The proprietor isn’t the most pleasant guy but he knows muffins cold! Excellent muffins and scones and all the locals hang out there. If the owner was nicer to his staff and customers it would be a 5 star experience.

Terrible customer service. Have had a bad experience each time I’ve been here. Won’t be coming back.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. To the point that I asked for my money back and left. The young girl working the counter, RUDERUDERUDE. I am not one to leave an establishment like this over rude service, but her comments and attitude made for a very uncomfortable and unpleasant experience. Would NEVER return.

The muffins were fine, but the service was so slow and unfriendly that the experience was ruined. Yelling at customers to shut the door just bums out everyone. Tables weren’t cleaned, floors weren’t swept, and we waited 45 minutes for scrambled eggs. Two stars is probably too generous.

The muffin shop… Oh my lanta. Located in a cute and charming part Of Marblehead mass, this place seems like a dream come true for anyone seeking a deli-style sandwich, chips and a nice crisp kosher pickle. Well, good luck… You’ll get your sandwich, it will taste delicious, but you’ll have to wait for it. Depending on what you order– some pieces of bread with ingredients in between them are prioritized before others. Even if you were in front of 4 – 5 people your order may be pushed to the back of the line. This is what i was told at the counter after waiting 30 minutes for a sandwich. This message was served with a healthy side of «attitude». Good food, just don’t come hungry. You’ll be waiting!

Terrific family owned and operated business who cares about what they serve! You can tell the delicious muffins are fresh baked at the crack of dawn each morning! I was lucky enough to have the muffins brought to me, beautifully packed in boxes. Each looked liked little jewels of delicious flavor! Everyone went crazy over them in my office! I was a little slow and only got to taste the blueberry but it was amazing! From reading the reviews it looks like I need to get to the Muffin Shop early to get my fill if I want to try the other flavors! Isn’t that the way it’s supposed to be? If something is that good, it’s in demand and makes us want it that much more? Well done Muffin Shop! Well done!

The husband had the pancakes with bacon, I had the chocolate chip muffin and croissant breakfast sandwich with turkey sausage and cheese and a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was amazing! The pancakes were average, the syrup tasted like Aunt Jemima and the bacon was cooked to a crisp, which the husband loved. The chocolate chip muffin was good, not a lot of chocolate chips in it but the muffin still had a very good taste. The croissant was very plain. It had two pieces of turkey sausage to make up for the size croissant and the cheese and egg were big enough to cover the size as well. The food and service was average hence the 3 stars.

Went a few weekends ago for a nice healthy omelet with a friend. An omelet and two muffins later we left happy little campers :) Definitely worth going to!

Take this review with a grain of salt, since we didn’t even get around to trying the muffins here… but I have to say, The Muffin Shop was a great place to duck into on a chilly fall afternoon! If I was by myself instead of with my kids, I could have easily dawdled for hours over a cup of coffee and some wi-fi. Since we were so late in coming, though, all of the muffins had long since sold out and we had to be content with scones. They were excellent, and my kids really loved the ginormous cookies! If you want to eat like a local, tuck in your polo shirt and stop by for a visit!

They run out of product by 9 am this place has a bad layout. People have to reach over one another to get straws and other utensils while waiting in line. They really need to consider making more product for the mornings. I go there often and leave with nothing often. I just watched this morning as a group of ten people left because they had no muffins left.

Just had the most unpleasant food joint experience in my life… I came here because I’ve heard so many great things about muffins from this place, so I decided to get some. I came in and there was one person in front of me buying something. When it was my turn, I asked for ½ of muffins. I noticed right away that the employee just handled money and didn’t wear gloves or washed his hands after doing so. When he started picking up my muffins, he did so with a napkin, but he was putting them in a box with his other hand. I should have just walked out then… Unfortunately, I paid for those muffins. There were also few people behind me. I didn’t want to make a scene in front of other people. I walked out and called the place 2 minutes later from outside, to talk to the owner about the incident. Turns out that was the owner selling me those muffins. When I asked him for his name, he wouldn’t tell me… Instead, he started screaming over the phone, saying that I didn’t see anything and that that I’m a liar, and that he didn’t touch the muffins with his bare hands. That got me upset, since it just happened few minutes ago right before my eyes. I came back and asked for my money back. He called me «lying piece of shit», handled me the money and told me to «get the hell out of here» in front of his employees and few customers… It will surely be reported to Marblehead Board of Health, but since its a small town and everyone knows each other, I’m sure that no action will be taken. I don’t care how great food is, if its not handled properly restaurants shouldn’t be open for business!

I have had the muffins here… they ARE great… all varieties! We have a full house in summer, but there’s always an early riser who drives over to get a dozen… Even summer weekends! If you want great muffins… stop complaining and just get up and get there EARLY! They open at 6am, so yes, by 9 or 10 in summer they’re sold out… sometimes by 8 on summer weekends… but this is a small local place, not DD! Owners are very nice and customers are all ages… families and seniors. Very welcoming. By mid afternoon it’s all over… so maybe the secret is a late muffinless lunch? PS it’s 8am on a holiday weekend, and we just scored eight delicious blueberry muffins… and there are muffins left!

In terms of muffins… this place is tops(get it? muffin tops! ok fine… maybe only I found that funny). I can’t say I eat muffins very often, but what I do know is that there is a reason that they sell out quickly and it isn’t because they’re pretty to look at! Complain all you want about the muffins selling out, but it’s only indicative of one thing. The supreme-oh delicousness that abounds in that unassuming, short and stout baked good. By the time I arrived(9:30AM on a Tuesday morning) the majority of good stuff was already gone and eaten. I couldn’t believe how fast they must have went. My normal defaults(lemon poppyseed, chocolate chip and blueberry) were gone… so I dumbly pointed to a tray and asked«what’s that»? The cheerful high-schooler deftly working the counter replied, «peach»! MMM. Peach is now in the muffin rotation. It was awesome! The large coffee and the muffin came to just over $ 5.00 — same I would’ve spent at Dunkin Donuts and far yummier. If you desperately NEED that lemon poppyseed — they do accept orders for pick-up so call ahead and reserve yo’ muffins!

We stopped in during the winter, to have some coffee. It wasn’t too packed and the woman who I believe is the owner, was nice and helpful. They have a large array of pastries, and we settled on splitting a Hermit. Not a big muffin«Guy». It was good, and a good size, enough to split. They also have a lunch menu and local art on all walls, which is a cool addition to bring out the local small town feel.

Always packed for breakfast and lunch no matter what day of the week. The line to order can sometimes be a little tedious. As in a long line means an extra long wait. Is it worth it? I think so. We are regulars at the Muffin Shop. The Muffin Shop’s lobster roll is the best in the area– hands down. For the price at $ 12.50– the quality(and quantity) can not be beat. I would pay more for this lobster roll(however, considering I enjoy a lobster roll once a week, I am thankful for the price.) The sandwiches are average and the burgers and hotdogs are very diner-like in quality. In my opinion, the only breakfast food worth eating are the muffins and croissants. I am not a coffee drinker but I notice many people indulging in coffee. For me, I like their organic tea selection. Also, they make smoothies– which look delish. I have not tried one as of yet. The owner and his wife are very friendly and very accommodating(especially when one has children.) Best Child-Friendly restaurant in town! A very laidback and clean establishment with a perfect view of the Old Town’s busiest street… perfect for people watching! If you haven’t tried the Muffin Shop, you should!

This will be a short review: Sunday morning, Mother’s Day, long line around 10:30 and the name of your shop is the MUFFIN shop. After waiting in line for almost 10 minutes, we get to the counter and you have ZERO muffins left. Um… your name is the MUFFIN shop! You should have muffins in abundance. Really bad business to run out mid-morning on a weekend! My boyfriend and I were hoping this would be similar to the Blueberry Muffin in North Conway, NH(which has absolutely delicious muffins) but alas there was no product to compare. I guarantee that the Blueberry Muffin wouldn’t be out of muffins(ever) and especially not on such a popular day to go out to eat. Waste of time– beware because you might get there and they won’t have any muffins left. Too bad, flavors looked promising.

Well, I’m the fourth reviewer, but the first to have actually imbibed a muffin at the Muffin Shop and write about it. I’ve imbibed a few, actually, as I used to drop off my ex-roomie at church down the street and then haul my heathen ass over to the Muffin Shop before the townies packed the place, as they are wont to do after about 9 am on weekends. The muffins are really good. There are about 8 – 10 varieties they bake, but they tend to have 3 or 4 that they bake a lot of, and then just a tray or two each of the less popular varieties. Their coffee is really, really HOT. McDonald’s would never serve their coffee this hot! I also note that they tend to sell a lot of traditional breakfast fare — eggs, bacon and the like. I’ve never tried any of it, but if volume is an indicator of quality, it is probably pretty decent. I wouldn’t say this is a charming place — not much atmosphere, the décor is non-existent, and when the place fills up on a weekend, it’s anathema to peace seekers who want quiet with their coffee, muffin and Sunday newspaper. So, it’s not Shangri-la, but I’m giving it an extra star to offset Rachel H’s really stupid two star rating. Deal with it, Rachel — sometimes the proprietor runs out of product, and no, he’s not going to bake a whole tray just for you, unless you intend to buy the whole tray.

Well I was on my way to Foodies when I saw a small sign that said«The Muffin Shop». I love muffins! I am going to try this place out. It was almost 1:00 in the afternoon and all the muffins were gone! They bake them fresh that morning and then they are first come first serve. The empty baskets had names that sounded just delightful, all kinds of varieties for every taste. If only I had come sooner! Well right as I was trying to figure out something else to buy a plump woman came out with a tray of cinnamon chip scones with vanilla drizzle all over them. They smelled and looked amazing. As I took the first bite, it literally melted in my mouth. What-a-scone! It was like having a cinnamon roll fresh out of the oven. The prices are great! I was very shocked my scone was only $ 1.50, especially in Marblehead! I am definitely going back soon. I have 20 different kinds of muffins to try!

I don’t know about the muffins. I’ve only been for lunch, and there are no muffins left at that time. So, I have to assume, the muffins are damn good to sell out entirely by lunch time. Good for the Muffin Shop. Lets talk about lunch. How about, one of the better turkey clubs EVER. Real roasted turkey, super crispy bacon, and just enough mayo/lettuce. Oh, and its gigantic. Two people could probably split it. Only thing it needs is slightly better bread. The chicken salad is very good, however a tad too heavy on the mayo. I won’t complain there because seriously, I love any excuse to eat extra mayo. especially when its not by my own doing. Again, the only real downfall was the bread, soft wheat. But hey, its kind of my fault here because chix salad belongs on a hard roll. Oh and the mustard — they need good deli mustard. but what can ya do. Its a pretty large place, with a mildly unclear ordering process, though service is friendly. I’ll be back when I am looking for a quick bite in Marblehead. Its not hard to find, but it is hard to think«I can get a fresh roasted turkey club here» when you walk by. Its a bit deceiving, considering the name, after all. But look past the sign and the kinda cheesy posters — there’s some good food and great A/C blasting in there.
