the price was decent $ 5. i wouldn’t really come again unless i had no other choice. i got a chicken over rice. it seemed like i got more onions or something than rice and chicken combined. it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. he did give a lot of white sauce tho. but honestly, i wouldn’t go back to this cart.

Just another typical halal cart that you wouldn’t think twice about. The only distinguishing factor about this one is the large scrolling LED screen perched on the upper half of the cart. But like all things Unilocal(if you are a true elite Unilocaler), we have to be nonbiased when trying out a place for the first time. And since this cart has not been reviewed, it was sort of a no-brainer. I just recently tried Adhams Halal Food cart which is located across the street. I was definitely a fan of them and being that there was a small crowd at this cart, my interests perked. In my usual fashion, I ordered the Chicken over Rice($ 5.00) with white sauce and hot sauce. I also asked to try the lamb which the chef generous put a tong-full or two on top of my platter. The first thing I noticed about the platter were the generous portions. Maybe not as much as Adhams but enough to make most lunchers full. It was a bit hard to make out the chicken and lamb underneath what seemed to be a layer of white sauce and hot sauce, but after making my way through, I was treated to some tasty chopped up bits of tender chicken. And let me emphasize chopped up bits, it’s not the usual chunks of chicken that some street vendors do. The lamb was equally chopped up into very small bits. Again, I would have preferred for it to be in slices, so that you can taste the crispy charred side and salty inside. Both had very good flavor and was on point for any typical halal cart. However, I found that he put too much white sauce which definitely overpowered the meat, but definitely did make things taste delicious. Afterall, who doesn’t like mayo? The hot sauce was mild to hot, giving the dish some subtle heat. It was more of a thicker and grainy variation of a hot sauce, as if the chili pepper were crushed and ground. It’s not for all people such as my coworker who seemed to be bothered by this and didn’t seem to enjoy it as much. As for the other fixin’s included, there was a large portion of long-grain rice, and then a side salad consisting of lettuce, tomatoes, and non-pitted olives. The fermented olives were definitely a nice touch, adding a salty and sour touch to the dish. I definitely enjoyed my Chicken over Rice. It was a solid choice and I was not disappointed, but I found it to be like any other Halal cart. Between Adhams and this cart, I would definitely hit up Adhams. But as far as value goes, if you’re opting for the combo platter, I recommend hitting up this cart as it’ll only cost you $ 5.00 vs. $ 6.00 at Adhams.
