We like returning to Las Palmas again and again because it is always good! They make great margaritas and usually have one on special and their house made guacamole is fantastic. Dan is also a fan of their beer selection and prices(which is very affordable). We have tried a variety of their menu items and have never been disappointed. I really like their Chicken Avocado Salad(surprise! me and avocado!) which is a delicious green salad in a tortilla bowl with plenty of avocado. Dan is a fan of their tacos and we both like the quesadillas. I really want to go back and try the fajitas as they always look fantastic! Go and try this authentic and tasty Mexican restaurant. Happy eating!

I’m only giving one star because this place has some of the worst service around. I walked in today, was looked at my three employees and after 5 minutes standing up front with no one to seat us, lead me to this review. First and foremost the food is fantastic! However, I’ve been served margaritas with no alcohol to margaritas with rum. We used to go once a week because we love the food so much. However, the service has been appalling. We’ve waited upwards of 40 minutes for an order with only three or so tables sat besides us. Never has our food order been messed up but we have had our drink order messed up a lot. We have given this place a chance to redeem itself over and over. Today, after standing up front for 5 minutes and have 3 employees look at us and not greet us or seat us was the last straw. We will not be going back. There was one customer in the dinning room so it’s not like they were busy.

DONOTLISTENTOTHENEGATIVEREVIEWS. Everything you will get from Las Palmas is authentic, delicious, fast, but is always worth the wait. The amount of food you get is generous as well as the pours in the Margaritas. If you ever have any problems, you can always let someone know and they will Gladly fix whatever issue. But the best part, of course, is the food and the Margaritas. If you want to have a mini vacation any time of day — this is the place to go.

20 minutes on a to go order, and their credit card machine was«down» — the response was«maybe you can go to an ATM?»… The closet ATM would require a walk, and my food would have been soggy and cold The server just stared at me and offered no solution. Thanks for wasting my lunch break.

Iv eaten at las palmas many times and have always had a good meal. Fast service nice staff and good music. Place is always clean. One gripe is the painted floors. While it looks nice it feels sticky. But that doesn’t effect me eating the food. It’s in a great location and I’m always willing to walk down and grab some tasty food.

Not all Mexican Restaurants are created equal. Having said this, the food wasn’t bad, but it felt more like the places in Mexico that are set up for Western tourists for their appeasement. Cancun comes to mind. The staff were friendly and hospitable, the sugar skulls from Dia de los Muertos were beautifully crafted as well as the luchador masks. Very colorful! We had fish tacos and chicken tortas. The cilantro rice was so good! The fish tacos looked like fish sticks wrapped around very flavorful(flour) tortillas. I could have eaten the fish tacos sans the fish! Chicken torta had what tasted like pickled jalapenoes and carrots on it with a side of… french fries! French fries? This place felt like Tex Mex versus the other downhome places in Mexico or on the south side here. I usually like fish tacos unbreaded and the torta without mayo. Mayo? Really y’all? I enjoy places that are not so commercialized, off the beaten path, word of mouth places and straight up authentic. I love those places where tourists are reluctant to go to, is cheap and not overly priced and where the everyday folks go. This place wasn’t bad, it was just not my cup of horchata.

Took 20 minutes for them to take our order another 45 to get our food. Very few people in the restaurant. Food is ok but not worth the wait. the waiter just told us it was on the house though. They did the right thing.

Do yourself a favor and don’t bother to go to Las Palmas. We had to wait 30 minutes to be acknowledged. Then after ordering another 30 minutes so we told the server we were leaving. The one margarita we got tasted like lemonade with Sprite… totally weird.

Called in for a pick up order, as we were being lazy and wanted some Mexican food. The person on the phone was polite and repeated the order back to us. We ordered the nachos and the two combo with a beef chimi and a chicken burrito. ~we split everything between 2 people Chips were tasty and not stale or cold. We did not care for the standard salsa but not bad. 1.nachos had heat from the jalapeño. Which was not over powering but had good taste. We also topped ours with shredded beef. Which was flavorful and not dry. 2.The beef chimi was spicy but passed my husbands picky taste. The chicken burrito was mild and mixed well with the beans. I also liked the notes of cilantro. Both came in a styrofoam split tray(which unfortunately split open some when I was removing it from the bag) and covered with the same sauce. The combo comes with some green rice(some heat), refried beans which I liked, some pico and sour cream on the side for us 4stars only because our wait time was a little long(for pick up) and my husband who picked up the food said it took a while for them to even acknowledge him when he walked in.

We read the reviews after we came in for lunch. There was no problem with the service. It was prompt and our order was correct. The margaritas were very good and the appetizer platter was satisfying. If we are ever back in the area we would come again

Since my boyfriend moved here earlier this year, we’ve been saying«We need to find our little Mexican joint.» Where I live, we have several standard Mexican restaurants that are speedy and reliable and reasonably priced. Instead, we just kept eating Mexican-fusion. But we’ve walked past Las Palmas many times, so when we were debating a Friday night dinner and decided we were in the mood for some nachos, we decided to hit this place up. Las Palmas is super easy to get to and there is a parking lot behind them if you turn onto Marshall Ave(I think it’s called the«Marietta Lot»). We opted to sit at the bar and the bartender and servers were friendly and kind. We started with drinks. When the BF ordered a draft beer they had just re-kegged, the bartender let us know so he could get something else(rather than a warm beer). I ordered the Las Palmas Margarita. Their margaritas come in 4 size options(the smallest being 18 oz) and they are well-priced. The Las Palmas had a nice orangy flavor(due to the orange liquor and orange juice in it). They also were serving up pitchers of margaritas for people to split. The salsa was not like any other salsa I’d had. Very good but kind of cloudy looking? The flavors were great, though. We also inquired about a hotter salsa, and our server brought us a green salsa with a LOT of heat to it. They also gave us to-go containers for these. When we had leftovers the next day, the boyfriend reported that the green salsa had gotten even spicier. He was pleased by this. For our meals we ordered the Chimichanga Supreme and the Camarones Rancheros. My chimi was GIANT and so delicious. The steak had an awesome seasoning and the tortilla was had a delicious, fried crispness. I only ate about half of it before I realized I had way too much food for one person. The Camarones Rancheros were very flavorful. Both came with cilantro rice that was a knock-out. So flavorful! I also really enjoyed my refried beans and the BF was pleased with his black beans. There are a lot of delicious-looking meals on the menu so I feel like you can’t go wrong here. We will definitely be back.

Seated quickly. Fast & friendly service. Chips were fresh. Salsa was delicious. I suggest the Enchiladas. Frozen Strawberry magarita was a little strong. Credit cards accepted. I recommend.

If wanting to make love to your food is wrong I don’t want to be right! Best fish tacos I’ve ever had. Not the classic breadding but it’s so amazing. The guacamole is so fresh and the black beans are delectable. I may come back for lunch tomorrow, don’t judge me.

ve been to this place a few times when I’m visiting friends in the area. The food and service is always good, my wife usually gets the steak quesadilla and I stick with the steak burrito. Additionally, the chips and salsa are always fresh and flavorful.

Not bad. This restaurant is along a block of restaurants. Inside it’s comfortable, and the service is good. I had a couple tacos, which were nicely seasoned. Didn’t try a margarita but my friend enjoyed hers quite a bit. Queso was a little bland, but the salsa was nice and not too spicy. If in the area, I wouldn’t mind going back to grab a bite to eat. Not the best Mexican I’ve had, but for the Midwest, it’s pretty good and reasonably priced.

Wow, this place was way better than I expected! It’s a tad pricey, but in the end I saw why, as the food was definitely a step up from the normal mexican restaurant. Check out the photos I posted, so good!

I remember the Woodson location as being really good. This location many years later was just meh. The music was too loud, the margarita a little too strong, the food just kind of bland. I got the shredded chicken burritto that comes with rice and beans. I was hungry so it hit the spot. Service was mediocre and so was my tip. I will probably stick with Diablitos and Milagro from now on.

Much better than OK! Very good! I must update my review because I came here a second time and loved it. The tacos were good the first time around, and this time I thought they were even better, and seemed to have plenty of toppings on the meat. I had planned to order just tacos a la carte but I didn’t see a section of the menu to do that — other than the lunch menu(I was there at dinner time). I suppose I could have asked the server but instead I got the plate of 3 traditional tacos. The sides of beans and rice were very good this time, I thought improved from the last time I ate here. I also really liked the salsa. It’s a thin salsa, not super chunky, but not watery, It has a nice bright flavor — I’d say mild-to-medium in spice level.

Las Palmas has some pretty good Mexican food this side of town! Now, I generally like to judge a Mexican restaurant on their salsa and their margaritas, but for Las Palmas, I cannot fail to mention their fajitas, as well. Let us begin with chips and salsa. It is adequate, a little spicy and, at times, not chunky enough for my liking. Their chips are good, but many times they are not the quickest to serve you a second helping(which is probably in my best interest, but at the time makes me very hungry). Round 2, margaritas! Las Palmas has excellent margaritas. They really get into their recipes, too. Throughout the seasons, I know I’ve tried a cranberry margarita here and a watermelon one, also. They also have good pitcher options to share amongst friends! Well, the moment I’ve been waiting to tell you about– the fajitas. They have a delicious steak fajita(the chicken is a bit bland). But they have this meal for two under the fajita section for two– it is steak, chicken, shrimp, chorizo, with onions and peppers in the skillet. And you get the tortillas and guac and sour cream. It is excellent! Again, the chicken part is usually avoided by both parties involved in my case, but the other components are amazing! Service here is good. It is incredibly fast, which is sad sometimes as I like to take time on my meal and enjoy good company! The atmosphere is typical Mexican restaurant. Sometimes, you are seated up front by the big window and you feel like you are on display to all the world! But it is okay.

Had dinner with my boyfriend here tonight, and it was a good time! (+): — Free chips & salsa(which had a nice kick to it!) — Queso($ 3.75) came out hot and pretty tasty, came with a nice amount of chiles. — Enchiladas verdes($ 9.50) were good. The green rice was new to me, but I liked how it tasted. Apparently arroz verde is a thing? — The bf ate up his 3 fish tacos and sides($ 11.95) — Service was super friendly! And attentive. Our glasses always had water. — Not too expensive. We weren’t sure we were going to hit the $ 25 mark(we just barely did by $ 0.20) to use the«$ 6 off a $ 25 purchase» coupon on the back of all those Shop n Save receipts. — Las Palmas participates in the GoodDining program, so you can discreetly generate a donation to the charity of your choice while eating out. :) (-): — We were on the west side and so finding the restrooms was a little confusing. There was one for each gender on the bar side(in contrast to Erika’s comment about a unisex restroom? never found that), but the doors were very colorfully painted, which was cool. — Uhh… the menus were a little old/chewed up from use? I don’t know, I don’t have many complaints about this place. Pretty happy with this place so far. [Edit: 10/02/14] Minus a star because it has been almost a month and a half, and the donation never got credited to my chosen charity. I contacted GoodDining weeks ago and no word. The main reason why I even visited the restaurant in the first place was because I saw that it participated in the program.

What a pleasant surprise. I can not tell how many times I have passed Las Palmas by and never gave them a second thought. The other night I was craving Mexican, before a very exclusive elite event at Pie O’My. My time was limited so I stopped in for a quick dinner at Las Palmas. In just one visit, I can tell you I am already a fan. Their salsa served with the chips has a nice spicy bite to it and our basket of chips were warm. Warm chips are always a nice touch. It was Happy Hour, so how could I say no to a Margarita with no salt? It was refreshing, but I agree with Christie S. it could of been a little stronger. When experiencing a Mexican restaurant for the first time, I usually go with a combination plate so I can try a couple different things. Tonight a did a soft chicken taco and a beef burrito. They were served with cilantro rice and re-fried beans. I was impressed that the burrito was shredded beef and not the typical ground beef. It was stuffed pretty full and the meat was tenderer then some BBQ places that serve shredded beef. The chicken taco, was garnished with lettuce and tomato. The chicken was seasoned well enough, that I did not need to add any salsa for flavor. The sides were very impressive for me. I am not a fan of cilantro and their cilantro rice won me over. It was moist and the cilantro flavoring was not overpowering. It was light and refreshing. I liked the fact that the beans was a mixture of whole beans and smashed beans. So many places serve up re-fried beans that look like brown mashed potatoes. They were great as a dip with the extra chips we had left in our basket. The service was great. They were doing the typical team service that you see at many of the Mexican restaurants. One of the other male servers, just stopped by to make sure every thing was to our satisfaction. When I am craving inexpensive Mexican, I’ll drive to Maplewood to satisfy my fix and I three Mexican restaurants that I can walk to from my house. So what does that tell you?
