Oh how I wish I could give this restaurant more than 1 star. We drove through a snow storm just to try out their pizza on «Pizza Day» only to find them closed for renovations until 2⁄14. Such a disappointment! Had their website said they were closed or had Unilocal said they were closed we would not have make this long of a drive in this weather.

Walked into a warm and comforting environment and enjoyed every aspect of this bar/restaurant. It would take too long to go over every cool aspect of the décor so just go in have a beer(tasty ones) and look around for yourself. The level of professionalism displayed by every staff member was refreshing, noted and appreciated. The pizza is fantastic. I can’t wait to go back and try more items.

Pizza last night with my brother Paul. Relaxes atmosphere, very good selection of beer, fantastic bread sticks with their homemade mustard, and excellent pizza. Their pizza menu has an interesting selection or you can build your own. The Lasagna Pizza was excellent! I tried Paul’s it was excellent too but I forget the name.

Yaaaaasss!!! Absolutely delicious wood fired pizza! It was our first time here after searching for a good pizza joint in CNY I think our search has ended!!! They offer a great craft beer selection; with a nice bar area to sit and enjoy your beverage. We ordered a caprese salad and a romaine salad. The caprese was enjoyable– I like how it was quite traditional. The Romaine salad had an interesting dressing which some may need an acquired taste– couldn’t really pinpoint what it was. We shared a margherita pie which is only a 12″ and in most places would be considered a personal pie. The way the wood just fires up the dough is just so unique and adds so much flavor! Service was friendly and the restaurant was clean and most importantly the the food was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be back!

I always drive past this place on my way to work. The outside patio and classic bikes always draw my attention. That being said, it quickly became on my list of places to eat. I kept telling my one friend, that has a bike himself, to come with me one night, but ended up going with family that was in town. The look of the restaurant inside was as cool and eclectic as the outside. I’m a server/bartender at local craft brewery, so them having a good draft section was a respect plus. The menu was small, but their focus is pizza and their pizza’s were great. If you are a fan of brick oven hand tossed New York style pizza, you should put IronWood on your dining out list too. The family and I got a margarita and veggie pie. We also got bruschetta as an app, very fresh, and delicious gelato as dessert. So many favors to choose from. What I thought was cool, but needs a little tweaking is the iPod POS system. It’s cool that the servers have the ordering system at their finger tips throughout the restaurant, very modern, and eliminating a computer terminal gives the restaurant more space. However, I caught a server stopping in the middle of the floor to use the iPod to do what she had to on it. Now I understood and was fully aware of what she was doing, but an older guest didn’t and scowled. I assume she thought that server was texting on her phone or something. My suggestion would be to still have I designated area to punch in orders. A must stop or try. Great visual feel. Worth the drive to Manilus.

Great wood-fired pizza after a nice Caprese salad – the mozz is really good! Couple that with a friendly, professional staff and it’s a can’t miss!

This place has great atmosphere but just ok pizza. The patio section is nice and the location is great, located in the village of Manlius. However, the pizza crust is shockingly flavorless. A lot of people love this place and it has a lot of local buzz and they do have a stellar beer list… but if your looking for the ultimate pie – it’s not here. Also the fact that you can’t get takeout is a HUGE bummer.

Great beer selection. Really nice pizzas. You can expect a wait to be seated and the servers seem to always have issues navigating their iPads. But it is good food and beer.

Continually great pies! The place is outstanding and ownership is always around to ensure a great experience. Can’t go wrong with bacon ranch chicken special or a simple cheese pizza. Well done is good too.

I noticed this place driving by one night and said I need to check it out and since it had outdoor seating there is a chance they can be dog friendly. So the other night I called and asked if the outdoor seating was pet friendly, now I will be the first one to say I’m a wise ass and I like to have fun people, so when I was asked what kind of dog I have my reply was, «a talking dog» it takes a few seconds for the person on the other end to catch on and it always get a chuckle. It’s been many years since I have been in the CNY are, I did go to Cornell so I get to the country laid back thing, its all good considering I consider myself a hippie with who shops at Barney’s. Now that being said pleas explain to me why I waited 25 minutes for a bloody table. When I walked up there was a two top open outside, as soon as I walked in there was another two top open, then I noticed a high table with four chairs completely empty. The bar was full so there was no where to sit, and if yo been there the entrance is pretty tight so I was standing in front entrance like a wooden indian. Finally after being seated outside at the two top I mentioned earlier I ordered there romaine salad with roasted red peppers and cherry tomatoes with mozzarella cheese and grated cheese in some kind vinaigrette. The only sign of the vinaigrette was couple drops of olive oil on the rim of the bowl. I ordered it because it was the closest thing to a Caesar Salad. I then ordered a simple pizza that was huge. Unless your going to the chair after you eat this be prepared to bring it home. The pizza had good flavor could have used a little more pizazz but that strictly on me. The waitress was great, she attentive and funny and just a good person in all. I will be back because of the fact they do like dogs and my dog would fit right in with the laid back country attitude.

Apps are less than great. Pizza crust awesome. Beer selection usually very good. They need to extend hours too. Seems like staff is put out sometimes by late arrivals.

My party of 6 thought the pizza was okay to pretty good, but nothing to really be willing to wait to be seated for. So, strictly rating the food I would give it 3 stars, but I’m only giving an overall 2 stars due to the seating. The table had seating that was like a park bench. If the person next to you moved, you moved too. The entire restaurant feels a bit too tight to be comfortable. Wait time for food was a little too long and the prices are on the high side for what you get. I have no desire to go again. Another thing that bothers me about this place is the outdoor eating area. Too crowded with tables, too close to the street and sidewalk, and it’s just ugly. 2×4’s and mounted license plates is just trashy. I guess the owners think it looks urban chic, but it is just an eyesore in the village.

I really enjoyed their pizza! Monday is create your own pizza special night, where you can create your own with three toppings and a choice of sauce for $ 10. I ordered a pizza with regular tomato sauce, mushrooms, spinach, and roasted red peppers. I thought this was quite good! My family also ordered their own pizza and we all thought they were worth going there! That being said definitely come on Monday if you want to do the create your own!

Great service, really awesome atmosphere, GREAT beer, and GREAT pizza. We came in about 30 minutes before closing on a Wednesday night, but they were very willing to serve us food still. Can’t really get better then that! Tried a Belgian Tripel on tap that was quite delicious, along with a spinach, bacon, and pepperoni pizza that was perfectly cooked for a «gourmet» style pizza. Definitely would recommend for a chill night out!

Awesome atmosphere I love the inside of this place. Feels like an urban setting in a suburban location. Outside seating! This visit I only ordered a pizza. It was my first visit. The crust was my favorite part. I think I made a mistake by ordering the vegetopia because all the water that got cooked out of the veggies on that wonderful brick oven made the pizza incredibly soggy and difficult to eat-I mostly ate the crust. I didn’t care much for the flavor of the pizza either. I think that is a personal preference. I almost felt like there were too many veggies on it that clashed. However to do realize that this seems to be a permanent favorite on the menu so again personal preference here. The size of the pizza is awesome little bigger than your typical personal pizza so there is a chance you’ll have some for tomorrow. I look forward to going back and trying a pizza with less veggies on it because I believe it would be less soggy! Thanks

Not enough stars! Looking for that little small place to go? You found it! Nothing fancy to look out. However, the pizza and food will win you over and keep you coming back. We just moved here. It is a small restaurant. Great wine and beer. The pizza is to die for. Thin crust. FRESH! Save room for dessert. Staff is wonderful! Manlius at it’s best

We visited Ironwood on a Friday night — it was a bit busy when we got there so waited at the bar for about a ½ hr. Nice selection of beers on tap so I tried the Smoked Porter Chipotle. A taste was good but it was a little too much smoke and chili for a full glass. We started with the mozzarella pinwheel that was very tasty. From there we had the Mitigan pizza. I thought it was pretty good but my husband was disappointed that there was not a bit more sauce. Not the best wood-fired I’ve had but certainly tasty enough. We finished with gelato which was quite good. I had a combo of banana and chocolate. I’d go back but probably not make a special trip to get there.

Ironwood is a great place to go if you have already eaten dinner berforehand. We ordered the Fire Roasted Chicken($ 15), the Mitigan($ 14), and a Create Your Own with Pepporoni($ 13.50). The Chicken was the biggest disappointment– barely a few slivers of chicken on each slice and a very bland«flavor.» The other two pizzas were tasty– not the best wood fired any of us ever had(there were 5 of us total), but much more palatable than the Chicken. We also ordered the Spinach and Field Greens Salads. They both had a lot of flavor but fell victim to the same issues as the pizza– underwhelmingly small portion sizes. The beer selection was small with some nice surprises and the bartender was the best part of our service experience. Walked away minimally satisfied and with over $ 100 gone from our pockets– would come here again for drinks before going across the street for a more substantial meal at a less inflated price.

This is my first 5 start review of a sit down restaurant, taking an entire experience into consideration. The first place I felt really deserved it. Iron wood knows there’s strengths and that’s pizza. We had the roasted chicken pizza, the American pizza and a basic pizza with bacon. Every one was excellent, but the chicken pizza was my favorite. It was actually better than the last pizza I had in NYC last month. I really appreciate that they keep things simple, a one page menu. A nice beer list. Adequate but trendy décor. This place is definitely a gem! They do not serve chicken wings, but I didn’t miss them one bit. But! If and when they decided to put them on their menu in the future I’m sure they will be perfect!

Steeping in to try a pizza, and it was quite a good one. The menu will seem either simple and clean or sparsely populated, depending on your style. But good food is to be had here if you like pizza, apps, or gelato. -=- Music update!
