I went there a week ago to dye my hair, because my hairdresser could never get the color right… Alvina understood exactly what I want and was able to get the exact color that I want… She is also very pleasant and positive person. Entire salon has a very modern and yet warm feeling. They are all very nice ladies. They do simple nice thing like take your coat to hang, offer you water and etc. Very clean and pleasant! Yesterday, I went there again to get my hair cut. Alvin delivered an excellent job! I have to be honest I was not sure about changing my hairdresser, but now I am definitely and permanently going to have Alvina as my hairdresser! Alvin is an excellent hair stylist!

This is a traditional hair salon near NYU. They take walk-in appointments, at least for men, so if you need your hair cut quickly it’s probably a good option.

Will never go here again, had tape in extensions put in a week ago and they are already falling out — called the salon and they said KAYLA who did my hair knowing its her fault on application, she wanted to charge 100 plus 240 for the hair to put back in the correct way, I’m in shock I trusted this salon, they are thieves and don’t know what they are doing.

I went in to get a semi-permanent hair dye that they promised would wash away in six weeks. I asked for a dark blond. The first go around didn’t really work, so they dyed my hair again with what I swear was a different shade(The first they joked looked like cake batter. The second, they joked, looked like the color of the nose of Bobo the clown) I ended up with a bright red color that was wildly uneven(to the point where later my brother even asked me why I didn’t dye my hair everywhere, incredulous that something so bad could be done at a salon). They took me outside to try and tell me it was the lighting and that they did not change the color, but when I went back the next day, they conceded that it didn’t look very good. All they did was promise that it would go away, never offering to refund me or try again. Two months of using clarifying shampoo later, and I still have uneven red hair. I even tried using Color Oops, to no avail. What was supposed to be a temporary dark blond has turned into months of awful red hair that I’ll eventually have to bleach, something I always wanted to avoid. Please do not go here. Trust me. Avoid them like the plague. Update: Let’s say you DID offer to fix my hair(Which no one did. When I went in the next day, the stylist patted my hair, said it looked good and promised that it would wash off. The first time I heard the word ‘clarifying’ was when I called my mother in TEARS, who advised that I don’t go back to the place that butchered my hair) — You still did a fundamentally bad job. Even if I HAD asked for red it was a red that was so uneven that I was embarrassed to go outside. The top of my head and the bottom were literally different colors. And it’s been two months, well after the color should be gone. I went before my sister’s birthday, which is on May 5th. Stop telling people the color washes out. It doesn’t. Another salon confirmed my fears that this is permanent.

I am extremely disappointed. I have been here countless times for their $ 29 shampoo & blow dry deal and paid $ 29. I always tip $ 10 because I am always pleased. Today, halfway through my blow-dry, I was informed by the front desk that it would cost $ 10 extra because my hair was thick. I protested, saying I had been there before and paid $ 29 every time. She said the prices changed. I said, well you should have told me before. She had nothing to offer. Hair half wet and with a party to attend, I didn’t have any choice but to sit there awkwardly and then pay $ 10 more than I had expected to. I obviously still tipped, because I’m not an asshole, so the experience cost me $ 50. Ugh. I told her I would never go back there, and I never will. What a colossal disappointment.

I have been going to Kathleen on and off for almost 10 years now, here and also when she worked at Jeffery Stein around the corner. I have always received an incredible haircut, and she is very friendly and charming. The girl who shampoos and massages is also fantastic. All around, always a great experience for a reasonable cost.

If you want the best cut and a great experience, see Damien. He is by far the best stylist I have worked with. His attention to detail is impeccable and he is 100% professional. A seasoned stylist who constantly educates himself on the latest trends and techniques. I trust no one else with my hair. He understands my unique texture(curly /fine hair) and styles me in such a way that I can easily manage on my own. I find his work especially wonderful during my «grow out» phase from a pixie cut. I could go 6 months without a trim and still have a beautiful styled look.

Went in for color. Found staff to be very unfriendly. They did not make me feel like they were glad I came in. Won’t be returning.

Although I cannot speak for the rest of the salon, I get my haircut here with Kathleen and she is fabulous. She has a great attitude and cuts my hair exactly the way I like — she doesn’t try and take any artistic license which I appreciate. The salon could be updated, but based on my experience with Kathleen alone, I have to give it 5 stars. I don’t really care about aesthetics if the person cutting my hair does a fabulous job.

Stay away! There’s a reason why their blowouts are just $ 29. The blonde woman at the front desk is remarkably rude! She possesses zero interpersonal skills, which is interesting, as customer service makes or breaks a business — especially in NYC. Maybe she has the job on account of nepotism — but bleu sur bleu would be far better off with an automatic booking/check-in system… Or for that matter, a rabid animal! Don’t waste your time.

I just went to this beauty salon and I am beyond disappointed! First of all, they only gave me 1 shampoo and when I was about to ask for another one the lady was putting me conditioner. Then the lady that blew out my hair did a terrible job even when I explained to her what I wanted. I was done within 30 minutes and i have long hair. I would have done a much better job myself at home. I was beyond upset and when I explained this to management they did nothing to fix this mess. I will NEVER go back to this salon… no customer service and they think that they are doing you a favor. STAYAWAY. WASTEOFYOURMONEY!!!

I am absolutely horrified to see such poor reviews. I come here every single week for a blowout and I am obsessed. I have gone to many expensive salons and paid up to $ 100 for a blowout and they don’t compare to the one I get from Nora. She really knows how to work with long hair and does an amazing job. Blowouts with her last for days and she also cuts my hair. I have been going to see her for over a year and I bring all my friends and family members to her. She’s the only hair stylist I trust in the city!

I will be honest i am a hair snob. I went to this salon as a suggestion by my friend and I have to say I was very disappointed. The hair dresser yanked my head around and kept asking me to keep my head still. I wanted to tell her that if she wasn’t man handling my head and yanking on my hair maybe my head wouldnt move so much. The hair products on her station were products that could be purchased in a drug store. I saw garnier fructise! By the time I was done the cut and blow dry was ok but for $ 72 I would have expected a more relaxing experience with better hair products than L’Oreal shampoo and drug store hair products. Needless to say I will not be back.

I needed a haircut and decided to try this place out because it’s close to my work. I won’t be back. Though the lady who shampooed me, and the massage chairs at that stage, were great(source of 2 stars instead of 1), Nora who did my cut was terrible. :( I have long hair with layers and I was looking to clean it up and add some Zooey-Deschanel-type bangs. I brought a stack of photos showing EXACTLY what I wanted. Nora seemed skeptical, but«agreed» to do it. As she cut, she started insisting«that’s not what you want»(referring to my pics)… she then proceeded to give me a terrible 90’s-looking cut like something Monica wore on Friends. TERRIBLE. I tried to get her to fix it, and she refused. Told me to come back in a week if I still wanted her to change it. I don’t go to a salon and pay nearly $ 100 and expect to have to ARGUE with the hairdresser — or be forced to return in a week for them to finish the job. All I can do now is wait for her mess to grow out and try again elsewhere. If all you want is a shampoo, this place isn’t bad, but I DON’T recommend a cut.
