My boyfriend and I came here last night based on the Unilocal ratings. We did not make reservations. The food was terrible, boxed spaghetti and tasteless red sauce. They had seated us in the basement with the tv blaring attached to the wall. The server took forever to get us menus and never refilled our drinks. Apart from being the youngest customers in the place and one of two tables downstairs in my grandmas basement, the food and level of attention did not impress me. The bread we got at the beginning was warm and delicious(1 star worthy), but the sad little plate of two carrot sticks and 4 canned unpitted green and red olives did not give off that quality feeling. The veal parm was fair. The only thing I did enjoy was a first date sitting near us, and listening to those awkward first date conversations. I hope they had a better time. Good luck!

Absolutely delish with an attentive staff that wasn’t too pushy or intrusive when I had it for my birthday(though I didn’t tell them it was my birthday). I even got a suggestion on what to eat that wouldn’t mess up my mouth(the lasagna is awesome) and the tiramisu is yummy as well. Definitely the kind of Italian place I like & it was affordable with some class to it. I’d come back & maybe have some company.

My husband and I were in town Saturday visiting his Brother who lives up the street from this place. Being pregnant I was craving Italian badly and we decided to find something close. The review for this place said intimate Italian restraunt that has been around since the 80’s, we were sold. Once inside this cute eatery I felt like one of the family. The owner a woman, was really welcoming and chatted with my husband and I for a bit. I had the pasta puttanesca which was divine and my husband had a minestrone and salad which he enjoyed with a glass of chianti. Someone was celebrating their birthday that night and everyone in the place sang happy birthday with a music accompaniment. If your on the upper east side and looking for a warm family style Italian place to dine this is a great option. :)

We enjoyed our first visit to Arturo’s which is presumably is one of the few remaining authentic old-fashioned Italian Restaurants on the Upper East Side. My wife’s cousin, Joseph Drago, recommended this restaurant and noted that he was friends with the Chef and owner Joseph Napolitano, who took over the business started by and named after his father. The dish selection that we chose, which we enjoyed very much, had the feel of that Old Italian neighborhood restaurants which I experienced as a young lad in NYC. We look forward to our next many visits to this UES Italian Restaurant.

I love this place. It’s exactly what it’s supposed to be: homey, basic neighborhood Italian with a casual vibe and a large pour with your glass of wine. Sit at the bar, watch the US Open(or the football), have some baked ziti(I mean, WHERE can you get baked ziti anymore? no place!), and stay as long as you like. The staff never makes you feel uncomfortable about lingering, even after everyone else has left. Old school hospitality & classic Italian menu. There’s a reason it’s been open more than 30 years. They’re great.

This place doesn’t deserve one star. My friend and I went in and the service was horrible. We had to ask the waiters for everything three times and eventually my friend had to get her own oil and vinegar and pepper. Finally we realized they were treating us differently than the other customers. Why did everyone else get impeccable service? Why were we treated differently? Why were we being ignored? Makes me wonder about this place. Never going back. We complained about our treatment and the staff just shrugged their shoulders. Eventually we asked for our check. Ten minutes later I had to get up and retrieve it. This staff needs some sensitivity training !!!

I love this place! Arturo’s has great service and food. We recently got veal piccata and saltimbocca and both were to die for. The portions are big and the food came out quickly. Perfect comfort food for a rainy night in the city. We’ll definitely be back!

Ok tasting slices. The Sicilian slices were just huge lumps of dough. Not much of choice when grabbing some ready made slices to go.

charming spot. attentive wait staff. crowd was older. old school vibe. food was very good. I shared the three course meal, which was $ 35 or so, and well worth it. Had the veal paperdelle. The sauce was delicious — kind of an ala vodka sauce, and the veal came in large pieces, rather than a typical bolognese sauce. Also had the red snapper, which was good; and the mouse for dessert which was very good. I’d come back, but wouldn’t run back.

We had a table of 5. Five different meals and everyone said their choice was delicious. The room was crowded, but the noise level was moderate. Service was very good. Prices were very reasonable. It was worth traveling from the West side. I wish we had a restaurant like this is our neighborhood.

Last Saturday Me and my wife met a friend who lives near 86 st. We were driving around and saw this place a corner place that looks real fancy and classy from the out side so we went in. It was a real bar and had about 10 to 15 tables we were sited right away and noticed only two tables only had customers. I noticed all were cold and doubtful about there plates. I went right to the menu and my wife prefer the rigatoni and I ordered the Penni olive and pepper marinara plate. The other friend preferred the egg plant. It took 15 minutes and are order arrived When the Penni marinara olives was put in front it had a smell of the barrel of olives we’re pulled out and put on my plate. The ell was kaka. My wife’s plater was to salty. How does a cook or a chef put together a smelly plate ?? My wife gave her plate back and bill was 53 dollars with tip.

This place is a 3 — really. Read on. When I lived in the nabe more then 15 years ago I used to eat at the pizza place of the same name(and owners) across the street — which I loved — then swore off. I always thought I’d go to the restaurant one day, y’know, when I had a little more folding cash. Well, tonight I did. First it’s listed as «American(new)» in Unilocal — C’mon Unilocal, get you shit together! This is an Italian restaurant. Like they-only-have-Italian-food Italian restaurant. Second, I’ll never eat here again. W-w-wait…not because it’s bad, but rather because life is short, and I live in New York City — where you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting an Italian restaurant. And also I now live nowhere NEAR this place. I live in Brooklyn, so a bunch of you can probably just stop reading this now and go to the DAMNRESTAURANT! Third, this place is kind of a NY stereotype. Which can be great, I mean I love a red-sauce joint, but if I’m going to consume this many carbs, and that much oil and what not, it’s got to be pretty darn good.(That said, red-sauce restaurants are like Chinese take-out places… you tend to get accustomed to the flavors of the restaurant that’s closest to your house.) Fourth, it was a little pricey. One entrée, one pasta, a salad, and four glasses of wine was well over a bill. For what it was, it was a little much for a Monday night. Fifth, the food you ask? OK, this is peak local tomato time. Like they’re-giving-them-away-because-in-two-weeks-they’ll-be-gone time. But the tomatoes we were served were hard and tasteless. So to you that’s either an abomination or no biggie. Like I said: 3 stars.

Arturo’s restaurant in UES is a wonderful little pocket of pleasure in our upper East side location. While having ordered many take-outs, this is the first time I had ever been to the physical locale, with a guest. Upon first impression, it was a shock to see smartly clothed wait staff in gorgeous maroon jackets, standing at attention, and so professional. Service was impeccable. I had the veal Marsala, my guest had linguine Vongole, which she said was terrific. Of course their salad Caeser was perfect. I had the veal marsala, perfect as usual, with silky sauce enveloping the veal. Dessert+ tiramisou: perfect, of course. I shall be back ! Even with the uphill climb.

Really great food. Stoppes by NYCEWheels across the street and wanted to have a nice mealnwith my wife. They participate in restaurant week, 3 course meal for only $ 35. They have a full bar. Saturday evening was a nice and quiet setting. I recommend this place for people seeking a comfortable, low key, and good quality food.

The East End of the Upper East End is a total mystery to me, so when I left a book party with the SO and her group of friends, I whipped out the trusty Unilocal app for a local suggestion. There popped Arturo’s a block away, so off we went. Arturo’s is a white-sauce, Northern-leaning Italian in the tradition of other«New York City Italian» eaters(in some cases, dinosaurs). The service was old-school but not fancy, and the food was about the same. I had the meat tortellini served in a cream sauce, a starchy dish I rarely get. This time, it soaked up a previous gin martini(laced with absinthe) nicely. The prices are steep given the good but not great quality of the food, but if you live in the neighborhood, this could be a place glad to have you as a regular. And the stuffed veal dishes did look appetizing.

I have lived around the corner for years and have gone by this place hundreds of times, and somehow never went in. We decided to try it at the last minute and were very pleasantly surprised. Its a good old fashioned Italian restaurant with all of the old world charm that that implies. The wine list is fine and doesn’t break the bank. The food was just like mama used to make, and they are very flexible in tuning it to what you want. The portions are big. I had a sole and it was huge, the vegetables were not very imaginative, but the pasta with clam sauce, and the bolognaise were very tasty. This is a keeper for those low key, go out and get something good type nights.

surprisingly ok for the upper east side. We actually came in thinking it was a pizzeria, much to our dismay it was not… The waiter was not attentive at all, it was clear that he cared for the other tables because they were regulars. or at least had been there before. On the other hand, the owner saw our frustration and was very nice. He took our order, brought us the wine and even bought us an after dinner drink. thanks for that. The food was fine, the pasta were well prepared and the fish well cooked. I might give it another try PS: there was not a single person in that room(and the place was pretty much filled) under the age of 40… if not 50.(except me)

A great find! We were in the area not sure what to have for dinner. We decided on Arturo’s because of the parking garage next door, which has reasonable rates. It is a small, but cute place. We sat down at 10pm and were greeted with friendly service. All of our food was delicious. I would definitely return!

Arturo’s is outstanding. The service is over the top good. While I literally had my overwater filled after nearly every sip, the food is something to rave about. I tried the stuff chicken breast, which was actually amazing. The bread comes out hot, not even warm. The ambiance is quiet, classy, nice and simple. The menu is also extensive. So impressed. Taking my Italian family here when they come to visit me next.
