Just took this ghost tour in May of 2015. Our tour size was 15 people done on a Friday night. Wife got the tour on groupon for 14 per person. Otherwise it is $ 28 per person which is a bit high I thought. You meet near the book store and the guide takes you out from there for about two hours. It is all walking but you are walking through the beautiful small city of Manteo in the Outer Banks. First off the ghost tours are fairly new here and our guide did a nice job. She took a lantern(at first it was still daylight but it got dark by the time we were done). As other posters have stated it is a history tour and we stopped at about six locations were the guide told us stories not of the places we were at but the local lore and that ‘something may have happened here I need to do more research’ came out a few times. But overall it was fun, we learned much about the local area(how the locals in Nag’s head used to tie a light on a horse to attract the boats at night to come in so they would wreck and they could loot them), Aaron Burr’s daughter, the legend of the white doe. We enjoyed it but if you are looking for something to shock you you might want to look somewhere else. And at $ 28.00 each I would look for a coupon or groupon as that is too expensive we thought for this tour but at $ 14.00 a good value.

It pains me to give this locally owned business 2 stars, but the truth of the mater is it really wasn’t that great. Issues: 1) Tour size — they gather in the town square at Manteo hoping to attract walk ups. Well they did, and what should have been a 10ish person tour group turned into 40 people. What??? It was awful. 2) Due to tour size it was hard to keep up. Tour guide walked at a unreasonably fast pace and by the time the end of the tour caught up he’d be already started into his story. 3) The stories just weren’t interesting. At the end of the day I’m rating this tour so low b/c the all mighty dollar overtook common sense. I mean really — I don’t care how many walk ups wanna take the tour… you can’t accommodate everyone and as a person with a reservation I was pissed. It’s a shame. I was looking forward to this b/c i try and take a ghost tour in every town I go to visit. This was easily the lamest. By far.
