«Free» kids meal Sunday’s isn’t free anymore. I got $ 4.75 off my daughters $ 5.95 meal(the only price for kid’s meals). Not a huge deal I just HATE false advertising. Also the front counter guy was horrible. No «hi», no smile, «thank you», nothing. If we do ever return to Dickey’s it will definitely be a different location. Never had any bad service at the Plymouth location.

NOISYNOISYNOISY! This was my first time at this Dickey’s location. I can’t blame the store too much, but the customer base is primarily people with pre-school to early elementary age children running the place. Maybe this was because I visited on a Sunday, and they were all there to get the free kids meal. Ordering took forever as the dozen or so free kids meals were prepared. Again, the noise level was extremely high as kids ran about and screamed and cried continuously. Music volume was also extremely LOUD. The setup of this unit is poor having to shuffle by people to get to and from the table area to the drink fountain. I wouldn’t find the kids such a big deal but when I am paying $ 13.00 for a fast food lunch I expect a little more of an adult atmosphere. Not McDonalds Playland.

Surprisingly good food for a chain. Every bit as good as famous Dave’s. The spareribs are smoked to perfection. Real juicy and easy to tug off the bone. Nice pink smoke ring. The rub is pretty decent, though not spicy enough for me. Of the three bbq sauces available I got the hottest one, and once again it’s not all that spicy. The sides are darn goo; I recommend the baked beans. Good sweet tea and unsweetened as well. A taste of the south right here in Maple grove. Don’t expect the best barbecue you’ve ever had, but definitely dine here sometime.

I have no complaints! I also have nothing adulatory to write either. Between my husband and myself we tried the pulled pork, brisket, sausage, green beans, Cole slaw, Mac n cheese, waffle fries, and bread. And the sauces. It all ranged from a little bland to satisfactory. Whatever. I would come back if someone wanted to but there are better chains and much better local places even in MN.

Pretty good, but the floors are sticky for some reasons, They don’t give out numbers so the waiters don’t know who’s food is who’s, the layout of the restaurant is confusing, and the baked potatoes are a little dry. On the good side they give out free Ice cream and the Beef Brisket is pretty good, same with fried Okra. So I say Dickey’s is good for a desperate need of BBQ.

Sunday-Funday should include cook animal of some sort. Add to that Kids eat free and I’m all in! Now I am a fan of the local chain rib place but otherwise will shy away from any chain that claims to know how to smoke meat. There are certain things you can’t teach a high school kid working for you or a part time person filling a void. That said the meat here was really good. I had the two meat meal with pork ribs and brisket. The brisket was really good, not at all dry and a nice little bark to it. The ribs were very tender, nice smoke ring although could have been darker. I would say the pork ribs were more tender and fall-off-the-bone like than the chain down the street. The restaurant was the downside. We came in on a Sunday morning around 11:30 and it was a dump! Dirty, counters not washed down, stations not filled or cleaned which made me think twice about the food. Well, food was good, good sides, tasty Mac-and-cheese and no lingering effects… I’ll be back. Sunday-Funday. KT

Minneapolis is definitely not a city known for it’s BBQ, but considering this is Famous Dave’s country(originating in Wisconsin), it’s done pretty well for itself. It’s not top-notch BBQ by any means, but it’s definitely tasty and you do get some big portions of food. The main reason why Dickey’s can compete with Famous Dave’s, which admittedly is more flavorful, is that the portion sizes are large. I was pretty impressed by the quantity of food I was able to get – a couple different BBQ meats, 2 sides, cornbread, drink, and ice cream. That was a regular sized meal. The pulled pork was my favorite part of the meal. They also offere a complimentary soft serve machine, but this definitely was not up to the caliber of a place like Jason’s Deli(they also offer the complimentary soft serve). It came out gritty as if the mix wasnt blended properly. I should also mention that they often have coupons in local publications and the Entertainment coupon book – it saved me a good amount on two meals. Overall, I think if you are looking for the«best» BBQ in the Twin Cities, you need to venture to Q– Fanatic in Champlin. It’s definitely out of the way, but it’s extremely tasty. Pros: Convenient location in Maple Grove, big portion sizes, free soft serve machine, coupons Cons: Good BBQ but not spectacular, soft serve wasnt up to par

Went with a group of 6 for lunch yesterday and we were all pleased. A co-worker and I did a BOGO deal on the Big BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, I made mine a Sandwich Plate with the baked potato casserole and the caesar salad as my sides. And of course, I can’t pass up sweet tea. Everyone in our group was pleased with their food, with the exception of the BBQ beans. They complained that it was all sauce and hardly any beans. My sandwich was tasty but a little dry, I remedied that with some BBQ sauce. The caesar salad was standard and I always like the potatoes. I’ve been to 3 locations now and have liked all of them. This is a great spot to grab a quick lunch. One tiny complaint is that the soft-serve was very grainy and sweet. I think either it wasn’t frozen enough or something was wrong with the machine. It’s nice to get a free cone after eating though!

This is different, in a good way. It almost reminds me of how Erberts and Gerberts is set up, only with BBQ. They have a limited menu with some good choices. There are like 100 sides that can go along with the main dish as well. Okay, 100 might be a slight exaggeration, but it’s a lot. Some are winners and others are not so good. I’ve been here about 4 times now and the food is good. I love the Big BBQ sandwich, but it isn’t that big to me. If you’re going to call it big, make it big! Then there’s the Ice cream. It’s free! What more could you want? Sure it is the soft serve out of a machine, but it’s decent and can fill you up if you didn’t get enough in the meal. There you have it. Not spectacular, but worth a visit.

Mmmmm good stuff. After having my meal, we finished with a soft serve which is included in the price of the meal. What could be better?

Judging by the other comments, I’m guessing I’m missing something. The restaurant itself was clean and the staff was friendly, but I thought the food was sub-par. I went in craving BBQ and it did NOT hit the spot. When I want BBQ, I’m looking for a smokey flavor in addition to a lathering of sauce, with the need for sauce being optional. This place just tasted like food slathered in sauce — and the sauce is meh. Nothing on my plate or my fiancé’s plate made me want to come back, although I’m also not blacklisting it. If I’m with someone and they really want to go, I’ll hit it up with them, but I won’t fly it solo or as a «my choice» kind of deal.

We went there for a quick lunch today before we went to Arbor Lakes for our shopping. The place is actually pretty small and has probably about 10 tables. It is more like a fast-food kind of place, where you order your food at the cashier, get the number, but the staff will serve your basket of foods to your table. Overall, this place is very clean, and the staffs are all nice. They serve your food, and they walk around asking you if you want anything else, cleaning table, and even taking your food baskets after you are done.. and that’s why I give this place 3 stars. And for the food. my bf ordered beef brisket plate with waffle fries and green beans and bacon, and I ordered beef brisket, spicy Cheddar sausage with waffle fries and green beans and bacon. We are not bbq experts by any means, but we both agreed that the beef brisket was very bland. I had to smothered the brisket with a bunch of bbq sauce. I was very surprised to see my bf even poured some of the bbq sauce on his brisket because he doesnt like bbq sauce and doesnt really eat anything with bbq sauce at all. He told me the brisket was just so bland that he had to suppress his dislike towards the bbq sauce in order to finish the brisket. :(My spicy Cheddar sausages, on the other hand, was quite alright. They were very cheesy and also very spicy. The waffle fries were done pretty good.. very nicely hot and crisp, but the green beans and bacon was just ok. Though the free soft serve ice-cream was a nice touch, we didnt really care for it that much. I might go back again because I saw a lot of ppl there today eating the bbq sandwich, so maybe the bbq sandwich is a better choice than the meat plate. NOTE: Be careful when you use the restroom there. When I was sitting down pe_ing, the restroom light turned off by itself. I had to wave my hand so that the light would detect my motion and turn on again, and I didnt even pe_that long. I dont really want to imagine if I was in need to po__. I would probably need to be moving my hand up and down all the time! .

I tried the brisket sandwich with a side of macaroni and cheese. The brisket had good flavor and was pretty moist. Macaroni and sweet tea were both good and can’t pass up the free soft serve. I like this place, I’d say the BBQ is better, cheaper and faster than Famous Dave’s. I’ll definitely be back for lunch since it’s not too far from my office.

Good, cheap Barbeque at Dickey’s. Famous Dave’s has been on my speed dial for a decade and I still like the way Dave’s does BBQ. But Dickey’s is less expensive and I am very pleased with the quality of the food. The sauce is thinner, and their spicy variety is good and hot. I had a sandwich with links and brisket with fries. Free ice cream after the meal helped kill the fire from the sauce. Four out of Five for decent grub at a decent price.

This place is great. I love my brisket and they do it right here… low n slow. Yes, the sauce is not as thick, but that’s the way it should be, not that thick crap from the grocery store. The chopped beef plate and pulled pork are both musts. Sides are also great, try green beans and baked potato casserole. You won’t be disappointed!

This is the fast food of BBQ. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Ribs were okay. I did not care for the Spicy Hot Links. Fried Onion Tanglers were very cooked and crispy, too much for my personal preference. Waffle fries were what you would expect. They have free Ice cream machine for desert.
