The self service lady tonight was a total bitch face. Yeah, it’s the night before Thanksgiving, the grocery store is a zoo. Even more reason to be an attentive and friendly employee rather than a grumpy shit face. My silent red light siren thing is going off and so is the self checkout lane next to me. We’re both staring at the woman in charge of the self check as she’s looking everywhere but the checkout registers, and twiddling her thumbs. Finally the couple next to me go get her as the line behind us continues to grow of people waiting to checkout. The employee walks up to their register does some stuff then proceeds to walk past mine. So I say«excuse me, can I get some help?» Her response is that it’s not my turn. Wtf. She grabs some keys and goes back to the first couple. Umm… so you couldn’t say, «Sorry, I’ll be right with you,» or «I’m just finishing up with them?» Christ lady. I dislike you as much as you hate your job. She finally makes it over, doesn’t say a word and puts in some codes. As I’m finishing up I see her 15 feet away holding a baby and talking to some guy while a bunch more red lights are flickering with no one there to help. I’m screaming«HEYLADY, DOYOURJOB!» I would guess that Cub isn’t paying this person to socialize and leave a bunch of pissed off customers waiting. As I leave I let a manager know. Normally I wouldn’t bother, I don’t expect much from grocery store employees, but this woman was a beast and her terrible attitude needed to be addressed. If I have to deal with her shit face again I’ll start going to Hy-Vee. They’re a hike, but at least their employees know how to smile.

Their 24 hour operation does come in handy every now and then, but price-wise, they charge more for the items I frequently buy(now from competitors).

I know the ingredients list sounds weird(we were skeptical too) but this was a really good week night recipe made with Jenni-o turkey tenderloins. I say week night because it was crazy fast. I whipped this up after walking in the door from work and it made me feel like Super Mom because even though both my kids were«helping» me in their own ways, I still managed to make something unique and tasty that my husband, who doesn’t even care for turkey or cranberries, was gushing over. He reheated the leftovers for lunch the next day and said it was even better on day 2. Love recipes like that. Ingredients — 2 T butter ½ tsp salt ½ tsp pepper ¼ tsp cinnamon 1 ½ pounds of turkey cutlets(they were out of cutlets so i subbed tenderloins) ½ c of chicken broth 1 can of whole berry cranberry sauce 1 box of stuffing(prepared as directed on box) Directions — 1) Melt butter in large skillet 2) Sprinkle turkey with salt, pepper & cinnamon(wha???) 3) Brown turkey, remove from skillet 4) Add broth & cook 2 minutes 5) Stir in cranberry sauce. Add turkey. 6) Simmer for 2 – 3 minutes Serve with steamed green beans and make sure you ladle sauce on stuffing. YUM!!! Turkey and stuffing in January? On a Wednesday? Who knew?

I went to this Cub Foods to get some last minute birthday party supplies. I went to the floral counter and ordered 4 balloons. Then I went to the bakery, picked out a beautiful marble cake from the display and asked the bakery staff to write on it for me. They had it done in less than 5 minutes. I went back to floral, picked up the balloons and some beautiful flowers, then some streamers, a birthday banner, paper plates and plastic cutlery, and was out in 20 minutes. It was perfect! The cake had a buttercream frosting that wasn’t overly sweet. Being a frosting hater, I really enjoyed it. The cake was surprisingly good!

I’m a fan of Cub Foods. They are a unionized establishment and they always have great deals. I’m a devote coupon clipper at Cub and usually I end up saving a good chunk of money. I do the grocery shopping for work at this location. It’s not always clean, but it fills the need.
