John is the real deal. I don’t have any experience with any of the other people that work here — but he is fantastic. The place is no-frills and a little sketchy looking, but the point is that John will help relieve tension/pain for a super reasonable price.

A few days ago, I was walking down Mott Street when I passed by New Health World. I noticed that they offered acupuncture and massages. I was under a lot of stress and I thought that an acunpuncture session would alleviate some of the stress. A middle age Asian woman saw me looking at the sign. I inquired about the acunpuncture and massages. She said that I should come inside so I could take a look at the place. I went down the stairs to this seedy looking basement. It looked like one of those places where they give happy endings. She said that the combined price of an acupuncture session and a massage afterwards was $ 70. I said that I only wanted acupuncture. She replied that it was $ 50 by itself. I didn’t want to pay that much money. I was about to leave when she lowered the price to $ 35. There was no way in hell I’d turn that down. The acupuncture session lasted 20 minutes. Afterwards, she gave me a massage. I told her that I didn’t want a massage since I didn’t want to pay extra. She gave me a massage anyway. However, I wasn’t charged for it. Ironically, the massage was more effective than the acupuncture(the massage by itself is listed as $ 10). Will I go back here? Absolutely. However, I didn’t appreciate their shady business practice. Haggling is common in foreign cultures– I once asked an Indian vendor in Midtown what was the price of a wool Yankees cap. He said it was $ 8. I began to walk away and he lowered the price to $ 5. Needless to say I bought it. I wonder what would happen if the Better Business Bureau found out about how they operate their business…

Don’t go here. They are frauds. Charge me $ 70 for 45m of acupuncture, then billed my insurance company for $ 700. Reported them-hope they are closed down.

Charged $ 73 dollars for 45 mins, asked for insurance info which was provided, and then filed a fraudulent claim with my insurance carrier for additional visits which were never had! I’ve reported them!

A massage here can vary from pretty poor to pretty good depending on who gives you the massage. As others have pointed out, this is not the cleanest of places and they are quite aggressive trying to pull you in from the street. Apparently turnover here is also high so when you do find a competent massuse, he/she may be gone on your next visit. Their prices are higher than Renew, Relax and Kimberly, but the quality of their massages definitely is not.

I have edited my previous review because it was sort of mean. The point of 1 star reviews of course is not to vent or embarrass anyone, but to help the business improve. tl;dr: I had an extremely unpleasant massage here. I have been here many other times and had decent massages. However, the one constant here is that the place is unhealthy, and being that flu/cold season is coming there are several things that the management should oversee: Staff should wash hands before massages, especially after handing money and feet. Staff should not work when they are obviously sick. The face cradle needs to be covered with a surface that can be cleaned, and should be cleaned after each use.

Not glitzy. Clean, legit(no happy ending), great massage, foot rub, acupuncture great price, friendly people. I’d go back. My back pain was gone afterward. I need to brush up on my Mandarin.

Not the worst, not the best. But more than satisfactory to ease the foot stress of a tourist walking all day. The only thing I missed in my many other Chinese foot massages is the pre-soak of my feet in piping hot water before the massage begins. The massage had the intended effect at midday so that I could venture out walking another 3 – 4 hours. They only take cash.

The massage was good but the employees were very unprofessional. The employees were making conversations with each other across different rooms while giving you massage. Also, after the full body massages with my friend, the two masseurs DEMANDED and asked for 20% tip. I always give tips after massages but I never encountered anyone demanding a fixed amount of tips. This is very unprofessional.

Horrendous! Abysmal! I even disgusted myself for giving it 1 star when it should have a ZERO star! I know what a massage should be like and how it should be done and I tell ya this — that ain’t no massage! These people are extremely pushy and very aggressive to usher you in for massage. Like David B. above, I walked in by mistake because I thought it was Health Town Inc. which is just a couple stores away. The fact that it looks like and sounds like Health Town Inc(a real deal massage place) is a clear tattletale sign that this place is a blatant scam. Foot Massage is usually and typically done by a male masseur but when I went in, all foot masseurs were women and just one man. My gf and I had female foot masseurs. I observed them and that guy actually did the real massage but rest of them were a sham. My gf and I were insulted by their lazy lame massages. It wasn’t even massage! It was more like rub here & there and pressing here n’ there. I don’t think they’re actually real masseurs. Looks like they were just trying to reap in extra bucks at the last hour so that they can go play some late night mahjong gambling. Their sign says $ 25 for 1 hr and they charged us $ 20 for 30 minutes? major wtf.

Wow, these people are really pushy! If you even look in their direction they will sweep you into there store for a massage. I had the back massage and the foot rub. I was really looking forward to the foot rub but it was just ok. The back massage was actually a lot better. My uncle who has back problems actually said that after a back massage here, his pain was gone the next day. The prices are reasonable and the staff was pretty friendly. My daughter was begging for a foot rub and I told her no, the women that did my back massage and foot rub gave her a 5 minute foot rub for free. I thought that was really nice!

I think I found my new massage place. I paid $ 20 for 23 minutes. I sat on the chair, which is better than lying down. I feel like I get a more thorough massage while sitting. Anyway, I woke up today with neck pain. I guess that’s what happens when you get a desk job. I would normally go for acupuncture but all the ones that got good reviews and were affordable were booked. So I’m glad I stumbled upon this place.

I came here by accident, thinking it was New Health Town(a couple of doors down), but I knew Dr. Lucy here from previous therapy so it was fine. For my tendinitis, I got cupping, acupuncture with heat treatment, localized massage, and an additional hour of massage, for $ 100. The price for the quality is a bargain, to put it mildly. My tendinitis was improved greatly, and the massage was excellent. I ended up spending an extra $ 20 for some foot reflexology on top of the excellent massage, and I left feeling like a new man.

I’ve been here a couple of times for a back rub after ultimate frisbee. They speak minimal english but the prices speak for themselves. Even with their limited english, if you’re loitering outside, they’ll try hard to bring you in. Understandably, the place is always pretty empty and they seem desperate for customers. Nonetheless, its like 30 minutes for 25 dollars, or 20 minutes for 20 dollars or something like that. The service they provide is pretty good. I’ve had both a guy and a girl masseuse and the guy will go to town on you. I felt like he was going to break my scapula but some people like it rough. 30 minutes gets you the backroom and its nothing fancy, just a longer more thorough massage. If you get less than 30 min, you are in this chair with your face planted in a pillow. I usually get the chair because I don’t need that long of a therapy. My friend didn’t have the best experience as he almost choked when the girl came down on his spine with an elbow but that’s his problem. I come here for the unbeatable price. I guess there are numerous other ones in Chinatown but I just got comfortable going to this gig.
