Food was decent but a bit on the cool side. Took us 2 hours from when we arrived to when we got back to the car. About an hour + wait for the entrees. I fail to see how the restaurant chefs are that slow. It wasn’t crowded.

Pretty solid meal, but I think it was a bit overpriced. Maybe about 10 percent. I had a classic old fashioned to start that was pretty solid. My wife had a Cosmo that was above average. I got the fixed price menu meal with a ribeye, potato and corn chowder appetizer. Appetizer was great, but the steak was overcooked. I intentionally ordered it rare in hopes that it would come out no worse than medium rare. I was right, and the steak was overcooked. Dessert was a really good chocolate mousse tart. Wine pairings were good, but I felt for 18 bucks, they didn’t pour enough — I wound up with less than a full glass of wine. My wife had a lobster ravioli she said was good, but not nearly as good as others of the same.

My wife and I have frequented 4 Olives numerous times. Each time we’ve had an increasingly better experience than the last. The only thing I would knock them on is either being under-staffed or not equipping the waitstaff well enough in training. But they’re still extremely polite and our orders are times very well. While 4 Olives is a wine bar, it shines brightest in its cocktails. The precision and congruency from drink to drink is amazing; arguably the best in town. The serving sizes are not large, but that’s ok when you’re paying for flavor, quality, and creativity in the dishes. Give it a shot. Go on a non-peak night to avoid the service pitfalls mentioned in other reviews. You’ll leave happy.

This was absolutely the worst service I have ever had. It took us 2.5 hrs to get our food. And the manager was a complete jerk about it. Blamed it on us ordering more appetizers, and I told him the only reason we did was because we were starving waiting for our food. Wish I had better things to say. I can’t comment on the food because we left before the entrees came out after 2.5 hrs.

I have been coming to 4 Olives for years, and should have done a review sooner! Never have I experienced anything less than superb service and high quality cuisine. I love the new location, it really makes you feel like you are in a much bigger city. It is a wonderful place to go if you really want to relax and completely enjoy your dining experience. The servers are always attentive, but they allow you to take your time and truly enjoy your meal. It is pricey, but worth every penny! I do miss the seared ahi tuna with Wasabi mash, and I wish they would bring it back. That is my only complaint! The lobster ravioli, halibut with risotto and beef tips are excellent. Drinks are out of this world and don’t miss out on their desserts!

Terrible service. Tenderloin was overcooked. Twice. Kitchen has no clue. Only reason I give them any stars at all is they comped the steak.

I went here with a work associate this summer. The food was AMAZING! We had the pork belly starter and both got the steak tips entrée. They also have a fantastic assortment of cocktails that you won’t find any where else. My friend ordered a Manhattan and it came with a giant cube of ice. Pretty cool!

No complains on the service side but my halibut was cooked to oblivion, which is pretty sad. I could have eaten a cheap piece of tilapia and had the same result. The restaurant was slow that night too, so to serve fish that overlooked is just carelessness. The ambiance is nice, service is fine, but my recommendation is to stay away from expensive proteins that actually take experience to execute properly.

A bit pricey but a wonderful place to go. Drinks are great and nice that they always have different specials for their entrée. I have to say the lobster ravioli is my favorite. Very rich but wonderful! Tip go early at 4 when they open so u can go to their little dessert shop next door!

This place is the best. Food is cooked to order and comes out hot and delicious. Great wine selection and some of the best service you will ever get in a restaurant. I just got back from there and wish I could go back the next day to try another wonderful item on their menu. You will think you are in Manhatten New York instead of Manhatten Kansas.

I wasn’t sure reading the reviews but I was pleased with my experience. We had the fresh Oysters, K-Strip, Lobster Ravioli and Crème Brulé. All was delicious, service and ambiance was nice. Extensive wine list but the staff was wonderful about recommendations and knowledge. The portions were quite large, surprising for a place like this. I would recommend a reservation to be sure they can accommodate you as people tend to come here to enjoy the food and company. We stayed for 3.5 hours as did many others, it’s just that kind of place.

Stopped in at 6pm on a Tuesday night; sat at the bar because I was traveling alone on business. Ordered and was delivered a glass of Malbec and looked at the menu and waited… and waited… and waited for bartender to come back and ask me if I wanted to order something to eat. I was totally excited about all the specialty cheeses and charcuterie. I decided on the $ 16 small plate called«Cheesemonger’s Selection» because it boasted a «special customized pairing… that highlights a cheese and or charcuterie offering with handmade accompaniments.» It was delivered with no explanation so I had no idea what I was eating. I waited… and waited… and waited to get the bartender’s eye so I could ask about the selection. Finally was told it was the Valencay cheese(3 small slices) and some special strawberry Ketchup served with 6 «crackers.» I PAID $ 16 for that? There is a selection on the menu for Valencay cheese that was $ 12, so what’s up with that? So I waited… and waited… and waited and finally asked and was told that difference was the strawberry ketchup and crackers? Really? WOW! ALL delivered with a generous portion of condescension. I travel A LOT for work and I have eaten at some of the best(and worst) restaurants. This one just misses the mark. And so pretentious. All in all, i find this place overpriced, snooty, and not a good value. I don’t mind shelling out some $$$ for high-end F&B and service, and I often do as I used to work in a high-end restaurant myself, but this was just a bad experience, from start to finish. If you are in Manhattan, your money is better spent at Harry’s.

4 Olives can’t, and therefore shouldn’t’, do Sunday Brunch. My wife and I went there for Easter Brunch. I order the Crab cake and eggs Benedict, she ordered the scallop crapes in Bearnaise sauce. The crab cakes were burnt, the crapes came to the table stone cold. On the second try at the crapes they came warm but with sauce at one end and dry at the other. No kidding I-Hop would have done a better job with brunch. If this is the best 4 Olives can do at brunch they should simply do their patrons a favor and stop. I would give this meal a 1 star out of 10.

For the price nothing special. Small portions. Bland tasting food. Small portions. Will I be back? Probably not. Server was nice and helpful.

So maybe valentines night wasn’t the best night to come and try this place. Reservation was 20 minutes past our reservation time. No napkins given with out meal. Table is sticky. Waiting about an hour and fourth five minutes for our food… Still haven’t received our food.(This is a set menu mind you) they ran out of the complementary appetizer… 10 minutes later… Oh look our food… Meat was over cooked for all of us(filet mignon) potatoes cold… Over all food was only okay. Dessert was yummy.

BLUF: The food is okay. They have raw oysters. Good location. Large drink selection. Bartenders are consistent. Worth a try. We came out to 4 Olives for oysters and drinks after we had dinner somewhere else. I’ve also been here before for dinner with a friend. My rating for this place is based on both visits. 4 Olives has a simple, modern design with see through dividers and mirrors throughout the restaurant. Good place to go for a date IMO. There are a few other bars/restaurants in the area which is good for a bit of bar hopping if you want to stay more low key, away from Moro St. The first time — I got the lobster ravioli; it was very rich and tasted great… for the first couple of bites. It was on the salty side, and a bit too cheesy. Had the Pimm’s Cup as my drink and it was alright. They do have a large selection of cocktails which is a plus. Took me awhile to make a decision. Overall, my dinner experience was A-OK. The second time — came back here with my fiancé the night before I went overseas. We had dinner somewhere else and felt like having a drink and some raw oysters. The drinks were once again, alright. no complaints. The oysters were much better than I expected considering we are in the middle of nowhere Kansas. Prices are normal compared to any other«fancy» restuarant when it comes shellfish. I will continue to go to 4 Olives to try other drinks they have on the menu and of course the oysters if I can’t wait until I go to Kansas City to get them.

Ever since 4 Olives moved downtown, it’s been on our weekly list of places to hit. Although one of the most, if not THE most, expensive restaurants in town, you’re always guaranteed an excellent meal. You are guaranteed an amuse bouche from the chef to try with the most extensive wine, beer and cocktail lists in all of KS/MO. The charcuterie and cheese offerings are varied and solid. Salads are fresh and interesting. Seared scallops in shiitake broth-outstanding. Beef tips equally delicious. Once the weather turns warmer and the days get longer, dinner and a walk down Poyntz makes this downtown spot a place to visit.

4 Olives is one of the nicest restaurants in town. I tried to eat here a few weekends ago and without reservations, the wait was around 2 hours! I decided to come back tonight because my friend was back in MHK for work, and we both had not been here yet. Our server Ashley was outstanding. She was very kind and attentive, and patient when explaining such a complicated menu. There were several menus on the table when we were seated. The main menu has a lot of words on it, broken up by small plates, salads, entrees, cheese courses, and charcuterie. The back of the menu had an extensive wine list. There was also another wine list in a giant book-style menu, a small cocktail menu book, and then the nightly special menu. There was a prix fixe with specials that could each be ordered separately: a caesar salad with beef kebab, seared maple glazed scallops with red pepper risotto, and a duo of mini crème brûlée(vanilla bean and salted caramel). The amuse bouche was listed as avocado buttermilk gazpacho. I ordered a bellini and my friend a «Bourbon and Brash» which included some liquor-soaked cherries for garnish. I was surprised that since we did not order the special, we were still greeted with the amuse bouche, served on happy spoons. It was really delicious! I started with a small size roasted beet salad. The beets were in strips rather than chunks which was a nice change. It was a spinach salad with goat cheese, warm walnuts, and the beets. My friend started with a cheese course with cheese made from buffalo, accompanied with bread. For his entrée, he got the lamb shank with Israeli couscous and Moroccan spices. I decided to go a little out there for Kansas and get the oysters on the half shell. The mignonette was very delicious. I enjoyed these oysters from British Columbia. We opted out of dessert but were treated to a sample of the chocolate covered toffee with roasted almonds — what a treat! With a meal full of surprises and great service, I was pleasantly surprised. Obviously I ate light, but there are many options for all types of diners here. I would come back for a special occasion.

The short ribs with carrot risotto were really good except for the fact that it was super expensive and mostly blubber. My brother had the lobster ravioli and it was extremely disgusting. Step-mom had the scallops. She never commented on them but she ate everything. This place was a miss.

World class venue. Great employee engagement, outstanding food, mixed drinks, and wine. There are a number of reasons this business easily earns five stars. Here are some of them: Décor: This restaurant has a nuanced décor that is truly superb. An extensive, climate-controlled wine cellar behind glass is featured as décor. Management-Employee engagement: clearly evidenced by my server Brittany, who seems to have really strong training, representing a «best-in-show» serving experience. Drinks: An extensive wine list, plus skilled bartenders, and a full repertoire of alcohol complement the great food. Food: World-class, highest quality, attention– to-detail, foodie kind of menu. Locally-sourced menu items where possible. The menu is substantial: whole sections on small plates(tapas), cheese, charcuterie, and gourmet entrees. Probably should be on the top of the list for«Best Datenight Restaurant-Midwest». An oasis of culture and class worthy of recognition and patronage. Watching any reality show on the cooking channels on cable television it becomes clear this restaurant is above and beyond what is glorified by celebrity chefs on the East and West Coast of America.
