Excellent place to eat! I love the Korean Tacos. They have a variety of different types of food on their menu. My husband and I have been there many times. There is a little wait for the food, but it’s worth it. They have a great selection of beer also

Ryans has a great new spin on casual dining. Make sure you look at the specials board.

Pretty good small restaurant. Prices can’t be beat — seriously cheaper than McDonald’s but obviously better quality and always nice to support a local business. Grilled cheese was pretty bland but fries were great. Friendly service.

Yummmm. One of my new local faves. There hasn’t been anything I haven’t liked yet and I’ve tried different things each time I’ve been there. Four star rating for two reasons: 1) Slower service and 2) Blah fries. I don’t mind the wait for the food but each time I’ve been there I feel like it takes longer and longer to get waitstaff to take my order. The fries could be crispier and seasoned a bit more and they’d be much better. Overall great place. Ryan is super friendly and has a great thing going there!

Love this new place in Manty! Great spot for lunch or late night drinks. Get the frickles. Burgers are also awesome! Very diverse menu with Korean and asian-inspired dishes as well as some really well-done classics like grilled cheese. Really cool spot!

Service: Service is great here-very attentive and professional. Sometimes even a conversation is initiated. The owner Ryan is great. Atmosphere: Clean bar, clean tables, clean bathrooms, clean appearance. Very minimalist in decorations which is nice. Drinks: My girlfriend and I ordered the bloody mary. Not a lot of flavor and kind of just tasted like tomato juice. I kept asking for more spice and finally they just gave me the tabasco bottle. Food: Meh. Nothing I’d come back for. I ordered the shrimp po boy and I have to say, not a lot of flavor or texture. Very plain– I was hoping for something a bit more elegant than a white hot dog bun-maybe something from a local bakery? My girl friend that was visiting ordered the fried green tomatoes to split and they tasted of grease. I don’t think they drained them after removing them from the deep fryer? She ordered the soft shell crab sandwich, without the bread(lo carb diet or something). They had kept the hepatopancreas of the crab inside(the yellow goo) which is something some people consider a delicacy, others consider it gross. My friend considered it gross and barely ate any of her meal. Not a place I’d recommend or come back to any time soon.

We were in town over the weekend and had heard good things about this place, so stopped in around noon for lunch. I would say the place was somewhat busy with most of the tables filled, but not all, so we were able to find a seat right away. But from the time we sat down until the food was served was an 1:20 minute wait as there were only two people working at the time, the cook and the bar tender/server. For this reason I downgraded the review by one star. But on a high note, the food was FANTASTIC! One of the best burgers we all have had in a long time and great Parmesan garlic fries. Would love to go back again to try some of the other items on the menu, but would only hope the wait wouldn’t be so long.

Finally got a chance to check this place out. I liked the atmosphere and the updated look to the bar area. They have old time board games available to play at your table, which I thought was a cool idea. Someone told me the service was slow, but we had no problems with our service. In fact our waitress was new, but did a great job! Although there were some interesting choices on the menu, my wife and I both decided to try their gyro(mainly because there really isn’t anywhere around to get a good one). Unfortunately this gyro was just okay. The pita was excellent, and the meat portion was generous. The problem we both had was with the sauce. It just didn’t taste like real cucumber sauce. I am looking forward to trying something different the next time. I will be back.

My favorite pub eatery in Manitowoc! They have an eclectic menu that you shouldn’t pass up unless you are looking for the same old burger/fry place. The staff is courteous and very inviting, I have never had a bad service.

I stopped by a few weeks ago to catch up with a friend over a late lunch. The food was absolutely amazing, I had one of the specials for the day I believe it had Jamaican chicken, but so could be wrong, and some amazing parmesan fries! The have an amazing selection of food and drinks and the staff was incredibly friendly, can’t wait to go back

This was our first time at Ryan’s on York. I Stopped in on New Years Eve around noon with my wife. I was surprised that it’s more a bar than a restaurant, I was under the impression it was a small restaurant that had a bar, instead it’s a bar that serves food. So seating is a bit limited. The menu was good and had some unique choices. I had a hard time deciding because everything sounded good. In the end I went with the Blue Cheese burger and my wife with the Korean Tacos. Service was fast and friendly, the menu prices were about average for what you expect for food that doesn’t come overly processed. About $ 8-$ 10 per item, so nothing overly expensive. My burger was very good, it came on bread that was toasted in a panini press, the blue cheese… was blue cheese. But the zinger was the remoulede sauce. It was beautifully spicy without being overpowering to the bacon, beef, and cheese. The meat had a good crust on it without being charred. My wife really liked the Korean Tacos, but admits the portion size there was on the smaller side. But that was just fine since the dish was flavorful and appears to not be made with pre packaged ingredients. This is FAR and away better than Mcdonalds in both taste and quality, so I’m not sure how someone else even made that comparison. But maybe the cook on that day was a bit off or new. The beer list is always important to me. Even though I couldn’t drink because I’m recovering from an injury and on medication for the pain, they had solid choices. They had Left Hand Milk Stout, some beer from 3 Sheeps, New Glarus, and Sprecher on tap. If I remember correctly one was being served on nitro as well. The only thing I was not impressed with were the fries(hence 4 stars instead of 5). The were a bit on soft side and a bit cool for me, I would have preferred hot and crispy fries. But I imagine they do them in batches and we received the tail end. As far as Manitowoc’s restaurants go, this would be my top suggestion for good bar food. We are very unhappy with the food offerings in this area and often travel to find good gastro-pub type of fair. I know for sure we will be going back, if that means anything. It’s not necessarily a kid friendly type of joint, so for us it probably more take out than eating in except on those rare occasions when the kids are away.

I was excited that a new place opened up in town with a more expanded menu than most of the normal menu’s in town.(Burger, Burger, chicken, and patty melt) First impression upon walking in cozy, more of a local bar cozy than a restaurant. After 5 min or so flagged down a waitress to get a table. Was told it is first come first serve for open seats.(No reservation or such) Looked around and there are only 6 – 8 tables in the place.(All were full, as were all the seats at the bar, so 40 – 50 total chairs) It took us 30 minutes to finally locate 2 open seats. Then we got menus and ordered within 10 minutes. This should be an easy order Korean Tacos and a Pad Thai, 60 minutes later we asked the staff and they said just a few more minutes. So we changed it to a to go order got it about 10 minutes later(note we had been there now for nearly 2 hours, we just went there for dinner, on a weekday even) I read other reviews and yes the portion sizes are smaller than most of the other local places, by about 50% and cost about 50% more. That would be fine with me, if they had more quality than a McDonald’s meal, which they didn’t. The best description I can come up with is blah, like they did not use any spices. I would say if you have a «Chicago/World» palette, this place will let you down. If you have a local palette it will be different and probably great. This last comment is not to be mean or rude, just after living in the area for only 10 years, I have meet many locals who would not try many of the«exotic»(=other than a burger) dishes on the menu. Ryan’s will attract the 30−40% who are more adventurous eaters. After being there over an hour and having time to look around. I think they are confused about being a bar or a restaurant. If they removed the 4 – 6 video poker games, the dart board and the pool table(pool table: which when the bar is full would be hard to use because of the people around it looking for a place to sit.) They could fit in up to another 10 tables or so. But then meals would also need to come out of the closet sized kitchen much faster or the wait could be twice as long. This place is in my backyard, so I will go back in the next 6 months to give it another chance.

The food is truly very good. Definitely not the typical fare you’ll find in every other Manitowoc bar. Unique and tasty dishes that will appeal only to those who value quality over quantity. Outstanding value. However, it is a bar, which means you’ll likely have your meal at the bar(since there are very few tables and there can be many people milling about trying to grab one). Expect a very long wait for your food, so come prepared to sit and enjoy your drink(s). I think they have a small kitchen. Manitowoc locals will likely consider the portions small(please keep them that way).

We read all the reviews before going to Ryan’s on York for the first time. The service was fast and friendly. We went at 11:00 Am and soon after arriving all the tables filled up fast. Now about our food, in one word«GREAT»! My wife had the ribs and parmesan and garlic fries and she said it was very good. I had the Cuban and Cajun fries, both were very tasty. We will be back to try other menu items.

A nice surprise on our way back from the PGA championship. It’s a few miles off the freeway but worth the effort. What looks from the outside to be a regular Wisconsin bar is in fact a fantastic restaurant with offerings ranging from bahn mi to soft shell crab to a steak sandwich. Highly recommended.

Came here after a few people suggested it. Menu looked pretty good but this place was understaffed. Got orders wrong and bartender didn’t know how to refund us for something he wasn’t suppose to charge is for. Disappointing for such a great idea.

I brought my wife and parents out to this establishment. Each of us were very excited over the different Menu options. We all decided to taste something different. I ended up with the Blue Bayou burger, my wife got the Gyro, Mother had the Cajun, and father had the gyro as well.(We also all had the garlic parm fries). We all ended up trying a little bit of each dish and it was amazing. I have recommended this place to so many people over the last 5 days due to how great the food was. This is our new date night location, and honestly a good atmosphere. I urge you to not be dismayed by the negative reviews below. All restaurants that start up have growing pains, and by the time I made it there our service was great and food even better. I will be urging friends and family to eat and review this location so it gets the recognition it deserves. –Ken–

What a horrible disappointment. The menu is filled with delicious sounding options, but the service was horrible and the food was not good. It took close to an hour before we were served. Part of my order was forgotten. I had a soft shell crab sandwich that tasted like a deep-fried salt block. My husband’s French fries looked like they had been reheated and were too salty to eat.

I heard about this place from my hair stylist. I had lunch there with two friends. We shared some garlic fries, which were good right out of the kitchen, but got soggy fast. They had good flavor and were homemade. We all had burgers. I requested medium rare and it came out well done. It still had good flavor and my dining companions enjoyed their burgers as well. The restaurant is super clean inside. Don’t let the outside throw you off. They don’t have a ton of signage and it’s a bit off the Main Street. I have been going to the salon next door for over 5 years and it’s an Aveda Salon, so this isn’t a rough neighborhood. It’s small inside, so big groups will be a problem, but the unique menu options will absolutely have me coming back.

This new pub has proven Manitowoc still has taste. The authentic tastes they are striving for are worthy. Will come back often and hopefully order the awesome sandwiches to go when the carving hits. They got that on the mark, in my book. Awesome and attentive service…
