Love this place. Everything taste yummy. The cookies are the best. If a friend or family member needs cheering up their cookies will do the trick!

For some reason I had never gone into Becker’s Bakery for the whole time I’ve lived here, even though it’s right down the block from my favorite Mexican food place. I finally stopped in with my little cousin and we got cookies to share while we were on the beach. I really like their cookies with the sprinkles on it. For my mom’s birthday my dad came and picked up various cupcakes, cookies, brownies, etc. All of the stuff we sampled was very good but also very sweet. I also heard from Unilocal that the donuts here were superb. To me, they are good but not mind blowingly amazing. I still stand by that their rainbow sprinkle cookies are the best things here!

Becker’s bakery is another bakery that’s been a staple in Manhattan Beach for a long time. Now in business for 74 years, Becker continues to delight Manhattan Beach locals w/a colorful array of cookies, cupcakes, and specialty cakes that draw fans of all ages to the weet smelling Manhattan Beach storefront. With cupcake varieties like maple bacon, Becker has been keeping up greatly with changing palate of foodies and keeps its place as the top bakery like Portos in Burbank, Downey and Glendale despite all of the trendy cupcake stores that have popped up all over the South Bay. –When you first walk into Becker’s bakery, be sure to look down and notice the sign embedded into floor that reads, «Since 1942». Becker’s is the one of the last remaining old-time business left in Manhattan Beach still making their unforgettable sugar cookies among various confections! While Becker’s bakery has changed over the decade, one thing remains a constant, a furious devotion to quality and family tradition. First, I decided to order my birthday cake from Portos as I’ve been always ordering triple Leche cake for my birthday every year. The reason why I ordered my bday cake from Becker’s is because It’s rather more convenient for me to order and pick up my birthday cake as I moved to West LA back in last March from San Fernando Valley and it’s long distance from Burbank and Glendale for me to pick up the cakes from there as some of these cakes are perishable. Therefore, I wanted to give this place a try based on my Unilocal buddy Richard L’s tip. These are thoughts of each item that I’ve tried so far here in Becker’s. 1. Cinnamon Sugar Cronut — One of the best selling item and yet recommended item in Becker’s. it’s so crispy and yet tasty. I am addicted to their Cronut now after I tried last time I went to Becker’s before I was ordering my birthday cake couple months ago.(4⁄5) 2. My second time if I can remember or recall it correctly, I went to this place for the Oatmeal jumbo and the rainbow sugar. Besides many yummy looking donuts and cakes, unfortunately the Oatmeal cookie was super chewy and taste reminds me of brown and white sugar cookies that are usually eaten during Christmas season. What I was really looking forward was to try Becker’s famous sugar cookies. Unlike chewy Oatmeal cookies, it did live up to the hype! If you ever crave for sugar cookies, these are the best cookies you can imagine for your holiday season! Perfectly round and soft with just right amount of sweetness, the cookie brought me to a different world. For my future visit, I will grab more than 3 or so.(50⁄100 for Oatmeal cookies and 90⁄100 for sugar cookies). Becker’s yummy cookies brightened my days last time I went there… –If you remember reading my tip that I wrote 4 months ago or so, Jumbo cookies such as Oatmeal, Iced Oatmeal, or Chocolate chip) are $ 1.25 each. Sugar cookies starts at 25 cent for the small plain sugar cookies and it can range up to 2 to 3 bucks for decorated sugar cookies. My rainbow sugar cookie was 75 cents each… Prices are quite reasonable by the way which is the winner!!! 3. Sandwiches — Sadly, it’s on the dry side that I can’t really recommend to you at all. FAIL!!! SERVICE — Service definitely needs an improvement and owner and decorator weren’t really nice and no smile to me at all! They were rude to me last time I went there to pick up my birthday cakes. When I was inquiring about certain items that I don’t recognize, they did give me an attitude which is no bueno at all unlike the great service that I received from Portos. Hope this explains why I lowered 1 star on my review besides great birthday cakes, cookies and cupcakes. I will give you an another chance! If you treat me better next time I come, I will give you one more star for that when I feel like I need to update my review!!! YAY! They do now makes Gluten-free cupcakes and Gluten-free cakes. That’s awesome from now on! ***Please note that they do need 24 hours advance notice for all cakes, especially Gluten-Free ones!!*** PS. Just ask the multitude of kids lining up for cookies, the twenty-somethings ordering specialty cupcake for friends, and parents picking up custom made birthday cakes!!!

I just love that girl! Everybody is always so friendly and they have the most delicious cookies! I’ve never tried their sandwiches but I’ve seen on the other Unilocal reviews that they have great sandwiches. I’ll have to give that a try at some point. This place is just the perfect quaint little dessert shop.

I enjoy this bakery once in awhile when I am in Manhattan Beach. I have had the cupcakes, and they are tasty! Also, decent prices compared to some other bakery shops. Nice sweet side with a Starbucks coffee! :)

The sandwiches are like a homemade sandwich, I was not impressed. The cupcakes are moist, would definitely go bake for any of their baked goods. Although a little disappointed that they only have vanilla and chocolate cupcakes, their frosting on display makes them look like they have different flavors. The little girl behind the counter could smile more while providing service.

I found the best place for chocolate cookies in the South Bay! At first glance the cookie looked too thin and possibly crunchy. Tried it anyway and it was soft and chewy. Not too doughy. Score! Price is reasonable. They don’t charge $ 3 for a cookie like some places. Their cookies come in 2 sizes and I saw 2 different flavors when I was there(chocolate and oatmeal).

A Rare 5 star, but from France’s patisseries to Shibuyas Mochi nights, Beckers is simply all the simple and great things American and yummy! The Red Velvet cupcake in 3 sizes is legend! The local staff are great, their support of the beach community is above the rest and it’s a down home bakery. No hype needed here! It’s the word of mouth ! Yes while other bakeries market greatness and supreme, I tried them and they supremely take your money. Beckers is every week, every party and manhattan beaches one and only as we all know. Call first!

The sprinkled cookies were amazing. Although, I was not impressed with the vanilla cupcake. The frosting tasted like Pillsbury, nothing great. The cake broke and was very dry. Not impressed.

I went here to pick up a gingerbread house kit for my daughter for Xmas. This is the first time she’s decorated a gingerbread house, so I decided to go get one that was already all packed up with a kit. I thought it was really awesome with the amount of candy and decorations that came with the kit, and also all the royal icing to really make a spectacular gingerbread house that your kid will admire and enjoy for a few weeks during the holidays. I thought the kit price was a bit on the steep side given that i knew I was gonng just throw it away after a few weeks. It felt like a huge waste, but I guess the experience was fun.

I come back here at least once every time I visit home! The happy face cookies are yummy because of the fudge frosting. I always have visitors that don’t understand the hype about some iced sugar cookies, but they get it after I make them eat it. They also have fun frosted designs — saw Justin Bieber last time. They’re soft and have such perfect texture. The oatmeal cookies are also great and come in a fun huge size.

Todd(the owner) is a neurotic sociopath. A friend is a former employee and here’s the dish: *Todd is obsessive over every little detail and acts rudely to his employees who in turn hate working due to walking on eggshells. *He’s gross. He licks the decorating tube he uses for people’s cakes. Yes, if you ever got a cake, you have consumed his saliva. *The brownies are Godiva. Save yourself the money. *Chances are your cake was made 2 days before you picked it up. Nothing is fresh except the cookies(if that). From what I’m told, the guy has made several of his employees cry, written them up for being moments late, and overall treated them as less than people. He also doesn’t hire men… which is just weird. No one I know goes there and honestly you’d be better off doing the research for another option. Not to mention, the service is affected by his lack of respect and value for his employees.

A Manhattan Beach staple with simple baked goods. I don’t usually go to bakeries, but when I do, I go to Beckers. Beckers is a no-nonsense counter service Bakery in the swanky portion of downtown Manhattan Beach and a favorite of the locals. Luckily Beckers did not try to go all fancy like the Creamery down the street, what a shame. So I do not have a favorite thing but I try to sponge a free cupcake on my birthday, but when I have a sweet tooth before I play beach volleyball I get a croissant doughnut or muffin. Service is usually pretty good and I have never had a bad experience, so maybe they have better than pretty good if that was the case, like maybe great? Parking can be a pain sometimes, but weekday mornings and earlier on the weekends there are always spots, but just remember to put money in the meter.

Beckers Bakery is a gem! I emailed them with my order and they had me fill out a form with specifics(cake flavoring, icing flavoring, colors, etc). Lindsay assisted me and she made it all so easy. I walked into their establishment and everyone was smiling! I saw my cake in their refrigerator and it was so beautiful! My cake got so many compliments and it was oh so tasty! I’ve been getting my birthday cakes from Beckers since I was 4 years old and I will continue to do so. Thank you Beckers!

If you want to be a hit with the kids, then pick up the cookies w/frosting here and watch the joy on their faces! This is a staple in MB and ALL the kids love it(I mean its been around since 1942). I would even venture to say that my daughter was an addict(but I do have adult friends in town that have admitted their addiction, too ;) A block from the ocean, so there’s only metered street parking out front. I have ordered their frosted cookies & cakes for parties. A big hit was putting a picture on the frosting(I think it’s weird to have people bite into a picture of your face, but the kids like it). Their donuts are good, too and as I recall on Sunday after a certain time they drop the price WAY down. Seriously. I was thrilled when I stumbled onto that deal and bought everything they had(Nice find, when you have a house full of kids sleeping over. That’s right, sugar them up and send them back home. haha!) BUT, I also like their sandwiches! They are huge and the bread is fresh.

I used to love love love Beckers, 5 stars worthy. But this last time I came in they had gotten rid of their $ 10 lunch combo that was sooo amazing. Now for a sandwich, coffee ad cookie I paid $ 16! Wow. Their products, however, are great. Fresh ingredients, the cookies are so amazingly delicious and I love that they serve Stumptown coffee: hot and on tap. The service I received was rushed and the least bit friendly. Bring back the lunch combo Beckers!

Just picked up a dozen mini cupcakes from Becker’s and will definitely be returning to this little mom and pop gem in DTMB. Although I only ate two, I could have easily devoured all of them. The minis are a perfect bite sized snack to satisfy that afternoon sugar craving without making you feel guilty for eating a sweet treat. The cake was moist and the frosting was the perfect level of sweet. I like that it’s locally owned and has a beachy feel to it. I’ve also purchased their gingerbread house kits during the holidays too. It’s pricy but worth it if you have kids and makes for a great nighttime activity with little ones. Comes with everything premade and plenty of trimmings for a well-decorated gingerbread house.

I walked out of my bedroom and spotted a box from Becker’s — a birthday surprise from my roommate. Inside I found a chocolate covered donut and a maple glazed cronut. Even the packaging was professional and presentable! I was planning on stopping for coffee and donuts from my usual donut place on the way to work, but that won’t be happening anymore. Becker’s just raised the bar. I started off with the chocolate covered since it was so alluring. The dough was very fresh, not too chewy but a nice firm base. The chocolate was not overwhelming either, a proper ratio of frosting to dough. It was gone in seconds. I ate the cronut later as a snack. I’d never had a full cronut before. Surprising since I love both croissants and donuts so much. It was delectable. Once again, very fresh. It had a nice, flaky base while maintaining its firmness. I’m not a huge maple fan but it was a solid touch. Added a sweetness but once again, without overdoing it. I’ll definitely be back for more, even if it’s out of my way before work. Can’t wait to try more of their products.
