I wish I had checked this page before purchasing from Humble Abode. Ordered a bed two months ago and it still hasn’t arrived, with little communication from the company on progress, as well as low sense of urgency in getting things delivered.
You’ll very likely regret if you were to purchase from this company.
Update: After two weeks of constantly communicating with their customer service staff and freight service company, my bed still hasn’t arrived. Do NOT order from this company.

I ordered 6 kitchen chairs based on the description and photo on the Humble Abode website. The chairs I received looked nothing like the chairs on the website. I contacted Humble Abode and their response was they would take them back if I pay shipping and a «re-​stocking» fee totaling just under $ 400. The cost of the chairs totaled $ 800.
I told them I’d pay for the shipping (about $ 180) but not the restocking as they falsely advertised the chairs. I sent Humble Abode a picture of the chairs I received and included their website photo side-​by-​side. their response was, «It all depends on the angle of the photo.» I wish I could attach the 2 pictures. They further went on to say, «Due to the length of time (less than a month) that I took to resolve this, they would no longer take the chairs back.» Keep in mind I only opened 1 of 3 boxes. The chairs are new and never assembled.
I’ve since filed a complaint with the BBB and I’m considering taking them to court. They are crooks, DO NOT BUY FROM THESE FOLKS. I am referring to their Santa Rosa location but based on the BBB and Unilocal reviews, it is clearly company-​wide.

Customer service nightmare — they did not deliver item as promised. Ordered a bed with free «Entryway Delivery by Appointment» — 3 of the 4 packages were left outside front door in the snow without any notice one package was lost/​never delivered. As the items were going to a vacation home 5 hours away, I was unaware the items were delivered as no delivery appointment had ever been scheduled, and no tracking info or updates had ever been sent. When I inquired about the order status, they sent tracking numbers and I then learned 3 of the 4 packages had been delivered already and were sitting in the snow — I was so upset! They requested photos, and I explained that this was a vacation home and I was 5 hours away. They refused to do anything to correct the matter — the manager «Brenna» was nasty, unprofessional telling me the packages were delivered and there was nothing they could do. They wanted me to go there to take photos and prove «damage» when it was obviously their error. Terrible customer service.

I ordered a bed frame from Humble Abode on January 24. As of April 2 I have still not received the frame, and have been told it will be shipped April 30 (maybe).
I initially contacted Humble Abode January 8 to inquire about a price to customize the frame I wanted (raising it from 8 to 11 inches above the floor). After being told they would get back to me the following day with a price, I heard nothing until I followed up 2 weeks later. They said there was some system glitch and the email never sent. This should have been a red flag.
Since then, Humble Abode customer service has been nearly non-​existent. I did not receive notice of shipping until I emailed Feb 21 to follow up on when they thought it might ship. They responded Feb 25 to inform me that it had shipped on Feb 17 — Again, they had some system glitch and didn’t send me the notification email. Even after I received an email from Humble Abode telling me that the bed was in town and ready to be delivered, this was just wrong information — the shipping company could not deliver because they received only 2 pieces of the 3-​piece shipment.
I was then out of the country for 2 weeks, but on March 17, I phoned the shipping company to schedule delivery, and was told that the 3^rd piece (the frame) was damaged in shipping and that they were in contact with Humble Abode about next steps. No one from either the shipping company or Humble Abode took the initiative to contact me about this. On March 18 Humble Abode emailed me to repeat the same information.
On March 20, after sitting on hold with Humble Abode for over 30 minutes without ever speaking to a person, I sent a frustrated email requesting a phone call from a supervisor, in response to which I received an apology email March 23, no phone call, and then on March 31 an email asking me to schedule delivery of the two undamaged pieces that were shipped back in February. As though I have space to store pieces of an incomplete bed frame, and the time to sit home for two separate deliveries. I declined.
This morning, April 2, I received an email that the new frame was ordered March 31, delivery expected April 30. No explanation for why the replacement frame was not ordered back at the end of February, when the original was damaged. No explanation for why it will take another month to produce the replacement.
The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is optimism that I’ll love the frame if I ever actually receive it. Go elsewhere.

This company claims to have a lowest price guarantee, so I contacted them about a king size bed frame I found at bizchair for $ 130 less at than what they had it listed for. It was the identical model. They refused to beat the price or even match it, and told me my price was for delivery to a dock. That was a complete crock of garbage. As it actually turned out Humble Abode was the highest price on the internet. It was even more expensive then the local brick and mortar distributor. Anyway I recieved the bed from bizchair without issues.
I gave Humble Abode a chance to match or beat pricing as they claimed, but found out that this company is a complete sham. So beware!

This store has some pretty cool furniture, décor, and gift items. I would have given them 5 stars just for offering a unique shopping experience in Manhattan, KS; however, I can only give 2 stars because of customer service. They openly promote taking custom orders but apparently only one employee deals with them. I have been in 3 times to order a bed but needed to know one piece of information first (is it a platform base — determines if I need to buy a box spring). All 3 times, the person working the register could not tell me an answer but were very nice and promised to email/​text me the info once they talked to the person that handles custom orders. Never got the info. Ended up ordering the bed (along with some side tables I saw in the store) from an online retailer. I REALLY wanted to «shop local», but I shouldn’t have to work so hard to spend my money.

I went here looking for a bookshelf. They didn’t have what I was looking for, but I browsed for a while anyway. They have some really cool stuff, but the name is rather misleading because it’s expensive.

After a recent effort to save money and therefore inevitable DIY mishap, I was looking for a new bedside lamp for my room. After scouring the internet, and being disappointed by Target and Crossroads selections, I was left lampless due to price or conflict with my personal style standards. Enter: Humble Abode
Years ago while attending KSU, I would visit Humble Abode (in it’s original location) to gain inspiration for my thrifting. I rarely purchased anything because that would take up too much of my beer and coffee money, but I loved going in there to escape and be surrounded by a store of ‘nice things’. So, after dealing with my lack of lamp and makeshift red christmas lights as my bedside ‘lamp’ for far too long, I decided to visit Humble Abode. But this time, I had high hopes to be able to spend some of my beer and coffee money so that I could be rid of my festive bedroom lighting.
Success! This whole store is full of affordable, high quality furniture, and is known for always having some sort of sale on. This visit was no different! I walked in to a store-​wide bedroom sale-​how convenient!-but I covered every inch of that store. Inspiration took over and I wanted every lamp over $ 200 dollars and the matching $ 800 sofas, but I resisted and managed to find a lamp that was half off! The colors were perfect, the style modern but not flashy or weird, and the lamp shade the perfect color to set off some of my more successful bedroom DIY adventures from last year.
I can’t wait for the next time I need furniture, clocks, pillows, rugs, or really any other accessory. This store is so fun to be in that it will be worth the drive from KC even if just for inspiration, but they really do have it all. I absolutely HATE that their products are not available for online order but I know that that would probably be a logistical delivery nightmare and will forgive them. But I will still hold a grudge, haha. If online orders ever can be fulfilled, that 5^th star and all of my money are yours, Humble Abode. I hope that is a challenge that will be accepted. And a sincere thank you for coming to the rescue. I can now put away my Christmas ambiance until a little closer to the appropriate season. Finally!
