We had hair in our rice pudding. Everything was just«ok» the palace of asia is SO much better and doesn’t charge you for bread.

I’ve been looking for an Indian buffet in the South Jersey area and there were several places to choose from but I decided to try this place instead. My husband and I were excited to go but we wanted to make sure that we get there at the right time for their weekend buffet so we called their number in Maple Shade. Well, the number was disconnected and so we called the one in Stratford, NJ and the man on the phone told us that the other place was closed. We also asked about the buffet and he said they’re having it until 2:30pm. So off we went. Their place was somewhat hidden. It’s behind a Dollar store but it had a sign pointing to where it is so we found it right away. We walked in and there was only one attendant(I’m guessing he’s the one who answered the phone) who was very nice. One man was sitting behind the counter where you pay after you finish eating, but that’s all he does. So anyway, we found a table and then started our journey of trying Indian cuisine! I am a rice lover and I like Basmati rice. I loved their vegetarian dish that had cheese in it, and I loved everything I tried there. I skipped a few things because I either don’t know how to eat them or I didn’t know what they were. I enjoyed the goat curry and in fact had seconds of it. I also loved the Naan and the fact that you can get as much as you want! I may have forgotten to list down the dishes I tried and ate for the purpose of this review but I am writing a review anyway to let you know that I really loved the food here and the comfort level of the place is high and so you should definitely try! :)

Thank you Unilocal!!! I would have never notice this place, drove past it thousands of times. It’s in a very old dingy hotel/motel. At first it doesn’t look so nice but you get over it once you start eating. Went here on a Sat for brunch and it was buffet time! $ 13 for buffet and includes drink and naan bread. Everything was so yummy, I really liked their rice pudding. I left happy and full! Will be back!

Lackluster, slow, somewhat indian food…

Like the other reviewers noted, the appearance is a bit scary at first… sort of «ok…glad that I read about this on Unilocal first… so I’ll keep going» — the first impression is really the only reason I detract 1 star — because the food was FRIGGINAWESOME! The servers were very friendly, attentive and helpful. My boyfriend and I both inhaled our own dishes — Chicken Kashmiri and Korma — 2 orders of Naan and… the Aloo Papri Chaat appetizer. The complementary lentil side was also a pleasant surprise! We’ll most certainly return if we are ever back in the area — wonderful experience.

I don’t live in the area but am here quite often for work. I always make sure to get food from Gagan. I’ve never been disappointed. We first found them at their old location but we’re happy when they moved even closer. The chicken kashmiri is out of this world! We typically get take out so I can’t attest to the atmosphere of the new location. It’s a must if you like Indian

i wrote a one star review on 1÷23÷2011. It’s not here so it must have been deleted.(Can businesses delete reviews that they don’t like?) Once again i would say, the busboy(actually a middle-aged man) was very nice and professional. my glass was dirty, the waiter charged me more than the menu price explaining that the price was«supposed to be higher.» My wine was served in a very small sherry glass. My vegetarian food tasted as if it had been cooked with meat product.(I am STRICT lacto vegetarian) Lets see if they delete this review.

First glance at this restaurant left us unsure of what to expect. It is located in a rather dingy motel, and the smell of pool and smoke greeted us as we walked up the stairs to the restaurant. My husband and I exchanged some sideways glances, wondering what we were about to find. We became even more nervous when we entered the restaurant to find that we were the only customers at 6:00 at night on a Friday. Hmm… After gorging ourselves on the $ 12.95 dinner buffet, our conclusion is that this is the best kept secret in the area. The food was outstanding! I sampled a wide variety of vegetarian dishes from the buffet, while my husband fell in love with the goat dish. There was a much wider variety of dish choices than your average Indian buffet. Our attentive server told us that bread and drinks were included in the buffet price. We were astounded to learn that bread meant naan and /or filled dosa(that’s right, not a plain, limp dosa. two dosas stuffed with potato and peas, and generously spiced). And a mango lassi is one of the included beverage choices! The buffet dishes weren’t spicy, but were well spiced. We will definitely be returning to Gagan many times. The food was amazing and the service was attentive but not intrusive.

We were happy and surprised during our visit last night to find that they now have a DINNERBUFFET on Thurs & Fri nights… priced at an unbelievable $ 12.95 … Bonus ! I’ve seen alot of reviews saying they wished they had a dinner buffet, well now they do. Maybe they saw them too. Unfortunately for them, since the move the place is never crowded. Been here a few times since the move, and the food is still consistantly good. You don’t go for the ambiance.

This place serves great indian food. Dont be fooled because it is tied to a motel. I found the food to be quite authentic and service great. We had chicken tikka masala, veg jalfrezi and rotis.

Food was good, but there’s something about walking into a dated motel, with the smell of cheap motel soap that makes this unappetizing. I would tread carefully on this one.

Since there aren’t many Indian restaurants in my area, we go here often. Lunch during the work day is always good, and the buffet on the weekends is even better. I took my sister here for her birthday lunch and we both enjoyed just about everything in the buffet. Lots of variety too. I tried dishes I haven’t had before and I like the opportunity to try a little before deciding to order a whole plateful the next time I go. For some reason, there were only two men waiting on all of the tables and the service was kind of slow. We had to order our naan too, which is weird because most places have it on the buffet table. So we were already on our second plates when it finally came out and it was over baked and crunchy. Terrible. The saving grace was that the rest of the food was really delicious and cheap. Oh and their gulab jamun(sic?), which is my favorite, was super yummy!

This place really is as good as it gets. The food is AMAZING, the buffet has a great selection and the staff is normally pretty attentive. If I could eat here every day, I would.(maybe every week.) The only downside is that it tends to be a bit pricey. Takeout was very expensive compared to Philly takeout places. But Id still recommend Gagaan for great food!!!

Gagan Bistro is warm & friendly. Definitely the best Naan & Mint Chutney I’ve experienced to date. The service is excellent. The staff friendly & accommodating. The lamb is tender, and cooked perfectly. The Samosa & Chaat was very good. The Chicken Tiki Masala was spicy, Flavorful and satisfying! For dessert the Pistachio Ice Cream & Tapioca hit the spot. There is a lunch buffet which I WILL be trying and they’re closed on Monday’s. They definitely deserve a day off. They also do a booming take out business. My Favorite Pick in Marlton!

Down to earth, extremely friendly Indian restaurant that offers incredibly good food at very reasonable prices. We go to Gagan Bistro very regularly(sometimes weekly during Fall/Winter) and have never ever been disappointed in any way… Probably the best Indian food(to my taste in the area)… If you’ve never had Indian cuisine before, I highly recommend their lunch buffet for $ 10…

I love this place! Whenever we go to sit down and eat, service is top-notch, friendly and efficient. We usually get takeout, it’s always ready, accurately packaged and delivered with a smile. Absolutely everything we’ve had here is wonderful. I’m a vegetarian, he’s a meat eater and between the two of us we’ve probably consumed 75% of the menu. We both like«hot» food, but order it «medium» here — they offer mild, medium, hot and Indian hot. I can’t imagine how hot Indian Hot is! I only wish it offered a buffet at night — I believe it’s only lunch. We’d probably be there weekly if that was the case(you know, as opposed to only every other week!)

I stop by here fairly regularly. I love Indian food and this place satisfies my cravings to the Nth degree. Very tasty(love the Naan). They have a large menu and because of that it is difficult to find other Indian restaurants that give you the variety you get here. Chicken, Fish, Goat, vegetarian. I have tried about half the menu and I am anxious to try the rest. The Biryani is great. If you like it hot… they can accommodate you like few other places can. You of course can order mild, but I love the spices. Nice.

I, in all honesty, am quite unfamiliar with indian cuisine, and I’m so happy to be expanding my palate exploring the wonderful dishes at Gagan Bistro! My fiancée and I went there several months ago with a bottle fruity red wine in hand, and and an extremely knowledgeable server(who we think may be one of the owners) was so patient and informative. His recommendation was the dinner for two, and it was a delicious choice for us. Brandon and I loved the goat curry – it was soooo tasty! While we thoroughly enjoyed the meal in it’s entirety, we especially enjoyed the samosa, lamb tikka masala, and the veg jalferazi. After conversing with our wonderful server about how tasty everything was,(it was like an epiphany to me) he shared that they serve an awesome buffet all days but Monday. We took him up on advice and enjoyed an incredible buffet for such a steal – like 8 dollars a piece! The restaurant provides quite a spread of food, and it’s divided by veg/non veg options. I have to say, buffets are generally not up to par with ordering off the menu; however, Gagan Bistro makes it happen – AND they have a smile on their faces! Great stuff! If you love indian food, or have never tried it, this is the place to go! LOL – we love hot food, but be careful, their hot is really hot… soo good, but you’ll sweat! Please dine here to enjoy an authentic taste of India!

Gagan Bistro is a family run bistro and it shows in the pride they take in doing their best. Pure authentic Indian food. very charming bistro. Tasty dishes throughout. This is the place for home cooking style food and feeling like you’ve stepped into a Delhi place. Yet, it’s very accessible: right in the heart of Marlton– right across of Kohl’s and Olga’s diner on the crossing near Rt. 70. and 73– so good for a quick afternoon casual stop as well as a full evening event. Quite extensive selections. Very hard to describe all they offer. their website layout is good for listing it all: . I’ve heard those who are not very familiar with Indian food say the food here is different and refreshing from other Indian places they’ve tried before. very good, yet different. Yes, indeed… this is very authentic preparations, similar to how it’s cooked in India– pure classic: no additions or subtractions that sometimes Indian places have started to do, in order to capture a more global taste audience and $. I applaud them for keeping the dishes pure and classic. Many Indians I know prefer only this type of authentic cooking. However, the great thing is that the chefs are very willing and ready to prepare it how you would like it: tell them in advance if you want mild, spicy, creamier, lighter, etc., and they go out of their way to comply. Don’t hesistate to mention to them inputs and tips– they are genuinely open to suggestions. The customer is always right in this place. Nice buffet. they take care to present it well: the appetizer selection is extensive in the buffet and presented artfully on a large heated platter Tasty samosas line the side of the round platter like flowers and in the middle are other tasty dishes. Someone is almost always there there fixing it up. This is a general indication of the details going into the food preparation and presentation. I ate there quite a while back, so my review is a bit technical and objective: would give it 4.5 stars, but can only give it 4. Just .5 stars less, because the food can be a little calorie-rich. Well, that’s authentic cooking for you. I know if I visit this place again, it will jump to 5 stars easily, when the taste is fresh in my mind. Professional and cozy at the same time, the warmth is present throughout. Sometimes, the chefs actually come out and ask you how you like it. such warmth. We like it. :)
