ChaiseFitness Private Studio

Always go back to a 3+ rated studio, because 1 good experience could lead to a great one, and for me it did!
I took Reinvention Chair with Lauren Monday night, and with 5 of us in this small grop boutique class, it was fun, energetic, never boring and positive. The instructor was great, and it worked my butt off. Its my favorite workout so far through classpass to date. This time the blinds were down blocking the passers by, and I liked that much better.
The class is not easy, you have to be coordinated and athletic I have to say– this is not for newbies. Stick to barre classes even though tough, not dangerous. This class you really have to be self aware, coordinated, conscious and in shape.
I cannot wait to go back! 5+ stars!

Great workout! I took cardio chair and trx classes through classpass. I enjoyed them so much I ended up buying a package of 5 classes, but then by the 5^th class I was a little bored, kinda same routine. I think from now on I’m going to stick to the 3 class limit per studio and get more variety through classpass. Otherwise, for a class once a week this is a solid workout!

I really wanted to like Chaise Fitness, but this studio does not live up to expectations. I had a mediocre experience at their renovation chair class earlier this week.
I received an email the day before asking me to be there 15 minutes before class since I was a new student or I would not be allowed into class. Fair enough, the chair is a new piece of equipment that I’m not familiar with and I thought it would be useful to learn the basic before class. Arriving early was pointless since the instructor only spent about 5 minutes teaching us how to use the chair. Anyway, while I was up on the chair learning the signature moves my bungee SNAPPED and I fell face straight into the floor! The foamy floors in the studio helped me come out of it with only a few bruises and scratches but I could have gotten seriously injured had I landed in another position. The instructor was startled saying that this had never happened before. FYI, I’m petite at 5’3 and 120 lbs so my size was not an issue. I considered leaving, but in my state of shock I decided to give this class a try.
The class itself was ok, some of the exercises were hard but nothing you couldn’t do on the floor. The instructor made sure to correct my form and was nice to me throughout class, but I just couldn’t help but be nervous thinking the bungee could snap at any moment.
I’m disappointed no one from management checked in with me after class. It speaks volumes about the kind of studio this is and their customer service. Clearly a customer’s well being is not a priority for Chaise. Needless to say, I won’t be back.

I think there are three very important aspects of a GREAT workout and Chaise Fitness meets them all and more.
1.) Facility: The private studio is small (only 6 chairs I believe), but it is immaculate and lined with mirrors so that you can watch your form. Also smaller classes ensure more attention so you can’t slack!
2.) Instructor: I’m a newbie to Chaise Fitness and have only taken a few Reinvention Chair classes, but EVERY SINGLE instructor that I’ve had so far has been awesome. They get into the forms and work-​outs with you, keep you motivated (perky dancers!), and give positive feedback and readjustments when needed. I even got a personalized email from an instructor, Sarah, giving me great suggestions and techniques to keep in mind for future classes. What the what??! This is awesome!
3.) The Workout: Im sweating like a fiend and i’m the kind of person that usually just ‘glistens slightly’ after workouts. My arms burn, my core burns, my glutes burn, my quads burn. OK you get the idea. If I keep coming back will I have the same dancers bodies as the instructors?

ChaiseFitness puts the fun into fitness. I absolutely love this place. I’ve been raving about it to everyone since I started a couple of months ago.
Classes: They offer many different classes but I have been to Ballet Bungee and Reinvention Chair only. IF YOU ARE A NEW STUDENT, YOU MUST SHOW UP EARLY FOR CLASS ORIENTATION, OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED.
It was really Ballet Bungee that I fell in love with. But I took Reinvention Chair at this location. Reinvention Chair is much more of a challenge than Ballet Bungee. You will not only need to have your Wheaties before heading to this class but also phone a friend for some extra balance. The chair apparatus is a unique take on pilates machines; it has a seat and a pedal on adjustable springs. Between the bungees and the chair, you will be doing modified lunges, squats and what-​have-​you until your body is a puddle of sweat and your muscles feel like jelly. This class was even harder for me since I have the balance of a newborn giraffe. The most difficult part of this class is learning the correct form of each movement and then keeping it as your muscles fatigue.
Facility: This looks to be a brand-​new location. Small but with the standard lockers with built-​in locks. I did not see a changing area but I was also not paying attention. The entire studio consists of a small reception, tiny locker area, and small fitness room with bungees and ‘chairs.’ My biggest gripe is that the fitness room is lined with glass – positioned squarely on the ground floor on Lexington and 82^nd – so that the whole world can see you teether on that blasted chair and your arm fat flap. Thankfully, a student complained about the sun and the shades were eventually drawn partway through the class. The weird-​factor was the reason I gave 4 Stars rather than 5.
Pricing: Single classes are $ 39 and there are packages. Student discounts are 10% off, but not on reoccurring monthly packages. I’ve seen Chaise Fitness offer discounts to new students on Gilt City, if you want to wait for that to reappear.

I love this place. The instructors are all really good. They are professional dancers, gymnasts, skaters –and the clients are all real-​life people. No poseurs or superhumans, so you are motivated but not self-​conscious in class. The class sizes are small, the studio is intimate. My one wish would be for more after-​work and weekend options.

Me and my buds have taken the TRX class and it kicked our arses. Didn“t think I could sweat that much. If you don’t want to get cut then don’t come to this class. Not to be missed. Ryan rules.

If you are looking for a way to make working out fun and effective look no further. This studio has it all; slideboard, TRX, reformer machines and the chair. The studio staff is so friendly and helpful. I feel like I am part of their family. I can never go back to a gym or another studio again. I don’t even live in the area and continue to go 3 times a week despite my hour commute. I challenge anyone to go and see if they not only lose weight but fall in love with pilates!

Took a Cardio Slideboard class which I really enjoyed. The instructor, Sandy, was great and the class was small (4 people), so I felt we all got individual attention. The studio is not very big and the dressing room is tiny. Next time I’ll change into my gym clothes at work before going to class. I plan on trying out the TRX Suspension class next.

I tried this studio out for a 5 week package, one private and one class per week. I found all the teachers to be very nice and accommodating — they remember your name. Some of the rooms within the studio are a bit small, but overall it’s a nice space. I had most of my privates with Ryan who was very tough but think it was great challenge for my body. I tried the Slideboard and TRX classes which were really fun and hard! Class sizes are about 7 – 8 people. It was a nice change from the pilates mat/​tower/​reformer classes I usually take. One star off for the prices for classes ($ 34).

Small class sizes and extremely motivating, knowledgeable, and friendly instructors make this one of the best places on the UES to get a great workout. I have tried many of the classes – TRX, SlideBoard, and Pilates chair – and they are all great. After my first TRX, I was sore for a week. The private sessions are also amazing and worth every penny.

I was going to give it 3 stars, but according to ‘yelp’s’ rankings I would definitely say I’ve experienced better.
Classes: All ok although I didn’t feel like I was adjusted much despite the small class settings and I wasn’t sore the next few days which tells me that I could have been pushed harder.
Class schedule: There really aren’t many classes and the classes are small so I found it hard to arrange times. There’s only 1 evening class usually Mon-​Thur. and none on Friday. Saturday afternoon’s are sparce and it just didn’t work well in my schedule.
I got a Lifebooker certificate and tried to use them all before the expiration date, but so was everyone else so ALL classes for the last week were booked up… so I ended up loosing 2 classes. :(I knew I wasn’t going back after the certificates were used up so I wasn’t upset about that, but I do hate that they didn’t try and extend the certificates.
I didn’t find it a horrible place, just small and not ideal. I’ve found a few other yoga/​pilates studio that I like a lot so I’m inclined to give Physicalmind Studio a worse rating.

I learned about the studio when I received a flyer offering 3 classes for the price of 1. So i said why not check it out. Instantly love the studio! The classes are small which I very much prefer because you get personal attention from the instructor. I took my first class Slideboard which was fun and great cardio workout. Totally worked out my legs. Last night I took the TRX which is perfect for strength training if you don’t like using weights at the gym. So far I enjoyed both classes and both instructors. I can’t wait to take my next class.

This recently opened studio is out of this world… The TRX class has topped any class I have taken — it was AWESOME! I like to think of myself as a very fit person and yet the slide class completely through me for a loop — it did not feel that difficult but the result was unbelievable. I used muscles I did not know I had!!! Of course the pilates is the specialty so need I say more! I highly recommend taking it for a test drive — the staff is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and attentive!!! I could not be happier this studio opened in my neighborhood!!!
