A moderately good food cart. Inexpensive compared to some of the others around the touristy area. Nice chicken and rice. Easy to find as it’s right near Duane Reade

There are several halal carts in the area. This review is the one by Duane Reade in front of the outdoor parking lot. Been coming here for years. I’ve had my share of street meat and while my devotion lies with the halal guys on 53rd and 6th, this cart is a reliable alternative when needing a quick halal fix even as late as 4am. I usually get a lamb gyro, filled with thick chunks of savory, salty, greasy goodness. Oh the sodium and fat, i can taste it in my mouth. White sauce is ok, not great but I like the hot sauce as it’s super hot which I like. Best part is this guy hooks it up on portion size. Not sure if it’s because I go a lot, but he’s never short changed me when it comes to meat. And the sandwich is only $ 5 which is a deal. Rice platter is pretty good as well.

What do you want when you stop at a cart? I say: great taste, great service, and a great price. Said that way, that’s what you want from almost any restaurant or place of consumption. This one fit things to a tee. It could be that we were getting the cart at midnight starving but I will think otherwise. Our guy was VERY efficient. We got our food in crazy fast time. I have been to plenty of carts and for midnight in the south end of Times Square, he was courteous and cool all at the same time. Was there any surprises in options, no. It was the usual mix that you can get at pretty much any cart. But tasted great, served in quick time with a lot of care for us. Price was crazy high so it took some consideration as to the rating. Sometimes you wish there was a 4 ½ star rating…

Geez. The only thing about this cart is that your next Lamb Gyro is better than the last one you had! One rainy day in Hell’s Kitchen, two gyros!

I suppose there’s not really much to say… it’s street meat. In my opinion it’s a bit above average but not life changing. The prices are standard for the area and the guys are really nice. I helped one with a sudoku puzzle once. Well, tried to, but I was intoxicated and not actually able to help at all.

haha, This new Halal Cart replaced the old Kebab cart. And the Chicken over rice is totally the same as the crazy one on 53rd, 6th! It’s served in a slightly smaller but deeper bowl, and cost even 1 dollar lower — $ 5 If you pay $ 6, you’ll get a water/soda.
