Felt like I had stepped into the halls of Rydell High on the Grease movie set — that is to say, the decorations inside this 1950’s-style diner were charming and believable. Located on Main Street in downtown Mansfield, this restaurant and its colorful awning draw the eye, and eventually the stomach, in. I had a fried bologna sandwich, my first ever. The meat was cut a little too thick, which was off-putting to me, but I think it’s more of a product of my not being a bologna fan than a problem with the restaurant. My friend had fried fish, which they said came from Lake Erie, so we liked that some of their ingredients are sourced/caught locally. Everything was a bit greasy(fries, fish, sandwich buns) but it is a diner after all. Kitschy, fun, and classic diner fare make for a great date or family outing.

The Coney Island Diner has been a fixture in Mansfield since 1936. Naturally it had a nostalgic feel which increases the charm of the place. Very nice and attentive wait staff. Ordered the blue plate special of a coney dog with their famous pea salad. Very pleased with both selections! They also have a great cup of coffee. They also offer Hershey’s Ice Cream and we had to grab s couple of sundaes. Did we mention clean bathrooms??? This place is a winner and we wish we had one back home in Dayton.

If you’re in down town Mansfield in the carousel district check out this cool old school diner called Coney Island. Parking is on the street, on a one way, I’m not sure if there’s any other places to park besides that. They serve ice cream, coney dogs, fries, shakes, root beers in the glass bottle etc. typical diner items. We had two coney dogs, an order of fries, and a root beer to split and it was about $ 7, not bad. The coney sauce tasted good, comes with onions on top too. Fries were okay! You dont get very many for $ 2 to be honest. Root beer is IBC in the glass bottle. Waitress was very nice, we forgot my wallet in the car and she trusted me to leave and go get it which was cool. Food didnt take long at all to get to the table. Recommend if you’re in the area for lunch, checking out the carousel it’s in walking distance

Owner is rude when I complained about waiting 45 minutes on breakfast food. Not that busy but the owner laughed when I complained about the service! Haven’t been back for several years and we used to be regulars…

The Coney Island Diner is a great nostalgic stop with an inviting atmosphere. The menu has a wide variety of breakfast and lunchtime options at reasonable prices. Wait staff are friendly and do an excellent job. The food is very good and served quickly in this classic downtown diner. Take some time to check out the local historical pictures and memorabilia.

I eat here more often than I’d like to admit, but it’s because I love this place. It’s not fake kitch, it’s local history. Oh, and good food alongside service with a smile. Can’t beat it!

Best Ruben, EVER! And, the pea salad was a pleasant surprise. Plus, they have cherry Coke. Nom. Nom. Nom.

Some memories are best left undisturbed. Came back for nostalgia and left lesser. Clean, well lit, filled with bits of history the food and how it was presented outweighed all. Unremarkable boiled wieners at the core of their Coney Island topped with bland chili. The French fries were warm. All served sans plate! Not again, any time soon.

Friendly people, quick service and fun, old time atmosphere, but honestly the coneys were just«meh.» Very little contrast in texture, the dogs them selves were not very substantial and have little flavor. It was cheap though. Anyways, nothing like Skyline, but an OK place to stop for lunch in downtown Mansfield.

Coney Island Diner reminds me of what a diner is supposed to be like. It has the old signs, and diner feel of days past. The chili dogs are yummy, and I was tempted to get dessert but too full from all the awesome food that we ordered. The price is right, nostalgia is high, and the food is yummy and filling. Next time dessert may be my meal!

This is a throw back, old school diner and ice cream counter. The prices are dirt cheap, the food is damn good, no frills burgers and fries type place. We got the single bacon cheeseburger and fries. Portions are huge. Burger was yummy. Cute place. Total 50’s diner feel. Attentive, friendly staff, lightning fast service. A nice side trip off a boring highway!

I wish I could give 0 stars. This grease hole probably is the only place capable of getting negative stars. T The worst food ever, extremely expensive for junk! This place is AWFUL!!! Don’t waste your money. I brought my kids and their friends to get a «world famous» coney as they advertise. Get this… they microwave the dogs and chili out of a can. Never again. Also, the cook looks like she just got out of the slammer and she would make a trucker blush with her awful language fully aware my kids were 5′ from her. If I wasn’t afraid of getting stabbed I would have said something to her. I can not believe how filthy dirty this place is. It’s sickening.

Love the coneys! The price is fair and you get a lot of food. I like going there whenever I’m in downtown Mansfield.

Great place for lunch. The staff is friendly, it’s very clean, and the food is good. I’m a big fan of their cole slaw — a real bowl full instead of a tiny paper cup. Good milkshakes.

Coney Island Diner is always on my Ohio list when I come back home. The place is nice, the people are nice, the food is cheap and filling. Coney dogs, meatloaf sandwiches, fried bologna… then there’s the hard dipped ice cream selections, cakes and pies… If you want something fancy or can’t eat what 99% of America eat then by all means find a more expensive, upscale establishment that will cater to your special needs.

Coney Island Diner is a cute, cozy diner in Mansfield. I’m not from Mansfield so I cant say if there’s a better diner in the area, but I liked it! It was decorated like a diner should be, had regular local business, and decent typical breakfast fare. I rated this as a diner and nothing more. 4 out of 5 because the waitress wasn’t particularly warm and friendly but wasn’t rude either.

Try the coney hamburger for a meaty tasty switch. I prefer it to the dogs. The pea salad is famous and is just a salad with peas in it which is simple but sufficiently pleasant somehow. A downtown Mansfield landmark.

If I could have zero stars, I would. DONOT go here if you have food allergies. They will give you the run around, and in the end not serve you because they«don’t want to take the chance»(aka they don’t want to take 20 seconds to clean the grill).
