Pilates Challenge

Every time I leave here, I always say I need to write a review. Let me preface this with, I will be going back here — it’s by my apartment and is clean, but I just have some gripes and being here a few times now, I know it wasn’t a one class thing. Let me start by saying the place is really nice — from the outside it seems like it would be a little shoddy, but it’s large, sunny and modern. So there’s that. I do pilates two to three times during the week (sometimes at different places) and when I come here I feel like an amateur. If you’re like me, 2 – 3 times a week is a win and a big accomplishment. Here’s the thing — the mat classes are so small here (sometimes three people) and I don’t know if that’s the reason for this, but there is a lot of singling out i.e. «Oh you know you’re flexible!» and «Oh, you’re not so flexible so do this.» If the feedback was delivered in another way, ok. As far as the teaching style goes, and the techniques used, I just don’t know, can’t crack the code.

studio has uptight, unwelcoming, upper east side vibe which generally send shivers down my spine, but hey, it is on the upper east side!

I’ve been going with a Groupon I got for $ 35 for 3 mat classes. I’ve enjoyed them so far — though they seem introductory in nature to get you into the studio.

I started Pilates for the first time ever one year ago at Pilates Challenge & I am really happy I did. The studio is new, clean and well lit. The equipment is all top of the line Gratz equipment, but what really makes this place special is the people who work here. The front desk staff is always helpful and extremely kind. I think I’ve worked with every instructor here and they are all equally amazing. They know Pilates so well and are always able to either make an exercise more challenging or scale it down a little so you can do it properly. Pilates has been just what I need to get into the shape I want to be in. I get stronger and more flexible everyday because of it. I am officially and addict. Love Pilates challenge! If you are on the fence, just try it once and you will see what I am talking about.

Very clean, well run studio that has very capable instructors for every level of fitness and personality type. I have tried other studios in the city and this one is by BY FAR my favorite. As others have noted, Pilates Challenge is very clean, friendly and laid back. I also appreciate that they send regular reminder emails to confirm private appointments. I travel a considerable distance early in the morning on the weekends because I like this place so much. I highly recommend it. I think that their prices are on par with other Pilates-​only studios in Manhattan but without the obnoxious attitude. I have received great results with my instructor as well.

This place is the best. I started Pilates here last summer and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve struggled in the past to find a workout routine I can get into; but the variety of classes and the times of the classes here are engaging and convenient.

Very wonderful atmosphere! I bought a deal off living social to try this place out. Even though it is a bit pricey for me, this place is def worth it. They staff is super friendly and very laid back. The studio is spacious and inviting. They are also very clean. I have tried the mat pilates, and the workout is not too intense but I felt my muscles sore the next day. Love that feeling! Overall awesome place!

This place just opened above Lexington Candy Shop. I love it. Great personal attention and state of the art equipment. The architecture is open and friendly and the instructors are former ballet dancers from Mexico. Highly recommend
