We dropped by here to grab some caffeine & a bite to eat before going to the Met Museum.
The owner was so nice & courteous. He took our order, sat us & promptly brought us our latte & espresso’s.
Really good blueberry muffin & the coffee’s hit the spot!
The classical music, art on the walls, even the tables & chairs make this place so cute & quaint.

This place is fantastic. The decoration makes me feel like I’m in a room in my favorite dollhouse. The service is great, non rushed, saw people sitting on their computers pretending to be brilliant for hours; typical NY pretentiousness. I was frustrated by the trust fund brat with her feet on the chair and their lack of correction, but again I stress the NY pretentiousness. The coffee is a little weak but with businesses having such a rough time surviving, I find it irresponsible to give this place anything less than the credit it deserves which is 5 stars.

Friendly service, tucked away cute atmosphere, but the food and pastry weren’t great… pretty average.

First, I LOVE the waitstaff. Second, LOVE the atmosphere: the quiet tables and work with your computer or meet with a friend without feeling cramped and rushes. Third, LOVE the smoked salmon sandwich!
I have come here several times now to have meetings with work colleagues (I work in several schools, so do not have a standard office) and to even to interview potential staff. I have never felt rushed, or cramped, and I know I can sit as long as I like.
I have order some of the pastries in the past, which I was not as keen on, but then this last time ordered the Smoked Salmon sandwich (Not on the menu BTW, ask them what sandwiches they have and you get a list) and it was FABULOUS. Novie on baguette served with a side salad on the plate. Hot and Delicious.
For drinks, I always order an iced coffee, which is weaker but that’s the strength I like. In terms of edibles, the best I’ve had at this place was the smoked salmon sandwich.
The staff are really kind, and hard-​working. Strike up a conversation and see how nice they are ;-)

Great spot to sit all day and do work. Service is not the best i’ve ever seen, but its definitely not shoddy like some of the other reviewers are saying.
I’ve never had the pastries, but i agree that the coffee drinks are a bit on the weaker side but they come out in charming cups and glasses. The food, when they have them, is fairly good. i recommend the salads as the sandwiches are a bit bland.
I come here bc its in the neighborhood and i can sit here all day and work on things that i wouldn’t work on at home. that’s pretty much it. otherwise there are many other places to get food/​coffee.
pluses: you can sit for hours without getting kicked out, friendly service. was going to put decent food and coffee but that can be debatable.
minuses: no wifi, chairs are a bit hard, lots of tourists so it can get pretty loud.

Coffee beverages were very weak. The desserts were pretty good, but the service was terrible. Took forever to place order. Took even longer to get the order. Asked for ice water and never got it. Asked for the check and never got it. I had to go up to the register just to get them to put together the check.
The only reason to come to this place is if you want to hang out and read or work. They will probably leave you alone for hours.

What a great spot!
I’ve gone 3 weekends in a row now to sit, drink my coffee and read the paper in peace. It’s very peaceful and the staff is nice (they are friendly without being real chatty, and they don’t rush you).

Adorable.
This café is retrofit into what was «The Shop Around the Corner» in the movie «You’ve Got Mail.» It’s adorable, offers waitress service, tons of pies, tiramisu and pastries and delicious teas.
Great for dates.
Great for tourists (with the «You’ve Got Mail» angle).
Great alternative to Alice’s Tea Cup NYC for tea.
