Marcelo’s Man and Van New York

This is the best moving company ever! I first found Fabio on Craig’s list about 5 years ago to move a bed for my daughter. We’ve since used their services about six times! They are always prompt, professional and friendly. More importantly, their estimates are always fair and the final price is exactly what is quoted. I highly recommend Fabio and his team for any move, big or small!

This moving company was absolutely amazing. I had a date to move out on but unfortunately had to move out sooner. I called and asked to change my moving date to a sooner one. And they accommodated my need. They were on time and they were friendly. They packed everything and unloaded everything. I would recommend anyone to use this company. I am so grateful to them.

BEST MOVING COMPANY IN NYC! I have now used these guys three times to move (5 if you count my mother and boyfriend using them for their respective moves). I recommend them to everyone! I researched other companies before this past move and Marcelo still had the best rates. They are so great at updating on ETA and I was completely at ease with them moving antiques and fragile items. They were so careful to make sure nothing got damaged during the move and stacked everything so nicely into storage. Marcelo truly makes moving stress-​free in NYC!

I’m giving them three stars because they were 2 hours late, on a day when I really could not afford to be late. They also claimed that it was going to cost an additional $ 20 for *each flight of stairs* which was not quoted to me in the original agreement. Luckily I have an elevator in my building.
Other than that, they did a very good job. Once they arrived (albeit late) there was no screwing around, they were very professional and quickly got all my stuff from my room to the van, drove to to new apartment, and unpacked. I didn’t have a lot of furniture, but total packing/​unpacking time was probably about 90 minutes
Proceed at your own risk, but as long as they show up on time they’ll do a good job.

Called him day before moving out (suddenly) and they fit me into their schedule. Was patient with the amount of stuff I had and helped me move into storage. Nice guys and would use them again.

I moved with them at the end of May. They did a good job. I was skeptical about how the move would go knowing all the horror stories but I was pleasantly surprised. The movers arrived on time. I was concerned that they would move slowly and stretch out the time so I asked them to please move it all as fast as possible and they did. I had everything packed and ready to go so I was able to help them load the van. They offered to drive me the fasted way to the new location and we discussed avoiding any areas of traffic congestion. Overall because I was ready and because they were willing to move quickly my entire move took less than 2 hours. They were able to load my very heavy step machine into the van which was the most challenging item. Overall I was very relieved with the move and it was a positive experience. I would not hesitate to use them again for future moves.

I found Fabio browsing through Google for «man with a van nyc.» Unfortunately, the well-​known man and a van that I was searching for quoted me $ 650 to move three boxes and a bed frame from an elevator building to a building with two flights of stairs on June 1^st. No thanks.
Though the rate was much better than any other options, I was skeptical to use Fabio because I’m just a young girl who’s never moved in New York before; finally, I narrowed it down to using him or renting a Uhaul and movers. But, I have a soft spot in my heart for small businesses, and he ended up being exactly what I needed. I ended up having to move out Sunday night instead of Monday morning like I originally scheduled for, and with three hour notice on Sunday afternoon Fabio came and picked up all my stuff (which ended up being eight boxes and four suitcases, a far cry from the 3 boxes and a bed frame I originally thought I’d have, but the rate was still amazing.) He even stored it overnight for me since I had to crash somewhere else overnight, considering my new apartment wasn’t available for me to move in until Monday morning.
He made my moving nightmare as bearable as could be. I would highly recommend Fabio and his team.

I found out I was moving to a new apartment on a Friday and had to move that Monday morning before work at 1PM. Being desperate and having no help, I went to Craig’s List. Not having much furniture, I only needed a van. Received reply right away and kept me up to date the entire weekend as to if Monday morning at 7:30AM was doable and it was. Monday morning came and they, driver and helper, were not only on time, but very nice and amazingly efficient. They packed up my 1 bdrm apartment in 15 minutes (yes 15 minutes) and made the way from Queens to the Bronx within 45 minutes.
Due to the last minute move I was on limited budget. I told Fabio I only had enough to pay them for TWO HOURS. Even with rush hour traffic they were able to get all of my belongings to my new apartment in the two hour time frame given. In addition, I moved to a forth floor walk up with NO ELEVATOR. Fabio and his helper were awesome to work with and was drenched in sweat by the end due to their hard work and having a short time to work with. You will NOT be disappointed with the service! I will use them again in a heartbeat!!! They did an excellent job.

Craigslist spammer. Was trying to find a man with van for a quick job, and used to have luck finding someone on craigslist. Now it is impossible to find someone since any search for man with van pops-​up hundreds if not thousands of ads from this guy. The ad itself is an image, so it can’t be searched (or filtered out), along with several pages copied & pasted from different books so it is more likely to show up no matter what you’re searching for.
And no, I won’t deal with spammers.

The worst movers in nyc which is really not a good thing. They canceled two hours before a very important transport of art that I needed. Told me the driver had mechanical problems in nj. Yeah right. Another job perhaps? Douchebags of the worst order.

Fuck Fabio Marcelo. He cancelled on me last minute (Friday at 3pm for a Saturday 9am move) and referred me to his «friend» (actually him again on a different number) to try and charge me a higher price.
I found the number listed and talked to «Steve» (actually Fabio Marcello) 3 weeks before my move. I emailed him a list of all the furniture to be moved at his request. We settled on $ 225 and $ 50 for insurance as I was moving into a building that required movers insurance. The flat rate should have alerted me.
The week prior to the move, I emailed him the fax number to fax the moving certificate to.
No response.
I emailed him again, «We’re on for the move on Saturday?».
No response.
Finally, at 2pm on Friday when I’m having a quick lunch to return to work, I get an email from this asshole, «Sorry, we have no movers available tomorrow». So I email back, «Does this mean I have to get new movers?» to which he replies with a recommendation for a friend, Fabio. I call Fabio, who sounds exactly the same as «Steve», and ask him for a quote. He quotes me $ 350 and magically has all the details of my addresses, furniture, and insurance requirements.
I then called my landlord to help me out and he recommends Manhattan mini movers. I call them, all the while Fabio is blowing up my phone to extort $ 350 out of me. The day before, Manhattan Mini Movers say they’ll work me in, however they can’t get insurance in a 12 hour notice. I plead my case to the building manager who has sympathy (awesome management company) and allows me to move in without insurance as an exception.
Fuck you, Fabio.

Excellent job by Fabio and team, twice now! Quick, efficient and friendly! Would recommend to a friend.

Whatever you do, DO NOT HIRE these guys.
They called me last minute before coming to pick up location telling me that they are charging me 30% more than what I’m supposed to pay. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to give in because I really need to bring home the furniture I bought to my place that same day.
When the moving guys came, the driver of the van had the audacity to give me attitude when I told him I’m upset that they are charging me more. Also, I hired 2 guys to help me, and only one did. The driver just sat in the car. I had to help carry all the furniture. I paid them thinking that I won’t be lifting anything. SO NOT WORTH IT. I was duped.
I called their office a couple of days later to complain, but Marcelo himself was rude and even had the gall to defend the unreliable driver/​mover. This is not the kind of service we deserve, folks!
There are a lot more moving companies out there. I surely made a HUGE mistake hiring these unreliable, rude and unprofessional guys.
Hire anyone, just NOT Marcelo’s Man and Van. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!

I needed to move my large furniture and heavy boxes to my new apartment one block away. Marcelo’s was the first company I called after seeing their ad on Craig’s List. I called the Friday BEFORE Easter Sunday to move by Monday, at the latest. I was pleasantly surprised and SO RELIEVED that Marcelo’s was available on Easter Sunday at 9:00 AM!!! They called to confirm the day before. On moving day, Fabio and Mike showed up on time and did a GREAT job! They were friendly, professional, careful, and efficient. Did I mention, both apartments are a three-​floor walk-​up? Phew! I’m so happy Marcelo’s was available not only on such short notice but also on a holiday! I also appreciate that the price they quoted was the price I paid. I highly recommend them!

Had to move a medium sized coffee table from Park Slope to the UES. Emailed them day-​of and immediately received a reply that they would be able to help me with the job that evening. Very professional and responsive. I would definitely use them again. Only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because the flat rate for this was $ 85, which was slightly more than I’d hoped to spend. However, it was overall worth it because they got the job done quickly and carefully.

I needed to move a small couch from a walk up building to my apt (has elevator) i called one night before the move and they not only answered the call they provided me with a quote very fast.
Just to keep you informed, this move happened 2 days after the Hurricane Sandy and the traffice was really bad and most movers charge per hour and more expensive for walk up. They provided me with a quote flat rate and also didn’t charge extra for a move for a sleep couch.
I would recommend to any friend since they have good rates and were reliable.
I got his contact when i sold something and this crazy lady (really) had one mover to pick up her stuff and they got into a fight and than she came back later with him. and i saw they were nice and reliable.
They had the best rate and they were fast too. Next time i need something moved i will contact them for sure.
