Fortius Physical Therapy is the absolute BEST! Jim, Evan and the entire team will give you hands on, personal attention that you rarely find in a physical therapy office, especially in NYC!
The Fortius team helped me through a foot injury that came up during my half marathon training. Not only did they help me recover from the injury but once I was healed, they showed me what to do to stay injury-​free on my own. Because of them, I was able to run my first half and full marathon pain-​free!
Not only can you count on getting through whatever aches and pains you have at Fortius, but you’ll look forward to going! Everyone in the office is so nice and they all truly care about the patients. The atmosphere is always energetic and fun and there’s always some good music playing while you do your exercises.
Although Fortius helped me heal, I miss my PT sessions! I highly, highly recommend them if you need physical therapy of any kind. There’s nobody better!

Where do I even begin?!
After being hit by an NYC cab, I was recommended to Fortius to try and PT my knee situation. From the minute I walked in the door, throughout a year of PT, knee surgery and recovery, Fortius became my second home — and a great one at that! My case was a little difficult and needed some extra attention, and Fortius provided that. I worked with Evan twice a week for almost a year to help get me back on my feet — literally — and work on living as pain free a life as possible. He never gave up on me and, unlike most doctors, he always made the time. It doesn’t matter how busy the office gets, Fortius treats each patient individually, greets them with a friendly smile and helps you to discover your full physical potential — a little laughter goes a long way too!
From the front desk staff to the doctors and even the patients, Fortius maintains a wonderful environment for not only physical healing, but also the mental and emotional healing that can be needed when undergoing physical therapy. Everyone supports one another and cares about each others progress. The office facilitates a very close-​knit team environment — and a little healthy competition now and again is always welcome :)
I would recommend anyone to Fortius who is looking for great personalized care, a supportive environment, both educated and friendly doctors and a convenient location with flexible hours. They got me back on my feet and I’m sure they can do the same for you!

I had a fantastic experience with Fortius after surgery for a broken metatarsal. The whole team was informal and friendly. Every session was fun, even when challenging from a physical point of view. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

I limped into Fortius and walked out a marathoner. I developed a painful hip issue 2 months before the NYC marathon, really unsure of how the rest of my training would go. Prior to making the call, I was determined to find a conveniently located office who accepted my insurance and the right therapist with marathon experience who would understand my need to adhere to a training program. Evan fit the bill.
Within a couple visits, I was walking and running pain-​free. As my training progressed and new ailments developed, both Evan and Jim patiently treated every last ache and pain and were available between sessions to promptly answer emails and phone calls. The Fortius office, with its fun and friendly atmosphere, became a place I looked forward to going — something I’d never experienced with other PT offices. I made it to the start line feeling strong and healthy and successfully completed my marathon — a feat made possible thanks to the team at Fortius.

Jim & team are the absolute best! What a wonderful experience. I thought PT was going to be a drag and instead I found myself looking forward to going and doing the exercises. I immediately saw results. I started PT being unable to run for 8 weeks after I injured BOTH IT Bands during a half marathon. I ended PT 18 weeks later running the NYC Marathon! I couldn’t have done it without Fortius.

Both my boyfriend and I had a great experience with Jim Trakis and Fortius PT. I was trying to increase my mileage and started having IT band problems, my boyfriend was recovering from a shoulder surgery. We both received the focused attention of the staff, who developed a personalized plan for our sessions and worked closely to adjust it as we improved.
The office is conveniently located in midtown and has flexible hours for visits before or after work. The environment is very friendly and relaxed, plus they do a great job of rotating patients through the office without it feeling crowded or rushed. The whole staff is great, down to the receptionist/​office assistant.
I would strongly recommend Fortius to anyone considering physical therapy.

I had a wonderful experience with Jim and his team-​after having surgery on knee to repair my ACL and meniscus, it was a long road to hoe in terms of therapy, but their approach is hands on, consistent, and extremely knowledgeable. They pushed me just the right amount, and Jim and I worked together to get my knee and my leg back to better than fighting shape! Within just a year from my surgery, I completed my first Ironman!
I still do a lot of the exercises Jim recommended almost every day. Whatever your goals are, Fortius can give you the therapy and strengthening you need to help you achieve them.

A rehab doctor at Cornell referred me to Fortius following persistent lower back/​si joint-​related pain. I could not have been more pleased with the care I received there, which included sessions with both Evan and Jim. While the pain was precipitated by trying to lift my grandfather several months before, Evan diagnosed and set up a treatment plan for the underlying lack of lower back flexibility, proper core strength and misalignment in my hips that were likely at the root of things. Throughout the twelve sessions I was there, the Fortius team always answered my (often redundant) questions with detail and patience, paid close attention not only during stretches and massage therapy but also while I was doing exercises (coming over to correct form) and never made me feel rushed. Evan, Jim, their interns and the entire office staff could not have been more friendly and the small size of the office only assists in their ability to move seamlessly from patient to patient. Cannot recommend enough!

After seeing a chiropractor for lower back issues and getting no closer to being painless i found Dr Trakis. In just a couple of sessions and with take home exercises and stretches i am pain free. Jim and his team looked at the underlying problem and treated that. I now have the tools to deal with my lower back pain when it come back. Now im «living the dream»

I was in need of physical therapy after my ACL and Meniscus tear/​surgery. I picked Fortius based on proximity to my apartment, and the excellent reviews I have read verse it’s nearby competitors which had no reviews. After tremendous progress after a handful of sessions here are my bullet points:
–Excellent understanding and answering of my detailed questions about my knee recovery.
–Tremendous involvement of seeing and pushing me to get better one exercise, treatment, or stretch at a time.
–Safety, comfort, friendly and personal customer service that raises the bar on any medical services I received. The warmth is especially important and appreciated as healing an injury is a lot about staying positive and optimistic.

The moment you step foot into Fortius Physical Therapy, you’re greeted warmly by their friendly staff. The vibe is laid back, with good music playing in the background, but the attitude is serious when it comes to healing.
Dr. Trakis and Dr. Gellert are both highly knowledgeable, qualified and determined to help you get better. They make you feel comfortable and their easy-​going manner helps you forget the hard work involved with rehabilitation.
I would definitely recommend them, over and over!

I found Fortius PT through NY Road Runners and I can not be more happy everything. I went in for knee problems and knee surgery and my recovery has been unbelievable and i am confident of a fully healthy 100%+ recovery because of the work that Fortius has provided. It’s like a family in there, always a fun environment. You meet interesting people who are all rehabbing something or other just like you. Jim is fantastic, professional, knowledgeable, and with a great attitude, but most importantly, he will deliver results and get you better. And don’t forget Sir Juan the PT assistant who is also awesome, cheerful, and amazingly helpful!

Jim Trakis and his crew are fantastic. They were recommended to me by a few colleagues at my office after I injured my knee while skiing.
These guys are incredibly energetic and positive and create a great atmosphere in the office. And the PT is great as well. My knee is doing much better. In my opinion, one needs a good atmosphere when trying to recover from an injury, and Fortius provides a fantastic environment.
