Excellent Soo Bakh Do studio!!! I first joined with the goal of getting my legs stronger because I was having trouble with balance. After attending for several months now, there has been a huge improvement in not only my legs, but my whole body as well. With my training, I’ve also built up endurance. I’ve gotten much stronger since I first started and I’ve also met some great people. It is an incredible environment to not only learn martial arts but to also have fun in the process. The instructor, Dr. D. K Kwon is a very kind and an amiable teacher. What got me interested in this particular dojo was the teacher was also a physical therapist. There was a time where I’ve had neck spasms while training and master Kwon treated it right then and there. Kwons Wellness also offers physical therapy and chiropractic work. Do check out there website– . I highly recommend this martial arts studio if you want great overall health!

I send my 4 year old daughter here and I feel that Master Kwon truly cares about what he is teaching. He shows them how to control their minds and how to respect him as a teacher/authority. He is also very fun and caring when he needs to be, so to keep them motivated and feeling safe. Great class to send your kids.

If you are looking to get in shape, protect yourself, build your confidence, increase your flexibility or all of the above, then look no further than Kwon’s Karate. I have been training here for the past 20 years and this is as good as it gets when it comes to fitness and karate. You will have an amazing time, meet new friends and find new levels of energy. This isn’t the latest sports craze, it’s a 70 year old traditional Korean martial art that will help you live longer and enjoy your life. What more could you want?

This is a truly awesome place for both children and adults. Highly recommended! We started out as a therapy for my then 6 years old son who was challenged with general anxiety disorder, hyper-sensitivity to noise and OCD. At first, he struggled, often running out crying in the middle of sessions. The staffs at Kwon’s karate really knew how to manage him in the most gentle and nurturing yet firm manner. Now, after several years of persistent training and support from everyone including fellow students and parents, he is thriving and looks forward to reach his next belt level. I owe a tremendous gratitude to Kwon’s karate for my son’s heightened confidence and training level.

My 15 year old son has been attending for a year and it is the best thing we ever did! The discipline and self control that they teach is priceless. When we miss a few days, we really see the difference our son. He loves it and is excited to go. We live in Garden City and it is well worth the drive. There is no where else like it. Try it and you will not be disappointed!

Great, friendly, and unique place in which you can learn the traditional Korean martial art of Soo Bahk Do with highly skilled and well-mannered instructors. It’s a great place to be fit, learn self defense, discipline, and even gain confidence. Kwon’s Wellness has not only a program for Martial Arts but Fitness & Yoga and a Chiropractic clinic as well. Dr. Kwon or Dae Keun SBN is a great certified Soo Bahk Do master instructor as well as a licensed physical therapist. I went in for a treatment once for my stiff neck and it feels like it’s almost as good as new. Highly recommend!

Kwon’s Karate studio practices Soo Bahk Do, a traditional Korean martial art. I’ve trained here for over twenty years. Kwon’s is more than just a place of business, it’s a family thats trains together and supports each other. If your looking to be apart of something and feel accomplished than this is the place for you. Master H.Y. Kwon is a very hard working, dedicated, and extremely talented instructor. Along with his two children who are masters as well obtaining much talent and knowledge of the art. I’m proud to have the Kwon family in my life. I’ve learned a lot over the years. I would give them much more than 5 stars if Unilocal allowed it ;)

Kwon’s karate is the best studio I’ve ever practiced in. They are very passionate about their art. They pay attention to each of the students’ individual needs. The Kwon family is very warm and welcoming. I’ve lost weight, gained confidence and discipline, and of course learned some serious self defense!

I’ve trained at one or two different schools, and I can easily say that Kwon’s Karate is the best school I’ve trained in so far. Its a fantastic school for learning the traditional Korean martial art Soo Bak Do. They train you in the both the physical art and the philosipical aspects of Soo Bak Do. Not only are the instructors dedicated to their art: they are also dedicated to helping you improve as an martial artist. The sense of community at Kwon’s Karate is unparalleled at any other school I’ve practiced at. The other students and instructors of the school not only become friends to you, but family. Basically, the level of instruction offered by this school is fantastic, and is only surpassed by their sense of community.

Okay a more thorough review this time. I’ve been training Soo Bahk Do(the style that the Kwons teach here) for almost a decade now. It’s a Korean martial art taught in the traditional military manner: standardized techniques through committee and frequent instructor training, emphasis on group learning and acting as a family(we’re there to help each other learn), rank and chain of command. The Kwon family are some of the best instructors out there. Hyuk Yoon Kwon, the head instructor at this dojang, is one of the highest ranking members in Soo Bahk Do. His two children, Dae Keun and Esther are also instructors that maintain the high level of martial competency. No matter what your age, from toddlers to the elderly, you’ll be well taken care of. Self-defense, sparring, philosophy, mental and physical training, and self-improvement. It’s the whole package. The real deal. You will not be disappointed.

Kwon’s Karate has been teaching the Korean Martial Art of Soo Bahk Do at the Manhasset, NY location for 20 years. Master HY Kwon founded the school and now his children, Master Dae Keun Kwon and Master Esther Kwon are actively managing and teaching at the Kwon’s Karate, as well as Master HY Kwon himself. At the school the environment is like a big family. Although, the martial arts training is strict and very disciplined when learning self-defense, sparring and basic hand/foot techniques, but also, very nurturing and caring all around. There are many senior martial artists who are great mentors for the beginners and young students as well. The longevity of the school at its present location speaks for itself. If you looking for a martial art school for self-defense, physical conditioning, mental discipline, camaraderie, philosophy to name a few, then it is all here at Kwon’s Karate. Please visit and experience it for yourself first hand. There is something for everyone at Kwon’s Karate. Go check it out!

Old school Korean Karate. This is an authentic, «live what you teach» type of do-jang. We have sent our kids here for years, and they’ve learned so much more than just forms, kicks and punches. They have gained focus, respect, courage, friendship and, most of all, self-esteem. Only recently have I come to understand how accomplished the masters at Kwon’s are. The owner, Master Kwon, is one of the highest ranking members of the US Soo Bahk Do, and an 8th degree black belt. I have heard some other black belts drive long distances to train here. Master Kwon’s son and daughter both teach here. While all the masters are terrific with kids, they also expect a lot from them. This isn’t your strip mall, style-over-substance kind of Karate chain. You train here and stay here because you want to learn the art of Karate — whatever your age. It’s family run, and they’ll treat you like one of the family.
