Rice and sushi was just thrown together — there is a reason it is called«sticky rice». It is because the rice should be sticky, not falling apart. Also, the salad/pasta was hanging over the edge of the plate. We have been to Sansai Webster Groves as well as Maplewood on 3 different occasions, and they have been consistently TERRIBLE.

Not a bad place to pop in & grab a quick bite to eat. Nothing fancy. Not too pricey either and it fills you up. I ordered the Teryaki Chicken bowl with the Sumi salad. I like their Teryaki sauce. The food isn’t over the top, but it’s simple and I like that. Have never tried their sushi. Maybe next time.

I have visited San Sai on several occasions because the food is decent and a fair value, however the service here sucks. Every time I have been here I have witnessed the staff have ignore customers and talk with their friends and coworkers. I will go as far as saying that most of the employees could care less about even being here, one my most recent trip one female employee ignored a customer as she socialized with her friends and possibly family who were just hanging out in the store. I usually end up ordering San Sai Plate with Steak and Chicken and a selection of two of their salads which rotates at times. Overall the food is good, and there is usually a deal on Groupon making it an even better deal however it’s just hard dealing with the total lack of customer service. Maybe it’s just this location, however my recommendation is skip this San Sai all together and go elsewhere or another location.

What can I say? The food is good. The restaurant is clean and the staff is helpful. It’s sushi with a fast casual flare.

I enjoy the bowls. I usually get the salmon bowl with brown rice and oriental salad. Never disappointed. The staff is really friendly and efficient.

Better than average sushi. The dining area was clean and with newer seating. The dining area was bright and was setup for the lunch crowd. Staff was friendly. Prices were in line with above average meal. Take out seemed to be the more popular option. I had the sushi special box for12.99

We bought a Groupon to try this place, and I am so glad we did! Patrick was a great help with our menu choices and helping us with descriptions of the salads. We both got the steak and chicken plate, and each one came with rice(we chose brown), 2 salads, and a skewer of grilled veggies. We were happy to see that they had Coke products, too. The food was fresh and the meats were cooked well and were nice and juicy, with just the right amount of teriyaki sauce on them! The salads and slaws are yummy and the brown rice had a wonderful nutty flavor to it. The skewered veggies were slightly carmelized… mmmmm! We didn’t have to wait long for the food to come out, either. There was a modest upcharge if you request brown rice, or chicken breast, but we were fine with it. The restaurant was clean and so was the rest room. We will go back for sure, without a Groupon!

Really love their California rolls and the beef is always so tender. Been there a few times now and really liked all of what I tried but not a big fan of their shrimp… too small and chewy, might want to pass on that item. Salads are very good and it’s great to go with instead of fried foods…(not that I don’t like fried foods but it’s good to have a choice)

This place was surprisingly very good for«fast food» style sushi. I really liked how the sushi rolls come with your choice of a salad on the side. A bit overpriced but I guess most sushi is expensive.

When I am feeling lazy and I am not inspired to cook or go out and sit at a restaurant, I come here to pick up a to go order. My order usually consists of a chicken, pork or spicy chicken plate depending on my mood. Their plates come with 2 salads, vegetable kabob and a choice of brown or white rice. I have never tried their sushi but I have tried their veggie spring rolls which were quite good. I also always get my orders to go so I cannot speak to the dining experience here. Whenever I come in though, I place and ordee and sit down for a few minutes and they usually will have my order ready in less than 10 minutes. This is true even during their busy times. They are also really good at making sure the order goes to the right person. When they call your order number, they do take your receipt and compare it to the order they have to avoid any mishap. I appreciate that a lot and I like coming here for the food and their fast but accurate service.

i’m surprised at the high ratings for this place — went by over the weekend as i have driven by it for years and never stopped in. wanted some sushi and was tired of bad service and mediocre quality at Wasabi(warson woods) so i thought we’d give it a shot. It’s very cafeteria-esq, you go in and order at the counter and then wait for your number to be called. The food is served on a tray like back in elementary school. I still had high hopes as the place was pretty busy, lots of people coming and going while we were there. But the food was disappointing we tried 4 different rolls and only one of them was good(spicy tuna) the rest i could have done without especially for the price! The roles were $ 10+ which is more of a wasabi price and more grocery store quality. won’t be coming back.

I love Sansai and went there yesterday to pick up lunch. Unfortunately they were out of salmon and the salad I love. I ordered something else and when I got to my car I realized they had given me the wrong salad. Hopefully this was a one time glitch and I won’t have to find a new place for my salmon bowl.

Great fast food japanese. Always consistent quality and the sushi rice is actually soft and not stale. I usually get the spicy pork. Not sure if I would be comfortable getting raw fish here. But the menu is extensive. Not exactly cheap for fast food, but reasonably tasty and prompt.

This is the slowest san sai I have ever been to. I came in and no one was waiting but me and I thought to myself this should be quick. Well that was false two other people came and left after me and I was still waiting for someone to come out and make my sushi. Well 25 min later I guess my food was ready. Major fail poor service.

I normally don’t do reviews for chains but I fell violently ill hours after eating here, and honestly it’s my fault for even thinking it would be fine. Should’ve known. Never again. Never. Never.

I come here way too often to not give a 5 star review. One of my favorite places for a quick, well priced, and tasty meal that’s also fairly healthy. I live and work in the city, but I often go out of my way to come here. I usually get some combination of the same things when I come — teriyaki chicken, California roll, sumi salad — but they’re always consistently good.

Super great tofu in the miso soup! It was a really nice lunch break, light sushi rolls but perfect for someone small like me. I didn’t feel heavy after and I felt full. It’s a little expensive, but worth every taste bud explosion. You can expect to spend a little more when you go out for sushi though.

I am so sad that we come here so infrequently that I always get the same thing. This last time I finally tried something new and it was equally delicious as my normal go to option. I love that I can get a sushi roll if I want, or I could not. Either way I’m going to get delicious rice(that’s my favorite part) and a ton of food for a great price. I also like the faster idea of getting Japanese food and everything is still fresh and delicious. Sometimes I go out of my way to make it to SanSai, sometimes we just happen to be in the area. Either way it needs to happen more often!

I got a carryout of a Sushi and Roll Combo for $ 10.99 — selected shrimp and salmon as the fish and a Philadelphia roll. I opted for the Sumi salad, and the dinner came with a bowl of miso soup. I’m no expert on this type of food, but it was all so delicious and fresh. They added some wasabi and ginger, which I used with the roll. The miso soup(never had it before) was flavorful and filling. The shrimp and salmon were great-tasting. I just LOVE the taste and fresh crunch of the Sumi salad. This was a dang lot of food and lasted two meals. I’m just at the cash register ordering my carryout. And they’re always smiling and being utterly patient with me in my awkward ordering way. Maybe I’ll never get it quite as smooth as others, but I sure do like this food!
