Waffle House

Waffle House, oh Waffle House, how do I describe thee? The old 70’s/80’s interior. The waitresses with multiple problems and personalities. The service that is laid back and casual as if you weren’t their guest. The short order cooks running around like a chicken with their head cut off. The drink girl trying to keep up with filling sweet teas and coffees. Stopped in this past Saturday for a late breakfast. We had some time to kill waiting on our other vehicle to get serviced at the meineke. Came into a packed house… Only two spots left were at the bar. We hopped into the old cushy chairs and began reading over the menu. (It’s been years since I set foot in one of these) oh my things haven’t changed. I swear waffle houses are frozen in whatever decade they were built. The Waitress walking by said she would be with us in a minute. Okie dokie then. She came back around 5 minutes later and took our drink and food orders. 2 sweet teas, a managers special (2 eggs/​hash browns with two toppings/​choice of meat/​toast), and a special breakfast (2 eggs/​meat of choice/​hash browns/​waffle). She came back fairly quickly with the drinks and utensils. Until our food arrived we had some decent entertainment. Listening to the old and new cook bicker at each other. Listening to the waitresses bicker at each other. Listening to the old men drinking coffee flirt with the waitresses The food arrived. Mmmm oh my!!! My arteries were probably spazzing. My eggs cooked perfect over medium. Hash browns smothered in cheese and covered with onions. Bacon cooked fresh… toast was buttery and awesome. My fiancé didn’t even stop to talk during the meal. It was a big breakfast and it sure was good. The inside might be crowded and the employees have dramatic personalities but that’s part of it. Food was cooked correctly, fast, and fresh. Nothing fancy and it won’t break you wallet! (our meals were 6.79 & 7.50) solid food and entertainment as well.

Been eating here since it opened. Today’s visit was horrible. Food came out wrong and cold. The cook was unorganized.
They need a manager to do some training.

We were on our way to another spot and decided to stop here. This place is usually full with a wait. We got luck today and got a table a min or so after walking in. The staff is super friendly and full of personality. It was amusing listening to them interact with everyone. We had fast food service and the quality was in line with what you expect from a waffle house.

Gotta have my grits at any Waffle House. Staff friendly, smiling and attentive. Fast service. Like every other Waffle House it could be cleaner.

We came to this Waffle House and arrived to a pretty full-​looking house tonight. This place is pretty clean and didn’t give me that sort of gritty, over-​oily, dirty feel that I’ve felt at some other Waffle Houses I’ve been to. There was a table open but had not been cleaned off but a waitress cleared it off and wiped down the tabletop and seats pretty soon after noticing me and my friend.
After a tiny wait and receiving our utensils, I noticed my knife had a lot of water residue on it and a bit of something else so I asked for a new one and they did so without any fuss. :) I wasn’t ready to order the first two times the waitress came around but she wasn’t annoyed at all.
My food tasted great. :D The eggs were a lovely yellow with the cheese mixed in. The bacon wasn’t too crunchy but wasn’t too soggy. The hashbrowns were cooked in a circular ring but came out fine. Sweet tea was great like always.
Waffle House food is usually the same wherever you go. However, this location has just that AND great staff to boot. Would come back again.
Also, I’m not sure if this is a change that’s affected all Waffle Houses, but this one didn’t have an option for buttermilk waffles even though I’ve seen it numerous times in the past at other locations.

What can I say? I love waking up late on Saturday and eating a perfectly cooked pecan waffle and greasy hash browns. This waffle house is much more efficient than the one close to my house, so I tend to not mind driving a little further for better service.

I had the chocolate chip waffles and they were yummy. I wish we had a Waffle House in CA.

The «greasy spoon» is ubiquitous across the nation as a no frills, good ol’ diner or othersuch with filling and hearty if not great food. I propose that we change the dysphemism to an actual euphemism and call it a «Waffle House»
Waffle house does not have salads and soups (unless you count gravy as soup) like some of the other pandering breakfast places, it has 1 thing — greasy breakfast served quickly by tattooed/​pregnant/​alcoholic/​geriatric/​biker chicks/​cowgirls (sometimes all at once.) it’s inexpensive and it’s quick (and if you wait there is free coffee.) it’s simple and it’s JUST what it says.
Oh and they order like this (

No frills, decent food, interesting people, quick cheap with actual greasy spoons… i love a good (strike)greasy spoon (/​strike) waffle house
