Here’s an honest review for you. When you first see the building you’re a little weirded out because it seems out of place. I mean it really seems out of place. You walk into a set of double doors. You don’t think of it at the time but the doors are not aligned but consciously you’re telling yourself that something isn’t right. When you enter the restaurant you’re met by darkeness. I’m not kidding it is really dark in this place. I’m boring myself while writing this so I’ll get straight to the point. This place is awkward. The reviews of this place are fairly accurate. The bread that comes out before your meal should be warm and fresh. It wasn’t either. The salad is mediocre with 1 cherry tomato and a dab of dressing. I give this restaurant 3 stores because despite the awkward feeling the food was actually pretty good. My tip would be to ask for your steak seasoned a little harder than usual because it taste a little bland. Good but bland.

We had a group of 12 for a retirement party this past weekend. Thank you to the staff at Sorentos for making our day a memory of a lifetime. The prime rib, filets and shrimp were outstanding! Our waitress ‘Abby’ did a phenominal job keeping up with all of our requests with a big smile on her face. We will tell all our friends and family. We will be back soon. Thank you again.

Place was very very good! Prices were however a bit high… if you’re looking for a good pasta go with their Fetta Alfredo

Whenever I visit here, it feels like a blast from the past. They have not updated anything about the restaurant but it works! Food is above average. I got the prime rib, it was larger than my head! I have been and will continue to be a loyal customer of this establishment

Best restaurant in the DeKalb area. The prime rib is probably the best steak I have ever had, and their baked french onion soup is my favorite soup anywhere. Not cheap but relatively inexpensive as far as steakhouses go.

I came here for a friend’s birthday party dinner and I had such high hopes when I saw Chilean Sea Bass on the menu(had this at the Tao in Las Vegas, so maybe not a fair comparison!). The service was great, however, the food and especially the presentation were lacking. The first thing delivered was a basket of crackers and a half loaf of pre sliced bread… not even warm bread! There was also a platter of various veggies. Next came the soup. I ordered the minestrone soup… flavorful but lukewarm. Next came the salad… if you can call it that. It was a bowl of lettuce, and not the nice green kind either… more of the white, hard lettuce you find near the middle. It came with, I kid you not, one cherry tomato, one cucumber slice, and a small dab of salad dressing… needless to say, I did not finish this! The main course came and I had ordered the garlic mashed potatoes as a side dish. They were on the heavy side and were served on a side plate, even though there was more than enough room on the main plate. The sea bass did not have much flavor, and on the plate were two small carrots and a broccoli stem. All in all very disappointed with my experience, especially for what you pay.

In the middle of nowhere sits this old-school, frozen-in-a-different era, totally unhip, un-ironic, dinosauric time-capsule of a supper club. It is as square as a Republican Bachelor Party. From the look of most of the clientele you would swear you were either at a Republican Bachelor Party where the Men brought their wives along for good measure, or a seminar for Post-retirement planning.(No disrespect intended). The Menu is free of hyperbole, and cleverness. It’s straight and narrow. It is one of the single greatest restaurants in Northern Illinois, and maybe the Country. This is what high-class«going out» was back in the day. If you catch the rhythm, you’ll see that this is still a high-class joint. And the food – meaning Steak and Prime Rib – is divine. Order an Old-fashioned, or a Martooni, or a Manhattan. It will be made perfectly. You get a relish tray, just like in the day-radishes, celery, etc. A perfect light appetizer. Maybe a salad or a soup(The baked French Onion is a work of Art)-all perfect. All of this in anticipation of the main event-a hunk of bloody-rare Prime Rib the size and shape of a Birthday Cake. Perfectly seasoned. Perfect in every way.(yes, of course you can get it cooked to the temperature you like – it’s my review, though) Or a Steak like a Clincher Softball. Yep-perfect! It ain’t cheap-cheap, but at the same time, it won’t disturb the molecular structure of your Credit Card. WORTH every penny! Dress up just a little, Get in the car, put some Sinatra on the Stereo, and take the big drive out west. And dine like a King and Queen…

I went with a group of 12 to celebrate my 40th Birthday. It was a wonderful night. Several of us ordered the prime rib which was the special that day. We all received beautiful cuts of meat cooked to perfection! The relish tray, bread, and salad were fresh and delicious! The corn chowder soup was very tasty just a bit thin. I also tried a piece of fried shrimp and a bite of lasagna. Both were very good. The portion of lasagna is huge! We all had a very wonderful night! We left full and happy.

All I can say is, if this is a four-star suburban restaurant, I can never leave Chicago. I can’t recall ever having such a terrible meal, and I really feel bad saying that. The server was really nice but this meal could not be redeemed. I was with friends looking for something to eat after Kuiper’s, and honestly there were so few options, this seemed like the best one. Sadly none of us were happy. The veggie plate at the start looked old and wilted. Soup tasted like water. Alfredo tasted like NOTHING(literally). Salad was wilted. I don’t know. I would have put this maybe on an applebee’s type quality level before the food came out but it was not even that… sorry Sorrento’s.

What a great little gem hidden in the cornfields! After some apple picking we Unilocaled and found Sorrento’s and decided to give it a try. We read about the Prime Rib and had to give it a try. Yes, the décor is dated but that’s the magic of this old school supper club. Very clean and great service! To start they bring out a veggie tray and a bread basket with the most amazing cheese spread and butter. We had the king Prime Rib and Vinnie’s Filet Special. Twice baked potato was good but the garlic mashed stole the show. Oh and I can’t forget my favorite creamy garlic dressing. Delish! We finished out our meal with the chocolate cake! Yum! Very reasonably priced and definitely would come back again! So excited we found a new place!

Even living in the suburbs, my wife and I still make the drive out here. Definitely an old school Wisconsin supper club feel. Décor is a little dated, but we definitely don’t come to admire sconces. Service is always top notch and more than willing to accommodate the large groups we typically go with. The food is some of the best in the area. My wife typically tries the same thing. I have been stuck on prime rib for the duration of time we’ve been coming here. Simply put, the best prime rib I’ve ever had.

Filet Mignon cooked medium rare. Spot On! It cut like butter! The mashed potatoes were good. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the price was right. They still serve the same creamy garlic salad dressing that I had 30+ years ago and it was delish!

I thought it was fabulous. Yes like another review said it does remind you of a dinner club but the food is great. Since there are not to many choices in Sycamore for steaks. This place is great. I will be back when back in the area.

With Johnnys in Dekalb closing, we «refound» this hidden gem. While my wife does not like the décor, I find it very appealing. Like going to your grandparents house in Wisconsin. In fact, it has a Wisconsin supper club feel. The Prime Rib is second to none and very inexpensive, with the larger cut going for around 22 bucks. Side choices are plentiful and the staff very friendly. This is easy to show up here casual or dressed to the nines and still feel«in place». They bring out a cheese dip and veggie tray with bread when you sit down. TVs are only in bar and I do not think they have wifi, both are pluses for us. Kids will most likely feel at home here as well. Chicken ribs, steaks, fish are all on the menu. We have tried much of it and never been disappointed. Even when the lot looks full, we have never waited for a seat. This is probably due to the fact that it is almost TARDIS like being bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. Highly recommended.

Go to Sorrento’s if you are in the boonies and need to satisfy your prime rib or steak hankering at a reasonable price. A definite supper club feel, this place is a great venue for a meal with the baby boomers. We took mom here for Mother’s Day, and it is great for a late lunch or early dinner on a Sunday. The filets were good, cooked perfectly. My dad said the lamb was a bit overlooked. They serve fish too, but none of us tried it. Try the baked French onion soup for a heartier appetizer to your meal, because the salad is lackluster. For dessert we tried the carrot cake and chocolate cake. Save your appetite, fill yourself up with the steak or go somewhere else for dessert because the cakes were dry and bland. Service was fine, but a bit slow on the drink refills and clearing away plates. Prices are reasonable for the cut of meat and all that is included with dinner. I’m not hating this place; it has a few things that are really good, and others that could use improvement. But I’m sure I will be back with my parents in the future — and I’ll focus on the simple filet and skip(or forgive) the rest. 3 stars Last visited 5÷12÷13

Old School Super Club all the way! Is the décor dated? Yes An attentive wait staff? Yes Is it dark inside with soft lighting? Yes Oak wall panels with a wood beam ceiling? Yes A separate bar area for a cocktail before dinner? Yes Before ordering, do they serve a relish tray to munch on? Yes Do they serve the best prime rib cooked to your specifications? Yes O.K. But will I need a doggie bag for a midnight snack? Depending, but Yes!

We had our company party here last night, it is a bit of a drive for me living in Chicago but was of so worth it as the Steak Lover that I am I had the prime Rib and it was perfect you could of almost cut it with a butter knife, nice and juicy and oh so full of flavor, this was one of if not the best prime rib i have ever eaten and I have had prime rib all over from mom and pop places too Morton’s steak house service was great they have a nice room in the basement for private parties and they don’t charge to use the room my boss said, makes me sad I didn’t go to the dinner last year I truly missed out on a great dinner last year I won’t be missing any more after that meal I had the cheese cake it was good think it may have been Eli’s but I recommend the chocolate cake it was huge piece and tasty also I tried some, they also have a flaming ice cream they put a piece of ice in brandy then put it on top of ice cream and light I was told it is very good not on the menu that I know of so have to ask for it

The portions and the prices are unreal! The food was good, but not great outstanding. I am by no means a prime rib expert, but I thought mine was a on the fatty side. The size of the prime rib was amazing and it came with a side, soup, and a salad! I tried my sister in law’s chicken parm and I would order that again in a heartbeat. Everyone raved about the au-gratin potatoes and I thought they were decent, but not even in the same ballpark as Carsons. Overall this place is a solid 3.5, but I had to round up for the huge portions at a fraction of city prices!
