When I was pregnant with my daughter I saw an advertising postcard at the 3D sonogram place with Jennifer Loomis info on it. A week later at my partner’s auction we saw that one of the items offered was a photo session with Jennifer Loomis. We decided to bid on it and got it for a reasonable price(we happened to be the only bidders). The item included a one roll photo shoot, prints not part of the deal. I suppose we should have checked on her print prices before we decided to bid on it. We just couldn’t afford the cost for her«museum quality printing» or even the cost of her digital prints($ 55 for a 5×7) was way out of our price range. Before the session took place(around our baby 6 month birthday) we got an email asking for a $ 200 deposit for the prints. We wrote back asking about the deposit since nothing had been mentioned about it on the certificate from the auction. We were told we could get our money back but were assured that there would be so many pictures we would fall in love with that we would end up using it all. The day of the session we decided that we would like for Jennifer to use a digital camera instead of film because we were not sure if we wanted our prints to be color or black and white. She was always courteous but we would have wanted more direction during the session. Partway into it she told us that she was just concentrating on the baby and that we should figure out what we wanted to do(We had told her that we would like some family photos and then photos of the baby) When we got a link to our photo gallery we were very disappointed. There was NOTONESINGLE photo of the three of us where we 3 looked good. We could only find one photo of each of us with the baby that we liked. The baby had better photos but at the price we had to go with only 4 total. After what seemed like an eternity(delayed in part because we debated for a long time whether to actually order any photos at all or just ask for a refund of our deposit) we got an email from Jennifer telling us we could go pick up our pictures. Our experience with professional photography is not very vast but I think that, as a courtesy to clients, mailing the pictures which are not framed would be nice. We were charged for shipping it to us too. We got the pictures a few days ago, 44×6’s, and they don’t even look sharp. We are past the disappointment stage and just want to move on and forget about all this. We just wished it had been different. We really wanted to immortalize this precious time in our baby’s development and we feel a bit cheated. We have nothing to say about Jennifer’s manner, she was pleasant during the photo shoot and recommended a great restaurant to us but we don’t feel that we got what we were looking for. Maybe things would have been different if we had been full paying customers.
