Yudai is the only guy I trust in town! I’ve been going to him for the past three years. He not only does great making your requests come true, but he also gives great suggestions you’d never thought would suit you. He takes pride in his craft, and that is every single customer that comes his way. In every way, he is how a hair stylist should be.

Yudai is great. He was available with very short notice, accommodating and took great care to give an excellent haircut. He did s great job! Highly recommended!

I purchased a Groupon for a mud facial and had a wonderful experience. The facial itself was relaxing and thorough, and my skin glowed afterwards. Unlike most facial experiences, there was no sales pitch to buy the products. Even without a Groupon the prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back – and this time I’ll ask about the products. They were awesome.

I got my hair permanently straightened at Coocan Hair & Spa a few months ago and I really loved their service. I am so happy that my hair looks perfectly straight and it saves my time a lot in the morning :) This time I took my 5yr old daughter here for a hair cut and we really loved her «Kawaii» hair style! Yudai is an experienced hair stylist who was working for a famous hair salon in Tokyo. If you are looking for a new hair salon or spa, check out this place and ask for a new customer promotion. I will try their facial next time!

Yudai is such an artist and his technique in color and cutting hair is masterful and very unique. He turned my brown dull hair into a very healthy glowing gold/​brown without using highlights. I gave him a picture of a textured long bob and it turned out so much better than what I showed him as an example. He is a gem in Manhattan beach and the owner is so friendly and respectful as well.

I’ve gone here twice now, initially for the convenience of finding a new hair stylist close to my home, and secondly because Yudai gave me a first haircut I really liked. I found that they are very accommodating when making an appointment and scheduled me in the same day when I first contacted the salon. Yudai cut my hair and he’s just a natural and very detail oriented; his style is to keep you in the process as he cuts your hair, asking questions that ensure he’s on spot. It made me feel confident that he was not only capable but also reassuring the cut and style was what I wanted. He’s also interesting to chat with and well traveled, which I think brings a lot of worldly experience to his work and keeps him on trend. Finally you can just tell that he is really into what he does and takes a lot of pride in it. I’m pretty much just a regular guy but I did get a few nice compliments after my haircuts. Anyway, if you’re looking for a new person or just want to make a change, it’s worth a try and it’s great to support a local business that does a great job at a very reasonable price. I also observed how well other customers were greeted and treated while I was getting my haircut, so the establishment is really professional and very comfortable.

Cute little salon in Manhattan Beach. I got my hair done by Yudai and I’m loving my new hair style. I rarely get a good experience at hair salons but this place did! I showed him a picture of how I want to get my hair done and his precise technique made me look EXACTLY how I wanted. Now I have perfect short bob blunt hair cut. :D Plus, 20% off for the first time customers! Also, easy parking at metered parking structure on Rosecrans Ave.

Lovely salon near the fantastic Manhattan beach! I visited there from DTLA to get a haircut from the best hair stylist, Yudai. I was his customer since he was working in LA downtown, and he always did best job. After he left to Tokyo (he is already popular there), I couldn’t find anyone else who does perfect job as he does. So I just let my hair grow grow grow like a hideous black seaweed. Then I heard this great news that he’s coming back to LA, to this lovely salon called «Coocan hair & spa». So I made a time to visit there, and as always he did a great job. He got rid of my hideous seaweed hair quickly with his magical hands and transformed me into a fresh cute trendy looking female! Tada! Thank you Yudai! Don’t go back to Japan ever again!

LADIES: Yudai is a freaking rock star! He left for Japan briefly but now he’s back and i can finally stop looking around for a great colorist and stylist.
PS– you should know that this guy just won an award for Best Colorist a couple of weeks ago… just saying.

When it comes to beauty services, trust really matters and it is the reason why I pick Coocan, and in particular, Yudai the hair stylist. I started having haircut with Yudai-​san at his previous salon, and decided to stick with him when he moved to Coocan. As I am a sucker for Japanese fashion, I’m really appreciate of his superb techniques and knowledge with Asian hair and the latest styles and years of training in Tokyo salons. And above all, he is super attentive and communicative, and when I am doing a poor job explaining what I want, would help me to frame my ideas and make great suggestions. Also, as I decided to get a perm on the spot, both Yudai-​san and the owner, Misuzu-​san, stayed past regular hours for me, which is very kind.
And I haven’t even mentioned the unbeatable ocean-​front view right outside the salon. Extra points!

The Japanese hairstylist Yudai is a very nice, friendly and with awesome technique of hair skills~ the best of him is he never stop learning the fashion and new ideas! He has been my hairstylist for alomost two years now~he never let my hair feel sad!! and I am so picky! If you are live in CA, you won’t want to miss this place!! even just once, you should come check it out! You won’t regret!

I had an absolutely wonderful experience here and would highly recommend it!
I got a groupon for a 60 minute mud facial. Since it’s just down the street from my office, I decided to call and see if they could accommodate an evening appointment. I called at 2pm on a Wednesday and was offered a 6pm appointment that same day.
The spa is located on the corner of Highland Ave and Rosecrans in Manhattan Beach. There is lots of street parking as well as a public parking lot just across the street, with meters that take coins and credit cards (yay!)
The spa itself is small, and functions as a hair salon and spa in one. I was welcomed so kindly by the owner, Misuzu, who took me into a small room just for facials. I was given a comfy, plush robe, lied down, and relaxed as she spent 60 minutes working away the impurities. What I really enjoyed was the products used — Misuzu told me they are from Japan, and all natural. I definitely did not feel anything harsh, itchy or burning, like I sometimes do with other facials. She was very gentle and I could feel like she really enjoyed what she does and wanted me to have a calm and relaxing experience.
Afterward, my skin is glowing and, unlike my prior facials, I don’t have any residual redness or irritation. I would definitely go back here!

I enjoy stopping by spa after long flights and go to spa almost every other week. That’s why I was relieved to find this salon in Manhattan Beach, only 15-​min driving distance from LAX.
Coocan Hair & Spa is a chic, cozy, relaxing spa owned by Ms. Misuzu Aisaka, a friendly Japanese cosmetologist. «Coocan» means space in Japanese, and the salon is literally very comfortable space with simple and chic décor.
I tried 60 min facial and 60 min body massage. For facial, Intensive age defying facial is a must for people looking for super quick result. Deep cleansing, peeling, and rich mask made my skin softer, poreless, and tone brighter. I even sensed my face became smaller — shaper lines from cheek to chin. I recommend an option of Green Tea mask — it’s very soothing as if I was sleeping in a tea garden.
For body, I tried Exfoliation treatment. Sea salt and the organic oils of macadamia and jojoba made my skin really soft. Misuzu’s smooth and soft massage is so relaxing and worthy of experience. Will definitely come back for my next visit to LA.

This is a cute little salon in Manhattan Beach with AMAZING view. It’s walking distance to the beach and to the pier. Misuzu the salon owner is an esthetician from Japan with amazing techniques. She uses products from japan as well as organic australian brand. I tried the Doronko facial which is a Japanese clay facial. When I think of clay, I think of oily skin since it removes oil but this special clay is magical and made my drink skin extra soft and plumpy while cleaning my pores. I loved it! Will return.
