Stopped by there a week ago to have a drink with a friend and it appears to be closed.

Went here last Friday night, the place was completely empty… thought that was a little weird in itself. Walked in and the person behind the counter mentioned«they were just here to make some money» which was also weird. The next day we got a call saying our credit card had been hacked and was charged up with thousands of dollars. Can’t confirm it was here, but this was the only place we used this card in the last 72 hours. Be weary

The staff was nice and pretty attentive. Unfortunately, the venue was empty, the wine way overpriced and the cheese/charcuterie servings were small. I would love a successful wine bar at this location but cannot see this formula working for them.

Here’s the thing about this place: you have to experience it on its own terms. It’s not meant to be a bohemian pseudo-dive; it’s not meant to be rustic or shabby-chic. It’s a lovely, sleek wine bar with food. And it fulfills that description quite nicely. For those circumstances when you want something polished and classy, it’s perfect. It’s actually very pleasant, not packed, not overpriced. There’s an interesting wine list. It’s somewhat out of sync with the neighborhood, stylistically, a neighborhood which used to be no-man’s-land and is lately under construction all over the place, but if you’re in this area and want somewhere chic and grown-up, this is a great choice. I generally don’t go for the fancy places because of cost, but the carafe of very good wine I had here– equivalent to about two normal glasses of wine– was only $ 12. That’s kind of unbeatable. Other wines were similarly priced. A half-carafe(one glass) was $ 8. Beautiful glassware, incidentally. In surroundings like these, I was expecting double that price! They gave us some lovely salted marcona almonds to snack on, on the house, and when we left they gave each of us a little box of chocolate caramel truffles! Above and beyond.

Stopped by here with a friend after dinner since we wanted a place to hang out that’s not too rowdy. I’ve been around there many times but have never noticed this place. Before we went in, I even joked that the menu that is posted by the door have the wine list in huge fonts and the food list in such a small font that it’s really illegible. Anyway, we step in and sat at the bar. It had really dim lights which I’m sure would set the mood had we been a couple, but it was rather hard to read the menu due to the lack of light. Yes, I know I sound like a grandma right now. I’m not too much of a wine person so I was going to get a beer, but my friend suggested that I should get a dessert wine which would be sweeter. With that advice, I ordered a glass of the moscato. I have to admit that I really liked it and finished it pretty quickly. My friend got a bold and full-flavored red wine. Both of our glass of wine were $ 11 each which I find quite reasonable. Maybe next time, I’ll try the food too.

Avoid at all costs, even if you come here with a discount/coupon. My friend and I came here for what we expected to be a nice afternoon meal at a nice discount(we purchased a coupon for $ 30 that allowed us to spend $ 60 on food and drink). There was one dish we thoroughly enjoyed(the Devils on Horseback), and the Tiger Shrimp were pretty good as well, but what really made our visit a total waste was our server Richy and his manager Camille. For starters, Richy didn’t know anything about any of the menu items. Questions were answered with«ummmm» and«I don’t know,» and the five small, bite-sized tapas we ordered came out over the course of about 45 minutes. Unacceptable. When the check came, Richy charged tax on our food TWICE. Using basic third grade math concepts and reading the terms and conditions on the bottom of our coupon, I simply refused to pay the extra $ 6 he was commanding, and encouraged him to contact his manager or the police if there was any issue with that. He finally surrendered, but assured me that he’d «get in trouble» the following day when his manager came in. To make sure he didn’t get in trouble though, I called the next day, seeking the manager Camille… She wasn’t in. So I tried the next day, and the next, and the next… for about two weeks. Amidst being hung up on and being told repeatedly that she just«wasn’t available,» I finally took to their Facebook page and web site form to get ahold of someone competent. Camille finally contacted me via email, asking for a copy of the receipt, and upon receipt, she was apologetic, offering me a $ 60 check so that we may visit again. While a kind gesture, our emails went back and forth for the better part of about a month. I provided my mailing address and all information she requested in a timely manner, but the gift card/check never came. Two weeks later(still no check) when I attempted to follow up, she told me it was already sent. I replied that it wasn’t received and told her she could go ahead and cancel the check and re-send it. After another week of waiting… and waiting, I followed up again, to receive her snarky reply to «take this up with your local post office I am sure they will be able to help you» No…thank *YOU* Camille. Not only was your food mediocre and server borderline incompetent, but you refused to make good on what I thought was a friendly gesture. Bahr Che is tough enough to find around all the Astor Place intersections, but I’d suggest to anyone looking… just keep walking.

What an adorable little wine bar off of St. Marks! I’ve missed seeing this place many times as I walked by until recently, and I’m glad I found it! It’s a much classier bar than the majority in East Village, but also a bit pricier. However it’s totally worth the try if you’re looking for a quiet intimate beautifully decorated wine bar with friendly staff. Also, they have a happy hour 5−8pm with $ 30 selected bottles of wine. Awesome!

Good wine bar– lots of different options and very beautiful place. Would not eat here– the food we tried was not impressive in fact I could make better food at home. I would only go here to drink.

great little find in a perfect location. I love that the music isn’t overwhelming. Fancy schmancy décor but no cover and a fun vibe.

Just had a glass of wine before dinner so I can’t speak to the food. The service was friendly and attentive but not overly present. We were there early evening and only one other table was occupied. This would be a great place for a intimate date. It is quiet, a little dark, but classy.

This location is a little pricier than some other wine bars in the area but it’s worth it for it’s intimate setting. Bahr Che is my go to spot when I want a quiet intimate evening. I have never been there when it was too crowded. The food is good, but the portions are small so you will probably have to order more than one plate.

Bahr Che is an intimate setting where you can have a get together with friend and family or just an intimate meal. I thought the beer list had a very good selection. I had the Lindeman’s Framboise which was a nice beer that has a scent of Raspberry and goes down smooth, this beer was so nice I need to find a way to order me a box. I also tried the Hitachino White which was light bubbly and sweet. We came here for a birthday party and the staff was very nice and friendly and we were able to have conversations late into the night in a very cosy space. I definitely need to come back and try more of the selection.

Quaint, stylish, and sophisticated bar with a large wine selection and tasty(and relatively inexpensive for Manhattan) food. I held my birthday there and the servers were very kind and attentive. More people than I expected showed up and the staff at Bahr Che were very accommodating. Great location for an intimate party, a romantic date, catching up with good friends or impressing business clients.

I was brought to this place with an offer curated by Gilt City and it was a steal! For 40 bucks, we get one bottle of wine and two appetizers. My friends and I decided to take my best friend out here for her bday and we were glad we did. Mind that Bahr Che provides antipasti, your appetite will be fulfilled! My crew of 8 were well-fed and enjoyed the libations here. Menu price points are reasonable. I personally recommend the Truffle and Lobster Mac’n’Cheese — that’s amazing and badass!!! I wish Bahr Che existed in LA, I’d totally frequent this place!

Went here for the great deals. Unfortunately, with no one really in the restaurant, we couldnt get attentive service. Cheese plates should have crackers — or at least some non-stale bread. A few changes to service and food and this place could be great.

We recently visited Bahr Che off a friend’s recommendation and have returned several times to this hidden gem in NoHo. I love the ambiance, jazz, and wine! Service is warm and welcoming. Live jazz on certain nights. Highly recommend stopping by for a glass of wine and snacks or an evening of live entertainment.

Tucked away without much of a façade, this wine bar has a clean, simple, and overall very comfortable aesthetic. The list of wines is decent, but the prices aren’t particularly inexpensive, and the pours are a bit stingy. The staff ranges from absent-minded to mediocre. The menu was as pretentious as the staff. I won’t be coming back.

With a name spelled like Bahr, what can’t you do? This is a curious little place, I’m half tempted to give them five stars. I like how it is situated, easily missed and difficult to find. It’s hidden right out in the open across from Cooper Union. Who knew this building had such quirky space either. The tiny little bar is triangular in shape, and manned by a gorgeous skinny russian girl. The food isn’t really food as much as it is a runway model diet, but you’ll be bringing waify girlfriend here anyway, so who cares. On the menu is some cheese plates, and other small — and when I say small I mean micro small, items. These are easily 1⁄3 the size you’d guess at. I had some sort of marinated eggplant that although quite delicious, amounted to roughly two — count ‘em two bites! Haha. Beyond the stylish interior, I also like making a beeline for the bathroom. You’ll walk between two halves of what look like a microscopic bar, to a big red door. The handle makes you feel like you’re on a spacestation and I kinda wanted to give them an entire extra star just for that! Beyond all this was my amusement, and delight that I wasn’t paying the bill for this place! =)

This decadent wine bar is a particularly good addition to the neighborhood, and the state of the art building in which it resides. The wine selection is excellent. I am big a fan of red wine, so I highly recommend the red wine they have with the smokey bacon flavor(can’t recall the name). Their cheeses are superb. Particularly the French and Swiss selection. The Swiss selection are pungent but in a very delightful cheese way. Lastly is the ambiance. The venue is very well designed. The curves inside the the place make you feel like you’re somewhere very sophisticated. I also had a chance to chat with the Owner, Camille. She’s very, very endearing. Two thumbs up for Bahr Che.

If ever there were a textbook definition of «you won’t find this place if you’re not looking for it», Bahr Che is definitely it. Tucked around the corner from the Astor Place Cube in what appears to be a Chase bank, even knowing the address won’t help you find it. Just plan on walking around a bit and looking for a metal sign on the street in front. Inside, though, it’s a nice space(though small) that had been rented for a party for a friend’s birthday. They serve a nice selection of wines in those old-school large red wine glasses that make you* feel really fancy while the pesto and tomato sandwiches they served were pretty tasty. Bahr Che is kind of small, in sort of a backwards L shape with more room in the front than in the back(to the left) and the bar is kind of awkwardly in the middle of the room. But I really liked the space and sitting at the bar seems like the way to go here. As an out-of-its-element place, it’s a good fit for the East Village in that it’s not your typical East Village place at all. But if you want a nice wine bar that’s good for a first date spot(or a stop-in spot when your significant other doesn’t want five shots for a Hamilton), this is a good choice. * — me.
