Love love LOVE Marlena. She is incredible. By far the best tailor I have ever had, as well as one of the most fairly priced.
I’ve had patchwork done (it always turns out seamless) and have had several pairs of pants/​jeans/​shorts altered in all sorts of ways– hemmed, tapered, taken in, lowering the ‘rise’, etc. Throughout all of my specifications she has been kind and patient, and there is nothing else you could ask for.
She is kind, sensible, and (I can guarantee) understands what you want at least 99% of the time. This is the first Unilocal review I have written, and am doing so only because I am so truly grateful. Thank you Marlena!

Marlena was excellent – professional, courteous, fair and skilled (!!!). First, I needed a formal, sleeveless bridesmaid’s dress hemmed, and a piece needed to be added to hide my cleavage (very conservative wedding). The alterations were perfect. Second, I needed a jacket to be made from scratch to wear over the sleeveless dress I purchased. To have a perfect color match, I purchased a second dress at the same store which was from the same dye (different style than the one I will wear; much larger size to get more fabric). Marlena took it apart, created a pattern and built a fully-​lined, perfectly fitting jacket for me with numerous details. Less than 3 weeks later, the jacket was completed and I was thrilled and impressed with the results. Overall, I would highly recommend her; her years of experience and expertise are evident in the work.

I brought in a nice wool jacket to be taken in since I’ve recently lost a decent amount of weight and it was looking very baggy on me. Marlena quoted me $ 50 and told me it would be ready in a week. Not only does the jacket look great but she charged me only $ 45 since I paid in cash! I will definitely be using her services for any of my alteration needs.

I needed some pants to be hemmed for a new suit I bought for a company event. They are half a mile away from work so it was very convenient to drop off and pick up before work or during my lunch. The place look nice and clean with a couple of changing room. I called before hand and asked the cost and if they do same or next day. She said yes and would be $ 10. Perfect. I drop the pants off in and out very quick and pick up the next morning. I look at the sticking and looks a little sloppy but need that pants for today. I go to pay and the price is now $ 12. I told here what I was told and she just says «no it’s $ 12, must have been someplace else». I only came here because of convenience. I wouldn’t come back here again unless I need something done fast. If you live or work in the area she’s good enough to get the job done, but don’t know about the pricing or how long her work will last.

I have had such a good experience here! I recently brought in a bridesmaid dress on Saturday that needed to be altered for a wedding the following Friday. Although, I was a little bit frantic about having it finished in time, Marlena promised it would be, without any hesitation. It was actually finished on Thursday afternoon! In addition, she had additionally finished hemming some other items I had dropped off for completion later in the week.
MB Tailors is the only place I’ve been going to, and will continue to be the only place, due to the responsiveness and great work. Thank you! :)

A great tailor in the south Bay. They have a fair turnaround time for their services. While other tailors tell you to come back in a couple weeks they usually have my suits ready in a few days. I usually bring a couple suits at a time to have jackets made more form fitting and they do a great job. The hem on pants will last you a while which is a good indicator of a reliable tailor for me. I found this place on Unilocal and read lots of helpful reviews. These guys are friendly and professional, and my garments were ready as promised. It’s clean and organized with accommodating hours. I would totally recommend Manhattan Beach Tailors for men’s and women’s alterations.

I was going to Marlena for awhile but 75% of the time she got the alteration length wrong but was nice and always fixed it. However the last straw came when I had pillows made. She not only took 4 weeks to make them and never having it done when she promised, but she used the wrong side of the fabric which clearly was the raw side. Instead of apologizing and correcting this error quickly, she blamed me for the mistake and took another 3 weeks to fix. Ugh! When it was finally done, there was thread everywhere. It’s such a small community she really should be better about customer service.

I had two dresses altered here, a bridesmaid dress and another silk dress, and they did a fantastic job. She made the dresses fit perfectly to my body and you can’t tell any work was done. Timing and service was also great. Would definitely come back!

How have I not reviewed this place yet?! I’ve been coming here for a while with some pretty complicated alterations. I’m a petite and they alter everything perfectly. Bathing suits, work pants, jackets, dresses — everything. Love. Don’t even think twice. Just do it. :)

I brought in five pairs of jeans to hem as on the original (i.e., with the hemmed bottoms sewed back on once the jeans were shortened to retain the original look). I was happy with the outcome; they all came out neat. It cost $ 18 per pair and took about one week. I’ll definitely keep MB Tailors in mind in the future.

Marlene is the best tailor in the South Bay! Everytime I go to Manhattan beach tailors I get my clothing back fast and perfect! She works miracles. She is very professional and friendly. I have never seen such a perfectly hemmed pair of pants. I highly recommend visiting Manhattan beach tailors the next time you need any alterations!

I purchased a dress at Blvd. boutique in Manhattan Beach that I was wearing to a wedding and they recommended I take it to Manhattan Beach Tailors. The dress just needed a few tweaks to make it fit my body just perfectly and she did an amazing job. Picked up the dress and it fits like a glove. Also, I was only charged $ 25 for the alterations which was way less than I anticipated. I plan to take all my items needing alterations to Martha from here on out!

I brought my daughter’s prom dress to have it altered. The dress was completed as promised and looked fabulous! Very reasonably priced, too! I will definitely return to this tailor for all of my future alternations needs :-)

Good enough neighborhood service, but…
I had a bridesmaid dress altered cost = $ 62
Not really sure why the cost was so high, all they did was cut a few inches from the bottom and clean the edge, and then sew two little straps to the shoulders with literally two stitches.

Another girl dropped off a bridesmaid dress that was similar in color to mine. When my husband went to pick my dress, despite having the tag with the corresponding number on it that matched my dress, MB Tailors attempted to send him home with SOMEONE ELSE’S DRESS.
Thank goodness my husband was savvy enough to snap a photo and check with me to make sure it was mine.
It would have been horrible to have taken another’s dress, or even worse, have someone take mine.
Guess this is a good enough reason to buy a sewing machine and brush up on my tailoring skills.

She does an amazing job. It is quick and easy. The only complaint I have is that some of the sticking on the bottoms of pants will be a little iffy and my toes will get caught in them when I am putting my foot in… Overall she does solid work though.

My family and I have been coming here for ten years. Very professional and does great work. I came in recently to get my wedding dress tailored and they did a wonderful job!

I’ve been coming to Manhattan Beach Tailors for years. Marian and her team do beautiful work, and are super friendly and professional. I recently brought in 10 dresses to have them taken in (after dropping a few sizes – yay!). She was able to have them all done within a week. And when two still fit a little large, she took them in further at no additional charge. They always want to make sure you are satisfied with your alterations.
Regarding payment, she does accept cards for $ 30 or more, and a sign clearly states cash or check for amounts less than that. She also reminded me of this when I recently dropped off two items that will come in under that amount so I could be prepared when I came in to pick them up.
Friendly, professional, and high quality work. I hope to use them for many more years to come.

I have had hundreds of pieces of clothing and suits altered here. She is always on time and very responsibly priced. The work they do is first class.

My wedding dress looked amazing! And, with suiting lines, it was easy for her to do, so it only cost me $ 80. It would have cost hundreds if I had Jenny Yoo Collections do it!
(She also did my husband’s suit!)
