible it was. . That was at noon it is 1:30AM and I am sure I have food poisoning! thanks a lot! Don’t go there don’t order the chicken teriyaki it is awful!

My husband and I frequent Megumi(in both Covington and Mandeville) at least once a month – it is, by far, our favorite restaurant on the Northshore! Megumi has the best sushi I’ve ever had, and the service is always top-notch. It is our choice restaurant for anniversaries, birthdays, and special occasions too. Our favorite rolls are: Hawaiian Breeze, Megumi II, BLT roll, Bang Bang Shrimp roll, and Princess Poki. Everything is good, but those are must-haves. It can get a little pricey, depending on how much and what you order, but it’s totally worth it!

Sushi was great a little hard to decide so many elaborate rolls to choose from I recommend the BBQ salmon roll, it was definitely my favorite. Service was ok, but overall great sushi. GOHERE!

If you dine in with a small party the service is pretty fast; however, if you have a large party the service is slow and chances are you will have to remind them that you are waiting for your drink, appetizer, etc. Overall they have a huge sushi list and the sushi is above par. The presentation of the rolls is a work of art. It seems like you get more sushi when you dine in versus take out.

Once ever year or two I visit Megumi just to see if things have changed. Nothing has changed. There are just too many sushi places with much better service to come here often. Service is terrible. Awful. Presentation is beautiful Sushi is decent Kitchen items are hit or miss Our latest venture to Megumi consisted of my daughter and myself. We ordered beverages and the appetizer of snow crab and fried calamari which sounded interesting. The calamari comes out and the pieces are very large. I found a smallish piece and could barely chew it because it was so tough. My daughter tried a piece but couldn’t bite through it. Rubbery is a good word. We moved the plate to the outer side of our table. Our waitress walked by several times and ignored the dish. Finally, when she came to take our lunch orders I asked her to take the plate away and told her that the calamari was too rubbery to bite into. She rolled her eyes, said nothing and walked away. We ordered three rolls. Our rolls came out with beautiful presentation but the sushi wasn’t put together tight enough and all the pieces kept falling apart. A simple crunch roll was made so large that the diameter of it would barely fit into the palm of my hand and it was at least 2″ thick! We are experienced chopstick eaters and there was zero chance of taking a bite without the whole roll falling apart. We couldn’t even get the roll from the main plate to our small plate without it breaking up and falling apart. Have you ever tried eating a sushi roll one chopped cucumber at a time? Ordered the rice paper roll as well as the Drew Brees roll. Both were tasty and pretty but again the Drew Brees roll, while not as giant as the crunchy roll, kept falling apart. We were not offered refills and had to flag down a random waiter to request refills. Again, while the food is ok, I can’t get past the service or the consistency of the rolls. There are just too many better places with MUCH better service to ever go to this place.

The Best Sushi I have had in my Entire Life! The Menu is the most colorful and largest one I have ever seen! The portions are massive, and the most afford for the quality they serve. Every time I am there I feel like I’m being served like a king! I have been known to spend $ 70 on just sushi there before. The greatest thing about the sushi masters is that they are not bound just by the enormous menu they can also be creative and make you stuff off the menu! Everyone there is so grateful for your attendance!

Megumi is not my regular sushi place, but I was in the mood for something new. What I found was some of the best sushi I have ever had, but the service was very poor. The menu is very large. There were at least five double sided legal sized pages of rolls. If I remember correctly the rolls were listed in alphabetical order and there were no separate listings for regular vs. specialty rolls. This was a lot to take in, and picking what we wanted took some time. Our server checked with us once before we were ready, then disappeared. When she finally returned we placed our order. The way the food was delivered was very disorganized. Even though we ordered an appetizer, it came out after all of our rolls. Drink refills were few and far between, and it was difficult to get our servers attention throughout the meal. At the end of the meal getting the check, and getting the server to run my card took at least 15 minutes. It left me highly frustrated. The saving grace was the food. The sushi rolls were among the best I ever had. My dining companion and I ordered: Blue Water Roll– jumbo lump crab meat and avocado. Topped with tuna, black caviar, eel sauce, white sauce and sesame seeds. $ 13.95 Playboy Roll — coconut shrimp, snow crab, and avocado. Topped with fresh salmon, tuna, eel sauce and sesame seeds. $ 11.95 Crunchy Roll — snow crab, asparagus and punchy tempura. $ 5.95 These rolls were amazing. I highly recommend the Playboy roll. In hindsight I wish I had ordered two of these because it was that good. The rolls here are larger than traditional sushi rolls. I would estimate that they were at least one foot long, and had approximately 12 individual pieces per roll. I will probably return to Megumi because the food was so good. I just hope they improve their level of service.

Large and varied menu, very reasonable prices. The food was beautifully presented with nice portions. I had coconut chicken and noodles that was absolutely awesome. The sushi rolls at our table were beautiful. The tempura lunch we had was huge with salad, cantalope, cucumber salad and a great selection of veg and shrimp tempura. My only complaint is that they brought out individual dishes as they were prepared and it was slow. By the time the fifth person at our table got served, the first was already done. Highly recommend but it may be slow.

Ive been to them all, oh so many times. This is by far, my favorite place of all in Mandeville area. I come here every single time I come back home to visit, in fact, its a new tradition with my friends and I. Every roll is huge and stuffed with large, tender pieces of fish. Nothing skimpy here. We got the Big Mac roll($ 14) this time around. Only had 4 actual pieces, but each one was as big as a steak and stuffed with everything you can imagine, even had a softshell crab inside. Excellent sushi, rolls and service. Its in a strip mall, but so what. You are not coming to stare at the place from the parking lot. I cant imagine anyone being disappointed here. I may be their # 1 fan. We usually order way more than enough so we will have lots leftover to take home and eat later on in the day. YUM

EDIT: My husband and I purchased the Groupon for Megumi on Friday, 11⁄12. Per the rules of Groupon, we could not use it until the next day. When we went in, the hostess informed us that they were not accepting the Groupons until Monday. Nowhere in the fine print does it state this. So if you buy the Groupon for this place, don’t bring it by until Monday(and I would be surprised if they accept it then too). At first glance, this place looks very unassuming. It’s in a strip mall, and it looks kind of small from the outside. Don’t be fooled though, inside is the best sushi you’ll ever have. Their sushi menu is enormous, and if you like specialty rolls, you’ll find many of them along the standards of California and cucumber rolls! The slices of sashimi are thick and super-fresh. They also have an extensive menu of cooked food, including a great yakimono grill menu(meats and veggies marinated and grilled on skewers). Don’t be afraid to bring non-raw fish eaters here. On top of being delicious, their presentation is GORGEOUS. Most sushi restaurants are fairly basic, but these people put some serious effort into not only making everything delicious, but beautiful. My Dragon Roll was formed in the shape of a dragon. My friend’s sashimi plate looked like a work of art and was topped off with a flower. I’ve never seen food be so pretty. A slight warning — their portions are HUGE.(I know, such an awful warning.) We always seem to order too much food. If you have a habit of your eyes being bigger than your stomach, be aware of this and order a little less.
