When I came to Luke here, my flute was barely playing. The change of season exposed so many leaks and issues. Luke really put in the works and when a few weeks later my flute stopped working, I brought it in to him again and he spent over an hour on it, replacing pads, fixing it up and then gave it back to me no charge. Needless to say, he certainly won over my business.

Honestly I was a little skeptical reading these amazing reviews — how could they be that good? Well, the reviews are on point. I visited the Queens location and Jeff is professional, skilled, honest, and down to earth. I’m a pianist and my friend recently sold me her old flute. There was a sticky note so I brought it to Jeff but I learned so much in the time he was fixing it! Definitely more than reasonable with his prices. I’d recommend him to anyone and everyone.

Jeff Weissman is a master flute technician that has taught me that every flute that comes off my bench must be perfect.” Anyone can get 90% but only a few technicians can get 100%” — Jeff Weissman. He has truly raised my standard of excellence.

I play sax, clarinets, and flutes, and have been ready to buy a «real» piccolo for a while. I have a $ 300 silver picc that doesn’t sound too bad all things considered, but I’ve hankerning for the warmer sound of a wooden piccolo. Buying a piccolo from Jeff Weissman was the greatest experience — he really knows the whole business of flutes, and as we played and compared he never stopped telling stories about instruments, music people and sounds. I’ve never met anyone who knows so much about the mechanical aspects of flutes & piccolos; he really loves to meet people and talk about any detail of flute anatomy. Halfway through our session I found a really sweet Resona, but Jeff wanted me to stay in the shop longer and try more instruments. He set up lots of different combinations of head joints and bodies to play, ranging in price from low to high. You can not find a better flute man that J. B. Weissman — I recommend him without hesitation!

I got a Weissman piccolo when I was 17(so I’ve had it for quite a while…) and after moving to NY, I was glad to be able to have the man who made my instrument work on it without having to ship it. I recently went to this location for a C.O.A. along with a couple extra adjustments. Luke did the majority of the work, along with some more custom work by Mr. Weissman. Luke was very friendly and helpful, and I got my instrument back faster than I got my flute back for a COA in the past with someone else. I’m very glad to have my piccolo back and playing so much better than before. I’ve met Jeff briefly a couple times, and he is very friendly as well, and has been doing this for a long time, and doing it well. I am very glad they have this new location because it takes a while to get to their homebase in Queens if you don’t have a car and have to rely on the MTA to get there. One of these days I’ll have enough money saved up to buy a new flute, and will look to the team here to help me select the right one. Next time either of my instruments needs work, I will definitely be giving Weissman Music a call. You should too.

I’ve been buying various kinds of musical instruments since as far back as I can remember(25 years+ now) and I’ve noticed three things that really set Jeff Weissman apart from other retailers/instrument technicians: First and foremost is his level of commitment to customer service. I have seen him personally drive to pick clients up at the airport, work through the night to get emergency repairs done for clients, pick up lunch for people while at the shop, and even personally fly flutes to people just to try! I am new to the flute. I play the Trumpet professionally and work with Luke, the lead technician, in a couple bands. I just got my first ever flute from Jeff and I can say that I wish I could ever experience a fraction of the customer service while buying a trumpet that I see from these guys on a daily basis. It’s truly beyond anything I’ve ever seen. The second thing is quality work: As far as pro flutes go Jeff is the most knowledgable person in the business and his repair work reflects his decades of experience. There’s a reason why Hubert Laws, and countless other professionals in New York and around the country have worked exclusively with Jeff Weissman throughout the years. And finally I have to mention his inventory. Buying a new instrument can be a major investment and having the ability to not be rushed while you sample any and every instrument you’ve ever imagined is an extremely valuable experience. Again, I’ve never seen that anywhere else, and the places I have seen with respectable inventories seem to want you out the door as quickly as possible. Not Jeff. I am also a school teacher and happily recommend Weissman to all of my students who play or are thinking about playing the Flute, and their teachers! If you’re looking for the real deal and a relationship that will last far beyond the purchase of your flute, give these guys a shot. You will be happy you did. –Rich Graiko

I had one of the best shopping experiences in my life buying from Weissman Music. I am an adult amateur flute player from Atlanta, GA. The local music store, Carere Music, had a show that featured Weissman Music. Jeff Weissman brought a huge selection of flutes and piccolos to Atlanta for us to try. I just recently began playing piccolo in a local wind ensemble here in Atlanta. I had a very old Gemeinhardt 4P piccolo that had seen better days. I had use of the schools piccolo, but I was not happy with the sound or intonation. Also, because I travel for a living, I was not comfortable bringing the schools piccolo on the road with me to practice. I decided that I needed a better piccolo. I arrived at the flute show and Mr. Weissman greeted me warmly. We talked for a few minutes and discussed my playing style, frequency, ability and how much I was willing to spend. I had set my price at a rock bottom low. I was not really willing to spend a lot of money on a piccolo because I consider myself a hobbyist. He handed me a piccolo off the table and had me go to a room to try it. It was a very good piccolo, but it wasn’t the best I had played. I went out and spoke with him. He suggested that I try some of his head joints. Mr. Weissman makes custom piccolo head joints and there is a huge selection to try. I took a few of them back to the room and… I found one that BLEWMEAWAY! The piccolo was amazing. The best I had ever played. WOW! But, I am a hard sell. I was not certain that it was THE piccolo. He had some piccolos that were older that he had made and some brand new ones. He also had some top end piccolos from other famous flute and piccolo makers. I played most of the piccolos he brought with him. Most of the piccolos were much more expensive than what I had planned on spending but I didn’t care. I wanted to make sure I was happy with the piccolo before I bought it. I didn’t like the head joint that came with the piccolo and Mr. Weissman bought the original head joint from me and let me buy the custom head joint instead. I don’t know of any place that would do this. The trill keys were not adjusted properly on the piccolo. Jeff Weissman took the piccolo back to NYC with him to set up the piccolo and do some minor adjustments to make it play like a dream. His shipping charges were very, very reasonable. He was going to ship it overnight but I told him to ship it 3 day because I would be out of town for work. We have all seen the videos of the shipping companies and how some of them mishandle packages. When I got the piccolo, it would not play because a spring had come loose. I sent them an email and got an immediate response. Mr. Weissman was out to dinner and dropped everything to call me to resolve my problem. I can do simple repairs, but I didn’t want to do anything to this piccolo to void the warranty. He told me he was terribly sorry that this happened. I know things happen during shipping and I am sure it was not his fault. He gave me permission to fiddle with the piccolo and gave instruction too. I am so happy with this piccolo. I have had it about a week now. It is amazing and sounds beautiful. My shopping experience with Mr. Weissman was first rate. Leila, who works in the shop, was also very helpful. She answered my emails promptly. I look forward to doing business with Jeff and Leila again. They are both outstanding professionals who understand a musicians needs. If you are shopping for a flute or piccolo, I would highly recommend giving them a try. When I buy my next instrument, I will be making a trip to New York City to visit their shop.

As a professional flute player, I’m only as good as my tools — or my flute! When my flute has a problem, they only place I go and trust with my flutes is Jeff Weissman Music. They are out and out pros. They make, sell, repair flutes and are just fantastic people to do business with. In my opinion, the best place in New York. I couldn’t give them a better recommendation.
