My sister and I came to Southern California to celebrate my sisters birthday with her daughter. One of our adventures was to visit Manhattan Beach before our trip to Catalina Island.
While having lunch we decided it would be fun to have our hair colored before our trip to Catalina however it was already 3:00pm when started looking for a salon! We almost gave up hope before contacting Divat Salon.
Monica welcomed us to her shop knowing her day would have been ending within the hour. We arrived at 4:30 and finished up around 8:00pm
Our hair was given expert care in both the products used to the color chosen to complete our transformation.
I would recommend Monica and Edgar without hesitation. I wish I lived closer to Divat Salon so I could become a regular customer.
This is differently a 5 star rating for the service we received the products used Monica knowledge and her experience in matching your original hair color to any shade you desire.

First time at the salon was two days ago. Monika took care of me on her day off to accommodate *my* schedule… who does that??? She was knowledgable, efficient and expert in her approach (explaining every step she was taking). My hair looks and feels amazing! I have not stopped hearing compliments. I am thrilled with the color, cut and style.

I got a Brazilian blowout done by Edgar last week. He is very easy to talk to, which is good because they tend to take a little bit of time. I have been getting these done to my hair for years and this is one of the best I have ever had! Even after washing my hair and blow drying it (no round brush or anything) it dried almost completely straight with no frizz. I have naturally curly hair and it never dries anywhere close to that without being flat ironed after the blow dry. I am extremely happy with my hair and will definitely be going back to him!

Michelle Clagg works at Divat Salon and she has been my hair stylist for 6 years! She does amazing work! She can cut, style, and highlight like a pro. She first did my hair to replicate Jane from Mad Men and I had copper to red hair for 5 years. Recently she made me a blond again using the balayage technique. I always get so many compliments about my hair and I have Michelle Clagg to thank! She always does an exceptional job, making sure I am pleased with her work and I feel confident in my new look. Your hair is such an important expression of who you are, and making sure you have someone who can reflect the beauty that is within, is essential to having a healthy life. Monika is the best ever — great cut and genius at color and just a pleasure to be with. As a bonus, she and Edgar both do the BEST scalp massage shampoos ever. I love Divat.

Jerry Madrid is amazing. I just moved back to the South Bay and was looking for a new stylist. I was referred to Jerry by a South Bay local who’s been going to him for over a decade. Jerry listened to exactly what I wanted. I had shoulder length blonde hair and he gave me a professional modern bob with sexy layers and side bangs. I love my new sassy hair. i can’t wait to see him in 6 weeks for some blonde highlights.

Where do I start? Ok, for my actual haircut, it was pretty good, so I’d give that 4 stars. However, the stylist I had was so ignorant and unprofessional, it was sad. I don’t want to generalize because it could be just her and not the other stylists, but she was saying some of the most stereotypical things to me just to start a conversation. I kept my cool, but it really did bother me. The funny thing is, I didn’t even bring it up. It was her. Plus, she blatantly did not tell me first timers get a discount. She knew it was my first time there and I asked if I get a discount, but she said no. It’s sad because the haircut was good, but the service was pitiful.

Monika has been cutting my hair for years. She’s the best. If you want a great cut, go visit Monika, you won’t regret it. Best Haircut Ever!!!

I used to do my hair with Luisa back in San Francisco and I am so glad she moved in Manhattan Beach, CA! One of the things I like most about Luisa is that she is a great listener and understand exactly what I like to be done with my hair. If I bring her a picture of a style or color she will be able to match it. Also, she is very good in advising you on style and color and how to take care of your hair on a daily bases. Her words a wise and they come from a longtime experience in doing hair.
I only recommend someone if I am completely confident in their work and honesty and Luisa is someone I would recommend as she knows what she is doing with hair.

I absolutely love Luisa Zenni! She cut and color my hair and it was amazing. She used wonderful European hair products that were easy on my hair and left it shinny and soft. She is very professional, caring, she is very good with attention to details. The color on my hair was so good, I received many compliments from my friends. I never had my hair so shinny and soft, and the color lasted longer than any other products I’ve had.

If you are around the salon, please do yourself a favor and visit Luisa Zenni. I love Luisa! She has been my hairdresser for years now and I will not change that in spite of her moving from San Francisco where we met to LA. Any chance I get, I choose to visit her to do my hair, even if I have to wait much longer than I should to take care of my color and cut. The quality of her work is worth the wait. Not only is she talented and creative in her approach to style but also entertaining, welcoming, and attentive to the client’s needs. She follows the latest trends in style and color and does her very best to make a client feel like a true star! She is the best gift you can give yourself when it comes to hair style and great attitude.

Luisa is the best hair stylist I have ever had, I’ve tried so many hairstylists in my life and no one can be compared to the amazing luisa.
I had my hair in a very bad condition as a result of a bad job from previous hair stylist, my hair had a horrible colour, Luisa did a miracle after asking to 5 different places no one wanted to do my hair because it was really bad, she did an amazing colour job and a big transformation in my hair, my hair went from yellow to a beautiful hazelnut brown with some highlights, she didn’t touch my roots that were black to don’t damage my hair but I don’t know how she did it that I couldn’t notice the difference from the black to the brown. she has a great sense of humour and her conversations are very interesting, she was great in giving advise for make up, clothes, and even gourmet food! What a woman!

I have been to MONICA twice now. Once for a cut and then for a color. I have absolutely loved what she has done with my hair. I tried to write this review a few weeks ago but apparently it got blocked? So let’s try this again:
I came to Divat after having my hair butchered by a crappy «stylist» at some crappy salon. You get what you pay for, right? Needless to say, I was absolutely petrified to let someone touch my hair again, but it needed to be fixed! Jerry Madrid came highly recommended by a highly particular friend, and he met and exceeded expectations by leaps and bounds. He empathized with my problem, and really took the time, despite his busy schedule, to make me feel comfortable and actually TALK to me about what I wanted with the long-​term plan for my hair. He spoke with me extensively over the phone, invited me in for a consultation, and even worked late at night to be able to fit me in before the holidays. I have never sat before a stylist with so much empathy and consideration for what the client wants, rather than the stylist’s ego. Oh and he’s totally charming, so hell yeah.

Was recommended to Jerry Madrid by my sister. As a guy, I’m so used to getting cheap $ 10 hair cuts but now I see the level of service you get when you go to a true stylist. Jerry IS a true stylist. As a client, you use his expertise to help find a look that works for you, your image, the shape of your head/​face, etc. He knows which hair products will be useful to you, but he doesn’t emphasize brands as if he’s trying to sell you his salon’s product of something.
Like anyone who has passion about what they do, Jerry is always learning, being creative, staying up-​to-​date with his craft. However, the bottom line is that I left with an amazing looking cut that I couldn’t be happier with. Highly recommended.
