This place is pretty great! We have not been disappointed by anything on their menu so far, and China Light definitely serves as our go to place for Chinese. Honestly, I’m not sure what the negative reviews are all about… The thing with reviews for Chinese restaurants is that even if a place is deserving of a great review– like this place is– people seem to feel the need to nit-pick and use their review as a way to show how cultured and knowledgeable they are about Chinese food… and in the process, really good restaurants like this get a a handful of outlier negative reviews that are honestly undeserved! This place has a legion of loyal fans. just look at the reviews from their repeat customers, and notice the disparity in the reviews. You get like 10 great reviews for every 1 negative one… China Light does a good, consistent job with their food, and the service from the sweet owners are always top notch. We always appreciate the quality and consideration that seems to go in to their food preparation(eg you don’t get a bucket full of grease as you do with other Chinese places in the area). Would not hesitate recommending this place to anyone.

Definitely not impressed with this place. At first I was happy with how low the prices were, but after receiving our food I understood why. We ordered 3 orders of crab ragoons(12 ragoons total) at $ 2.50 per order. The other Chinese places around me normally charge $ 5-$ 7 per one order of 4 – 6 so I was really excited, and then really disappointed when I realized that they were mainly fried batter with a third of a tablespoon of the crab and cream cheese mixture in them. We ordered the sesame chicken but substituted the white rice with vegetable chow mein and the Mongolian beef and sweet and sour chicken combination meal that came with fried rice and an egg roll and both meals came with egg drop soup(another one of my favorites). First, the container of soup is about 4 – 6 ounces, and they only fill it up half way. Next, my sesame chicken was a gooey general tsaos that they sprinkled a total of 20 something sesame seeds on. The vegetable chow mein was flavorless, cold, and extremely oily. The sauce for the sweet and sour was definitely not sweet and sour. It was watery and had a slight floral flavor, and they give you around 2 ounces to put on your whole order of chicken. The egg roll was flavorless, soggy and cold. I’m really not picky when it comes to Chinese food, especially not when we order out. I understand that everyone makes their food differently and things are going to vary from place to place, but I could microwave food with better quality than this place. Needless to say we won’t eat here again.

Looking to try a new Chinese place for carry out in MV I decided to give China Light a go. I ordered the general Tao’s chicken and deep fried almond chicken. The general Tao’s chicken was not bad. Good flavor, but kind of chewy and not Crispy. The deep fried almond chicken was very well fried, but the gravy that came with it was on the side and not at all something I expected. The gravy was red, a bit runny and extremely salty. I couldn’t even eat the rest of the fried chicken. I’m used to the Americanized almond chicken gravy that every other Chinese restaurant serves. Maybe this is a version that is popular elsewhere, but I can’t imagine it’s a dish that gets a lot of repeat customers in Maple Valley. The lady working the counter was extremely friendly. So much that I feel bad writing a 2 star review because I can tell how hard she works. But at the cost and the quality received, I’ll meander to a different restaurant.

Super bummed that we just wasted 45 bucks on terrible food. We ordered almond chicken and it came with teriyaki sauce. What the heck. Then when I called to complain about our food and that we had been given the wrong sauce I was told that’s just how they serve almond chicken with«gravy». The sweet n sour sauce is literally neon pink. It smells terrible. Not like sweet n sour should smell or taste. We won’t be ordering from here again. We really splurged on dinner out and no one in our family wants to eat it. Yuck. I went here based on the reviews and pictures, which I don’t think looked anything like the food I was given.
