Vendôme Macaron

The macarons are light, fluffy, perfect little puffs of scented air. I’m no connoisseur, but I’ve had a variety of macarons in New York and DC, and these are the best.

The most pillow-​y bites of heaven in all different colors! First found them through Smorgasburg and later at Saks. They’re not as accessible as other macaron places and I wonder why. They do serve a lot of the high end luxury brand opening parties hmmmm. Their packaging may not be as fancy as Laduree’s, but I’d rather have tastier bite size happiness than spend more on cardboard or *gasp* wax paper bag if you order less than 6 at said French pastry house.

I echo what Todd C. said. These are hands-​down better than Laduree. I know I always proclaim to everyone that Le Moulin a Café are the best, but I tell you what, I think they’ve met their match. Just visited the pop up store in Brooklyn and I am amazed at the flavor and texture. Pistachio and strawberry champagne were my favorites.

I have been a huge fan since its Cours la Reine days– by far the best macarons in the Big Apple (And I personally like them better than Laduree). I strongly recommend the strawberry, hazelnut, and the cassis is a staple. (^o^)

Why didn’t I know that I could get a macaron-​sugar fix inside Saks Fifth Avenue? This will only fuel further spending, which might be their logic. Regardless, I was thrilled to grab a pick-​me-​up while out and about with my fiancé, but thankfully it was on our way out after shopping that I grabbed a small box with an assortment of flavors:
Dark Chocolate: crisp shell, chewy, gooey brownie like inside, delish, perfect for chocolate lovers
Peanut Butter Cup: same crisp shell, creamy peanut butter filling
Champagne & Strawberries: very, very sweet macaron with a crisp but light strawberry flavor
Limoncello: bright, tart lemon flavor with a crisp shell and chewy interior
Apple Pie: the macaron quality was fine, but I didn’t get much of a distinct apple pie flavor, it was just sweet
The quality of the macarons is good — crisp cookie shells, chewy interior with creamy fillings — but the flavors can be a little hit or miss, the apple pie was unrecognizable and the champagne and strawberries was disappointingly light in flavor and hard to place at first because its just so SWEET. The prices weren’t bad, and these macarons are slightly on the larger size for what you can purchase in NYC. If I need another sugar jolt while shopping at Saks or in the area, I know where to go now!

Vendôme Macarons, sold at Saks Fifth Avenue and at the Brooklyn Winter Flea Market has a tasty pistachio macaron. However, I would not recommend tasting the strawberry and champagne one since it tasted almost the cough syrup you had when you were a kid.

Inventive macarons. They’re on the softer and puffier side. Like limoncello, pistachio, and strawberry w chocolate ganache a lot but not a big fan of the peanut butter or strawberry w champagne. Price is right on: 2.50 per or box of 6 for 14. They’re at smorgasborg on Saturdays.
