They have same day dry cleaning which is very convenient.

I’m so disappointed. I’m glad I got fold and fluff service, because it was so hot and I had so much to do I did not want the dryer running inside my townhouse this weekend when we were having triple digit heat.
I called the day before 3 times, left one message, and got no call back. It was a Sunday, that’s fine. Monday I call for pricing, and explained what I was bringing bedding mostly. Was quoted $ 2.25 a pound, and stated there was a minimum. (10 pounds) I had multiple kitchen trash bags full. We were clear.
I came in the evening and confirmed the price, $ 2.25/lb nothing more. Asked about the detergent (my skin can’t handle Tide and I have a little one) the woman said she would use tide clear, (I usually use Wisk, and mentioned I could bring it), no problem, and that they use dryer sheets to make everything smell nice. Happy camper! The woman made a ballpark of $ 100, but did not give an estimate or price. My trunk was full, so I brought most of it in. I left 3 bags in the car. She told me where to leave it, I mentioned again that I had small (twin) comforters (they are 20+years old, very thin) and number of pillows, so I’m sure they will be light. «We weigh everything after its washed» is what she said.
She called the next day with my total of $ 179.91! Eek! I must have had 80 pounds or something!
I delayed a day picking up trying to figure out the extra $ 40+ But when I picked up I asked, «so how much did all of it weigh?» And was told by a different person than the one that I dropped off with that not everything is weighed.
I wasn’t told that, she shrugged. She offered to weigh the comforter «but it will cost you more» I should have taken her up on that.
What else was charged differently? The pillows were $ 5 each (I had 7– only 2 were new and were purchased at IKEA for $ 10 each) though there were 3 small decorative pillows and a «Frozen» pillow and they charged $ 5 for the 4 instead of $ 5 ea.
Opening the bags, some bags smell wonderful! Those bags were sealed. The ones that were not sealed, even burying my face in the items that were in the bag, there is no smell. Odd.
Weighed everything at home, 60#. That’s $ 135, which is kind of what I was expecting with her $ 100 guess. We were on the scale 4x, so let’s call it 65 pounds for error (1pound per weigh-​in) $ 146.25. Still less than $ 179.90
But wait there is more! Remember the Tide discussion? Yea, they added $ 9. For that. Not mentioned until I picked up.

I would not have been so bothered if when I got home the weight was actually more than their pricing. Really, it makes it look like I was worked.
HAD I BEEN TOLD IN ADVANCE THEIR ½ fluff and Fold pricing and then ½ if it was dry cleaning prices… 1. I would have used my regular dry cleaner, 2. I would have tossed our junk pillows and purchased new ones, and 3. I would have come back the next morning and washed some of it myself.
I did ask if there were any discounts or any consideration … Ah, no.
I may go back for their machines, but after posting this, I’m sure my name is mud.

It was my first time ever using a fluff and fold service and they helped me through the entire process. Their team members were friendly and professional and my laundry was ready to pick up on time. The parking situation is a bit tricky but other than that amazing job! I will definitely be coming back here to do my business!

This facility is very clean and it’s a one-​stop shop for mail notary faxing copies washing everything! located in the heart of Manhattan Beach this place is by far the best coin laundry in the Southbay. Management is like no other! on top of every need you have and willing to help you out whenever you need it!

Our mail is always sorted on time and we look forward to our daily pickup. The atmosphere in the building and the smiles on the staff faces make it easy to choose their service again and again!

I always get my fluff and fold done here with Ashley. My apartment is old and outdated, so I don’t have the luxury of a washer and dryer on site. Thankfully, Whale of a Wash is located down the street, with great service and great pricing. Parking is always pretty readily available too. Ashley seems to always be working when I go in after work, and she is always super friendly, and great to work with. Everytime I bring my laundry in, I have it back within a day, even if I bring in comforters and tons and tons of laundry. They always get it done in time. It’s pretty impressive. Most importantly, they always know what to do with my laundry. The whites are always done right, and they manage to never fade the colors. It has gotten to the point where even if I were to get a washer and dryer in my building, I trust Ashley and the Whale of a Wash team more than I trust myself to keep my clothes looking good.

Great place to get your laundry done! I’ve been going here over 8 years and couldn’t be happier. The fluff and fold service is always rock solid and the staff is awesome. A big thanks to Nadia, who always takes great care of me. :)

Extremely helpful staff, clean facility and good equipment. The triple load washers are the way to go, only 25 min until you’re done. It’s not cheap (welcome to manhattan beach), but it’s good! Open till 10 pm! Their evening worker Ashley is super helpful!

I was in Manhattan Beach on business and needed dry cleaning and laundry done. This establishment made me feel secure and comfortable… Well, it was Ashley and her excellent Customer Service that made me feel warm and fuzzy… I found it to be clean and a great location while staying in Manhattan Beach.

I usually get both my dry cleaning and fluff and fold done here and it’s great. Clean, folded perfectly, done very quickly, and they’ve never shrunk, ruined, or lost any article of clothing.
Yes, it’s much more expensive than any other laundromat… but I will always pay for cleanliness and good service, and this place hits both marks.

New in town and neighbor recommended me this place. Extremely clean. You get the whole California experience sun, beach and friendly professional staff. LOVE IT!!!

This place is super convenient if you live in one of the apartments by the beach. Plus it’s a short walk to the pier to grab a bite to eat or drink or a cup of coffee while you wait on your clothes so that’s good.
The machines are always clean and it’s never too busy. There’s also free wifi so you can work so those are all pluses.
The negatives are the super inflated prices. Twice as much as other laundry placed in the area. A few loads cost me $ 20 here, which I can do a months worth of laundry for at other places. Guess you gotta pay for the convenience of being that close to the beach.

Its too bad this happened… Whale of a wash is a decent laundry spot and the workers that I had come across were more than friendly. I became a bit of a regular until…
I was in there one day exchanging some bills for quarters when a crazy man started screaming at my friend and I. At first I was blown away and thought maybe this is a homeless person just yelling at me about quarters… He then revealed in his yelling that he was THE OWNER of the store and I was apparently destroying his life by exchanging quarters (which is what his machines run on by the way). He kept berating and yelling at me for about 10 minutes while I said almost nothing, was just in shock and trying to not to start laughing. I wish I had pulled out a camera phone because the RANTING and CURSING was really impressive, and out of nowhere! He continued yelling and cursing even as my friend and I were out the door and walking down the sidewalk…
What a horrible business owner.
Anyway Manhattan Beachers, if you have a choice in your laundry, go to somebody else around town who deserves our business a little more.

7 loads of laundry over Labor Day weekend isn’t my idea of fun (eeek! I know, I was so behind!), but Whale of a Wash was so friendly, clean and quick that I actually had a good time!

Very friendly staff super clean i live in los angeles and was around the area dropped in owner happen to be here and was very friendly he even gave us water.

Great spot to do your laundry at. The machines are clean and the staff is very friendly. They have quarter machine access and if you forget detergent they have some for sale!

We love the wash and dry cleaning especially! Great place!!!

Love this place! Great music is always playing, it’s cheap, clean, they have high efficiency washers and dryers, they have a fluff n fold service where you can drop off your dirty laundry and come back to pick it up clean and nicely folded, and they also do dry cleaning!
I heard they’re getting some new machines really soon too! Can’t wait =) there’s even a few different coffee shops near by to grab a coffee or little snack.
Non need to worry about bringing enough quarters because they have a change machine!

With no time to do laundry, and running short on clothes, I swung by Whale of a Wash to give their fluff ‘n’ fold a try. You can either let them wash, dry and fold OR you start the wash and they dry & fold (the latter costing less per pound). Considering I was in such a rush that I didn’t bring soap, I opted to drop off my clothes and go about my day.
I’m super picky with how I dry my items and asked if they could leave my delicate panties out of the dryer and dry everything else on Low, so that the colors don’t fade. She jotted the notes down and I crossed my fingers.
The next day, I picked up my bag and when I got home to unpack was just beside myself. My delicates were in one piece (they listened and didn’t put them in the dryer) and were folded and wrapped in saran-​wrap to keep them safe. Not only was everything perfectly clean & folded — the clothes were organized by type and stacked together! I think they are almost as OCD as I am, and this made it so easy for me to put my things away quickly!
Not only did this service save me a tremendous amount of time by not having to sit in the laundry mat and hang underwear all around my house waiting for it to dry, but they listened, cleaned my clothes and folded them better than I do! Definitely going back.

I came here for fluff and fold service a couple of times because the Unilocal reviews were so positive. I didn’t mind that they charge about double what most places do because I was expecting this outstanding service.
What I got was mostly decent laundry, with weird bluish spots on some of my clothes. I thought hmm, maybe that was already there and it just didn’t wash out. So I came back maybe a month later for another fluff and fold, and when I got my clothes there were more strange blue stains! The guy also removed all my underwear from the lingerie bag it was in – I put in there for a reason, namely so I wouldn’t have strangers handling my underwear — and folded each piece! Thongs and all!
A couple months later I was digging through all of my drawers in search for what was probably my third blouse that had mysteriously gone missing and it dawned on me: a bunch of my clothes never came back from Whale.
