Red Apple

Good food and love that they deliver but don’t order on the weekends because if you’re like us last night you’ll be waiting over an hour and a half! We called twice and were told that we would just have to wait!!! The gentleman did apologize when he delivered the food but about 20 minutes later we received a phone call from them, I answered thinking it was the manager calling me back and that they were going to give us a credit because we had to wait for so long and called twice, but no! it was a young lady calling telling us we didn’t give them enough money! I paid them exactly what the online order said including more than 20% tip! She said we still owed a couple dollars because we had shrimp fried rice instead of the normal pork fried rice… We didn’t receive a call saying it would be more and in the past we haven’t been charged more and the gentleman who delivered the food didn’t say anything about owing more, I gladly would’ve given the difference since it was minor… She told me that she was going to make the driver pay for the difference which in my opinion shouldn’t happen… when I mentioned that we had to wait over an hour and a half for the food and they should just take care of the less than 2.00 that we owed and not the driver she didn’t even know what to say!!! Good food but poor customer service and this isn’t the first time we have had to wait more than an hour!!! If you know your weekends are busy then you need to hire the appropriate amount of people to take care of that business! If someone doesn’t show up to help deliver then the manager should be called so he can come help run the business and deliver the food!

It’s been about a year and tonight I decided to try Red Apple again because it’s close by, and I still have not found great Chinese food anywhere in the greater New Orleans/​Northshore area. Oh how I miss Scallion Pancakes!
Anyway, tonight I tried something different from here and it was really good. I chose a menu item from their ‘healthy Diet Menu’, which was Steamed Shrimp with Green Jade (Broccoli, Zucchini, and Snow Peas) $ 10.50. Unfortunately they were out of Snow Peas, but I asked if they could substitute with Eggplant and they were happy to. A Brown sauce comes on the side, so you can decide how much to add to the food. I also ordered a large Hot & Sour Soup $ 3.95.
The Steamed Shrimp dish was so delicious, fresh, healthy and filling that I am certain that I will be adding this as a regular rotation to my take out food options. The brown sauce that came with the dish is made without Oil or MSG. It was fairly thick and had a bit of a ginger/​soy flavor to it. it was good, and I loved having the control as to how much to add. The shrimp were large, there were 12 of them, and they were fresh, tender, flavorful and succulent. I was stuffed with about ½ the meal, and get to have lunch with the rest tomorrow. I really enjoyed this meal and how great my body felt after finishing. None of the usual Chinese food regret I usually have (ugh, I feel awful and bloated, why did I order Chinese, lol), or the itchy nose I normally get from the MSG.
On to the Hot & Sour Soup. This soup I was not such a fan of. It had a little heat to it and a good amount of mushrooms and tofu and bamboo shoots, but it also had pieces of chicken in it, which I didn’t like. I prefer my Hot and Sour soup to be vegetarian, and most of the time it is, so I was surprised to taste the chicken. I think next time I’ll skip the soup and go for the Steamed Shrimp and the Veggie Dumplings.
I also appreciate that they are open until 9:30 M-​T, and I believe 10 PM the rest of the week. I tend to eat late, so the later hours really suit my schedule. I’m happy to be able to update my review from a 2 ½ star to a 4 star! Good going Red Apple!

Good for cheapie chinese. Reasonable priced combo plates. Not to mention they deliver, which is a plus when you dont want to leave the house. They have a nice size menu, we usually stick to the combo dinners and maybe an appetizer.

Consistently delicious, fresh Chinese food. I always just take out… there is a sit down area but it’s small and not particularly comfortable looking. But, the food is awesome! And the service first rate. Ready in 15 minutes for pick up (which I always do) but also available for delivery. Lots of choices and very reasonable pricing. Go for the all day combo specials which include a main dish, fried rice and an egg roll. Can’t beat this value for a really yummy dinner!

Not a fan! Family ordered several things and they all had enough grease on them to fry a dozen chickens. One order at the bottom of the small container was ½ cup of grease.

Very low quality Chinese food. I had a hard time finding the chicken in the breading in my Gen. Tsao’s chicken, the dumplings were underwhelming, and the sweet and sour chicken reminded me of a mall food court.
The egg rolls and fried rice were o. k… but not good.
Do yourself a favor and find another source of Chinese food.

If you want good Chinese delivered this is your place. Great food, reasonable prices, and fast delivery. Tried them last week and was totally pleased

Awe this place is good! They have fast service and the food is good! I love the shrimp and broccoli, it’s my fav. Basically anything with shrimp is awesome! I recently tried green pepper steak it was pretty good too. Good food, cheap prices, AND… They deliver!

Ordered delivery for the first time last night and it was AMAZING! The price for the food was very competitive. The food arrived fairly quickly and was super fresh and hot! My husband said that was the best crab rangoon he had ever had! This is a MUST for anyone looking for great delivered food at a great price. We are looking forward to seeing how the dine in experience is. We would highly recommend this place!

Everything here is awesome!!! The delivery is fast and the food is always hot as well as fresh. I will miss this place terribly now that I live in Seattle, Washington. The Chinese food SUCKS here. I wish Red Apple could deliver 2700 miles away.

Ate here because they advertise healthy and vegetarian menu items. Had two different entries. No seasoning whatsoever and you add your own sauce brought out on the side. Kinda nice in that you choose how much to add, but flavored did not meld in the cooking process so could have been better. Huge portions. We ended up with 5 meals from the 2 entries. Fast friendly service.
