Got the margherita pizza with my girlfriend. We live very close by and noticed that the place is consistently busy so we figured it must be really good(there is no shortage of italian/pizza places in the area). Unfortunately it was below average. Good sauce but crust was a bit overcooked and thin for my liking. Small blotches of fresh mozzarella. I’ve had worse but it wasn’t worth the $ 17. Service was subpar. I’m not expecting to get my butt kissed but the staff didn’t seem very friendly. They seemed to be more concentrated on talking to each other about what candy/junk food they were getting from WaWa(or something like that… couldn’t help but overhear their yelling across the kitchen while I was waiting). Perhaps if we ate in we would have a different impression but it wasn’t a very warm/welcoming feeling. Cash only rule is irritating. This is a newer place in town; no excuses to not have alternate payment methods. Credit and debit fees to the business are nominal and offering alternate payments makes it more convenient for the customer(which should be your #1 concern as a business). If you guys are cash only to save a buck then you should pass along the savings to the customer. I’ll stick to Montegrillos down the street.

Huge, well-decorated place that still feels cozy and intimate. Efficient, friendly service & staff. Clean all-around(dining room, bathrooms, kitchen). Small menu, but has good, solid basics with a gourmet twist. Menu includes: several pizzas, many toppings options, 4 types of pasta(gnocchi, cavatelli, shells, & a spaghetti-like one; the first 3 are house made; in both app size and sharing size), four or five sauce options(creamy gorgonzola, a bolognese, and a blush, among others), four or five salads(the big ones are HUGE), lots of drinks, and a hearty dessert menu(6 or 7 options). We had the margherita pizza(we added pesto); the basic house salad w/romaine & veggies, & balsamic; the app-sized gnocchi w/creamy gorgonzola, 1 tiramisu, &1 coffee. Plenty for 4 hungry adults. Everything was very good. Tasty, appropriate portion size, and served with a smile. The pizza was cracker-thin(we like it that way), and the gnocchi were like little cylinders. We’re somewhat-foodies, so we might have liked a bit more complex flavor in all of the dishes, but they were all a solid 4 out of 5(in comparison to the local area, probably even a 4.5). Note that they do not take credit cards(cash only), & they don’t have parmesan cheese(fine by me). They are a byob and there’s a liquor store a block away. We’d definitely return!

Mixed feelings about this place. Bummed that they are cash only… What an inconvenience to their customers! And why, they don’t want to pay the fee? Welcome to the 21st century! The pizza is GOOD. Thin, semi-burnt, very light and the sauce is delicious. Very pricey for what you get. I am also pretty sure this isn’t ‘authentic brick oven’ like other reviewers seem to think… Overall good but would rather go somewhere else, which is sad because I live 5ft away.

Great pizza. We always come back for the marinara pie, it’s spicy with very little cheese but it’s AMAZING!

Don’t let other people tell you differently — the pizza at this place is just as good as the pizza at the original Tacconelli’s. Trust me, I grew up on this pizza. But this place is bigger, the staff is friendlier and you don’t have to reserve your dough. I love it here! this one is cash only too. HIGHLYRECOMMEND!

This is hands down the best pizza in the area. Excellent crust, excellent sauce, always cooked perfectly. I’ve occasionally had pizza as good, but I’ve never had better, so if you’re in the area, I can’t even imagine the snobbiest of pizza lovers being disappointed with Tacconelli’s pizza. You would have to go to Philadelphia to Pietro’s on Market to get pizza of this caliber. I also think the salad is top notch. I tried to get them to tell me the recipe for the dressing and all they would say is that its a balsamic vinaigrette. I managed to duplicate it at home though. But their house salad is awesome. Basically, romaine, cucumbers, peppers, mushrooms and onion. I always have them omit the onions and the mushrooms and always love that salad. And by the way, I don’t know what is up with the red peppers they put in that salad, but they are consistently the best red peppers I’ve ever had. I always order: Marguerite Pizza with House salad. Awesome… every.single.time Downside: Weird freaky hours. Tuesday through Sunday after 4? What pizza place is not open Saturday at lunchtime? Tacconelli’s. But keep making pizza like that, I’ll keep coming back. IMPORTANT: They do not take plastic so BRINGCASH.

Last time we went to Tacconelli’s in NJ, they were still located near the Moorestown Mall. And, it was just average at best. We figured, maybe they were just having a bad night. They moved, so let’s go try them out again. Well, I was once again disappointed. The restaurant itself is pretty large. The dinning room area is clean and inviting. The servers were all young, miserable girls, except ours. She was just as young, but she was very, very nice. But, just watching the interactions with the customers and other servers was why I said they were miserable. They never smiled, acted as if people were bothering them or taking them away from something more important. We ordered a Margarita Pizza and our friends ordered a regular pizza with sausage and long hots. When the pizza’s arrived to the table, I immediately noticed that the basil on our Margarita was cooked too long. They must have placed it on the pie as they slid it into the oven, so it was crisp. Usually, you add it as you’re almost finished cooking it, just for that reason… it doesn’t burn. Anyway, I was also disappointed at the amount of fresh mozzarella they added. It was really sparse and not that great tasting either. The bottom of the pie was WAY too thin also. It was crunchy, which for me was very off-putting. I expected a little chew and all I got was crunch. The only saving grace for me was the sauce. It was a very rich, flavorful sauce which was slightly on the sweeter side, which is the way I like it. Maybe this is a case of how you WANT to remember things verses how they ACTUALLY are. The Original location in Port Richmond in Philly always had a line out the door of people trying to get their Tacconelli’s fix… but I think the good old days are behind them. That super thin, crunchy crust is good for some people I suppose, but not for me.

The space is large. Note that the main entrance is not at the GPS location address, there is a large parking lot behind the restaurant which is adjacent to their main entrance. Our server was excellent, all other interactions with staff were subpar. They are cash only. Bring some cash and some booze if you like. They are BYOB. If you are a pizza lover and accustomed to a nice chew or texture for your dough with good sauce to cheese ratio then this is not the place for you. The crust is overly thin & crispy bordering on cracker like, very reminiscent of thin flatbread. If you like neopolitan style then you may enjoy it although it is far too thin and crunchy for my liking. Cheese to sauce ratio seems off. Margherita pie was adequately saucy but the cheese is so thin and spread out. Not sure if it is customary to cook the basil till it is crispy because I have never experienced a Margherita pie prepared this way but regardless, the charring of the herb left a bitter after taste and overall left the entire table wanting more cheese and fresh basil. Also added prociutto and arugula to half of a pie. They were out of arugula. The prociutto was also cooked to death. My expectations were high and I wanted to love the pizza however, the crackerlike, undercheesed, cooked basil, cooked prosciutto made it nearly impossible to enjoy. It became simply food to eat for eating sake.

I am a pizza guy. I love pizza. I can eat pizza even when I am full. This place is ok for a south jersey or Philly area. It does not stand even close to any place in NYC. I had a Margarita pie with a friend and it was awful. I had so many better ok pizza that this place deserves a review from a person who has options where to buy his pizza. Since I’m not a local resident and actually have great experience with many pizza shops I want to make sure to shed some light onto this local place. The dough was too thin and burnt, the crust was very very well done and burnt. The cheese was missing, it was literally missing. There was about half a piece of cheese on the whole pie. The staff were all young children maybe they’re legal to work but this was definitely a place that was saving money on payroll. I saw maybe one or two adults. I don’t even know if one of the adults was an employee. Originally this was a two star review. I tried to pay with my American Express, when the waitress told me «well we are cash only», they moved down one notch. I thought maybe they don’t take AMEX but they are hiding all of the money from Uncle Sam. I understand there are complex inversions for huge corporations and the little guy deserves a break, but practically slaving kids and pushing a subpar product at the same time while taking cash only is just low. I am an honest guy with a full time job. At least for now I still have a job. So I have nothing to gain from this review. If you been going here, keep going. If you passing by, keep driving. P.S. They call it «their own sauce». It’s really three parts tomato paste, one part water and some sugar added into the mix. P.P.S. I looked at other peoples tables. Their pizzas were all like mine. So I have real knowledge and this is not just a random rant. Also I should mention that the staff were all nice, just not the pizza.

What an interesting pizzeria first off it is very large perhaps seating upwards of 200 people easily; last Saturday evening was busy with a short wait of 15 to 20 minutes. That was enough time to run to the corner for a bottle of wine as Tacconelli’s is a byob restaurant. Once seated service was impeccable as there is a tag team approach among the waitresses so things move seamlessly from start to finish. Looking at the menu verses the seating you understand why there is only one size pie 16″ with your standard types of toppings. This puts less stress on the pizza operation and enables them to meet high demand, productivity and turnover, pretty smart I’d say. There are several pasta, salad and dessert items as well but overhaul the menu is limited and designed to roll with high volumes. A simple plain cheese pizza is how I judge my first time pizza experiences. This was a thin crust cooked perfectly with a nice bottom crunchy texture. Flavor, this place as it’s devotees and I can understand why the locals are enamored but I look for something more in my pies, the Italian umami factor; for me that comes from high gluten pizza flour which I believe this was not. The sauce was quite different not your standard San Marzano pure tomato preparation and was decidedly garlicky which was not objectionable in any way, just not my favorite. The cheese topping was good not the stringy mozzarella that I like but it was tasty nonetheless. There is nothing wrong or objectionable with their pizza it just didn’t kick me over the top but there are countless others that go sailing through the goal post each and every night. Tacconelli’s is well managed, they know what they are doing and they have stream lined the operation to meet a very high demand and most importantly I would return if I were in the area.

I have been wanting to try the Philadelphia Tacconelli’s ever since I heard about it so when I found out there was a Maple Shade location where you do not have to reserve your dough ahead of time, I had to go the next day. I visited the location on a Saturday night around 8pm and we were seated right away. The restaurant was crowded but there are many tables and a lot of space. This place seems like it would be great for large groups especially since it’s BYOB. On the other side of the restaurant there seemed to be a whole area reserved for large parties. We only ordered one large formaggio pizza but it was delicious. The crust is thin and crispy and the sauce is super flavorful so I was able to easily eat half the pie. Definitely some of the best pizza in the area. Just remember it’s cash only and BYOB.

BYOB. Meets the hype given to it. I went on a Saturday night, and was promptly seated. Ordered a formaggio with two toppings and received it in less than ten minutes. The pizza was thin crust with a mouth-watering sauce and a trifecta of cheese. The arugula topping had a light dressing on it and was copiously distributed atop the pie. It truly made the dish, in my opinion. The mushrooms were very standard, sliced white buttons. I think I would’ve liked them sauteed first. But they were still good. Service was nice, and we were in and out in about a half hour. We were a little disappointed there wasn’t much food to order as an appetizer(just a couple salads) but given how long we had to wait, we survived just fine. Managed to finish four slices each, when normally I have 2 – 3 at most pizza places, reflecting how thin and less filling these slices are.

One of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Very reminiscent of Trenton’s tomato pies. The crust is crispy and they have just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Their gnocchi with Gorgonzola cream and pancetta was to die for. We had our rehearsals dinner here and the only complaint we had was we were starving. It would have been a good idea for them to have taken our salad and pasta orders in advance and had them ready for us when we got there so when we ordered our pizza we weren’t hangry. Also it would have been nice for the staff to have served us the beverages that we brought with us.

As you can see I never review places but this food was so below average, I felt compelled to Unilocal!Don’t waste your money. Everyone raves about this place and pizza was way over cooked and had no taste. We had three different kinds of pies and all were equally as bland and over cooked. Passirellos on Main Street in Moorestown is 5 minutes away from this place and has great pizza that isn’t over cooked and over priced.

Place is nice. Service was good. Pizza was Mediocre to bad. I know this place is raved about and we are new to the area and we have had this place recommended by EVERYONE. But our pizza tasted so burned and flavorless. Not wood fired but burned. It lacked flavor because all you could taste was the burn flavor. And our food was 111.00 total for everyone on our ticket(table of 6). Over priced, wayyyyyyyy overpriced. Will never be back. Sorry to those who love this place. Was not worth it at all. Gave two stars because of waitress being so nice and helpful.

I love their pizza! It’s a great family business that really takes pride in their food. Reasonable priced and never disappoints on flavor. The pizza is very thin with a crispy crust and always so good! The only drawback is that they don’t take credit card but it’s still worth going to! It’s usually busy at night but takeout is just as good as dining in!

I picked up a large pie on a Friday night. Of course the place was packed but my pizza was ready exactly at the moment they said it would be. I should have taken a picture because it was a work of art. South Jersey has so many pizza places that it’s very difficult to stand out. This place is arguably the best in South Jersey. The thin crust is crispy, chewy, and has the perfect amount of char. The sauce and cheese are perfectly on point too. This place is about 10 mins from my work but about 30 mins from home, so you probably won’t be surprised to hear that I ate the entire pie in my car!

Needed to grab some pizza sauce for my kids tonight for their dinner, so I decided to finally go check out tacconellis and grab some. So me and my 3 year old old daughter walk in and upon asking for a measly 8 ounces of pizza sauce the entire staff looks at me as if I’m crazy and the owner walks up to tell me very bluntly that he doesn’t have any to spare and will not be selling us any pizza sauce. So we had to walk out and go over to montesini where it was no issue. Not going home to decipher your pizza sauce, but really It’s a pizza sauce not kfc’s original recipe. I have worked as a chef my entire life and to tell me you don’t have any to «spare» is a crock of sh$t. The owner should be ashamed of himself. Montesini all day

Had the gnocchi with blush tomato basil sauce and a plain pie. Both were delicious. The meal was reasonably priced and made even cheaper being that Tacconellis is a BYOB. This certainly isn’t an upscale setting but the place was clean, quiet, and had some good oldies on. Would definitely recommend. The pizza is very thin so be ready to order more than you are used to. Between two people we split a dinner portion of gnocchi and a large pie with two slices left over.

First time trying this restaurant. the food was very good.however.the portion size of the DINNER/SHARING PORTIONSIZE gnocchi was so small, I swore they made a was $ 15! We were so disappointed! seriously, for that price we expected a good size to share. that’s what it says on the menu, SHARING size. a 2 year old could’ve eaten that& still have been hungry! It’s a shame because it was delicious. the pizza was very good. But one pizza& that SMALL portion of pasta was$ 30.76. Had the pasta been a decent size, I wouldn’t be so disappointed. unfortunately, we’ll never order anything but pizza from there again.

Probably the best pizza in the area. Thin, crispy crust, nice char and great flavor, nor is it heavy. Service isn’t top notch; doesn’t seem authentic compared to the quality of the pizza. The chocolate cake we had was pretty good. It looked rich and dense, but was actually very light, moist, and tasty. Looking forward to trying their original location in Philly. Decently priced. BYOB. I cannot for the life of me figure out why they aren’t 5 star. I had the opportunity to dine there Sunday night. We were seated within minutes upon arriving. We asked for suggestions and followed up on it. We started with the Greek salad which was excellent. Then had the cavatelli with blush sauce and good choice. We finished with a signature pizza with sausage, Awesome.

Finally, the new Tacconelli’s has opened! It’s been long awaited and to avoid withdraw, we went back to the original Tacconelli’s on Somerset Street in our neighborhood.(Note, we usually avoid the original since you have to call at 11am just to get a pie.) We were thoroughly impressed with the new place. Lots of seating, and it was a very open floor plan. The decorations and colors all went well together and it was, overall, an intimate atmosphere. We also were sure to take note of the large side room where we’ll more than likely have a party! The pizza, as expected, was spot on! We were also very pleased with the additions of pasta to the menu. We ordered the gnocchi, and it was delicious! The reason that it’s only a 4 star rating was because the wait staff was lacking. When we got our salad, we didn’t have any plates or utensils to eat it with. This happened again when our pizza was delivered and there was a good 5 minutes that we didn’t have any plates to eat on. Regardless of the wait staff, I would highly recommend it to anyone. Hopefully next time we come the wait staff will be a little more organized.
